Suggestion for Virtuoso: Convert Phantasm chara into weapons

Right now, for virtuoso, phantasms are translucent purple illusions in the caster's image, carrying weapons based on the skill that created them. My suggestion is to change the phantasm aesthetic to show only the weapon, like a spirit weapon for guardian. In this way Virtuoso can be more in line with its lore. This is only a visual change, no gameplay related, what do you think? 😊

there's no reason to go 10 years stuck on the liability that is NPC mechanics 

then have them tell us to our faces on a live stream that wvw is a "core pillar" of the game 

 

pve can be literally anything balance-wise, so that's moot 

 

but in pvp, npcs are always a nightmare to balance in any game, and this game is no different 

you can't make them too strong, because low tiers will suffer

and you can't make them too weak, because high tiers suffer 

 

if i'm not mistaken, mesmers are on the "too strong" aspect in pvp, because they've always been a staple in tournaments, and have most of their consistent nerf bat hits over and over focused primarily around spvp

 

but then in wvw, it doesn't matter how strong npcs are if they get deleted immediately

 

we should 100% have an option that could forgo NPCs entirely, yet it looks like that's not happening for another what-ever-time-until-next-expansion-maybe-if-they-game-isn't-dead-or-gw3-isn't-out-then-still-a-maybe

 

projectiles on shatters was a horribly poor decision for  replacing clones, and keeping phantasms was another considerably tone-deaf decision

I don't propose this to change the mechanics, but only the visual effects. I think is a nice and not demanding implementation so Virtuoso can have more identity. 🙂

i fully understand your suggestion

 

but you asked for others thoughts on the subject

and realistically, they should have been mechanically guardian spirit weapons

 

you'd get your aesthetic, same as you asked for

 

and people who care about balance can finally have something useful
