[Suggestion] Personnal library in the Priory's Special Collections

Many books were added to the game throughout the years. They are useless and so most of them end up discarded to free inventory space, which is a shame really.

All these pages of lore deserve better than to be discarded. I suggest we get access to the Priory's Special Collections as a personnal instance, in which every book we find will be placed to be readable later, account-widely.

I like the idea of a library, but I'd prefer it to be in the home instance rather than the Priory's special collections, for two reasons:

  1. It's easier to access. Stuff in our home instances is copied across to all 5 cities, and I'm more often in cities than out at the Priory's building.
  2. It makes it feel more like it's my collection. Sharing with the Priory might be ok for those of my characters who are Priory members (and maybe for the Whispers members too if it gives them an excuse to get into the Priory's archives) but it's not as nice as having my own private collection.

Yes please! I'm going to agree with OP on personal library in Priory's special collections > bookshelf in home instance

Like I said in this thread: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/comment/1119378

@Udolpho.1209 said:Throwing this idea out there:It would be cool if there was an instanced (?) library room in the Durmand Priory with a named Librarian NPC/s and you donated the books you found completed to their collection -- like, a room & book collection named after the Commander. The walls and shelves are bare, and as you find each book they go up on the shelf, which you can then go back later to and browse or read again (though I also like the idea you can access in the hero panel, like browsing the catalogue and finding the ebook version). Maybe they could be like quests, where you got a reward for donating the book to the Priory. More book shelves appear as needed. Of course they would be shelved in a system that makes sense, it's a library, that's what they do. You could even see missing gaps in the collection that might prompt you to go looking for that book. And you wouldn't need to be a member of the order to donate books and read your own collection...

I think it would be more fun as a real in-game thing than something in your home instance or bought from the gemstore.Maybe there's a magic object in your home instance that will take you directly to the Commander's library room if you touch it...

Also you could gain titles based on your donations, like Librarian -- or Book Shelver, Library Page, Library Assistant, Library Technician, Librarian, Information Specialist, Research Librarian, Archivist, Head Librarian, Dean of Libraries...

  1. There should be a magical item in the home instance that will port you directly to the Commander's library collection in the Durmand Priory.
  2. Why horde the books you've found? As the Commander, isn't it your duty to share your knowledge so people can work together to stop the elder dragons yada yada? This happens in real life: someone who has amassed a vast number of books on a particular subject donates their collection to a library, so everyone, including the donator, can access it, and the library gives them a special room or designates it as a special collection. Plus they probably get a tax benefit or some such. Likewise, there would be intensives to donate in the form of achievements. It would still be your own book collection.

...yes a bookshelf in the home instance would be fine. But an in game Commander's Collection housed at the Durmand Priory is a lot cooler, and would add to the game experience.
