Silverarrow.4701
Hey guys,There are two weird-looking statues in the west of Caledon Forest, which you can reach with your skyscale (see: https://imgur.com/ioDCmv4 )Any idea what these might be? Can't seem to pinpoint any lore, but they sort of remind me of Jotun, for some reason? Seems to be corresponding to the GW1 Riverside province (but it's not the Temple of the Unseen).Any thoughts?Edit: Double checked this, it's north of Riverside, probably on the south-western edge of Twin Serpent Lakes
Jimbru.6014
They remind me of the Colossus in the Cliffside fractal. Another leftover of Tyria's lost history.
Konig Des Todes.2086
They're a reference to GW1, where in the Tarnished Coast maps players could find various faces carved from stone. The most famous of them being the Riven Earth waterfall. There are many more, and even some visible in Sparkfly Swamp. In GW2, the ones in Wychmire Swamp are the only such heads visible (the three-or-so seen near the Great Jungle Wurm battle, and one in Tears of Itlaocol dungeon - in the Marguuma/Tarnished Coast area at least. There are heads similar to the one at God's Skull visible in Ascalon and the Shiverpeaks. One of those heads can be found at Sigfast's Steading. There is, unfortunately, no lore on what these giant heads are. One theory is that they're tied to the Cliffside Colossus - which we do know passed through Dredgehaunt Cliffs at some point in the past. Another is that those of the Maguuma Jungle may have been made by one of the giant races from the Age of Giants (which very well may include the Colossus).
