  1. Hi all Anyone else not able to enter any story instances? Started this afternoon some time between 4pm-7pm BST. Approach the Story Instance green stick, asked to enter instance then when I click Yes nothing happens and 20 seconds later get the error "InstanceCreate Failed. Error=42; Product=5; Module=18; Line=1754". Have tried restarting client, still no joy. Any ideas? Currently in HoT trying to complete story line (Bitter Harvest).
  2. Your specifications are pretty much the minimum requirements for Guild Wars 2 which don't take into account the resources required by your laptop Operating System and any additional software such as Antivirus and other background applications. As a result, even on lowest settings your laptop is going to be pushing itself to the limits to play the game so I don't think there will be much you can do to make it "work lesser" and any significant change will likely result in the game being almost unplayable. Extra RAM will help a bit (especially if running a 64-Bit Operating System) but the CPU and Graphics card is still going to be a bottleneck. V-Sync can help with performance in some cases as it synchronises the frame rate of the application to the monitor, however if the monitor has a low refresh rate this can result in lower frame rates and a poor experience.
  3. Not able to login here either (UK player - EU servers). Getting error 42:1001:9001:4457 on launcher.
  4. UK based playing on EU servers. I previously had an issue with disconnections during story instance cutscenes for about 3-4 weeks that suddenly stopped (aside from adjusting the "streaming content option" nothing else done at my side). Since the rollback this issue has reared it's head again - 3 disconnections today already on the lvl 40 story instance. Always seem to be worst later in the day (after 7pm BST). No major issues with latency (50-90ms) but i seem to recall noting previously that during some story instances my connection was being routed to US servers and back (probably to do with Amazon AWS network) which going by the earlier comments for UK > US players, fits.
  5. As a (relatively) new (and very casual) player to Guild Wars 2 (been playing about 2 months) I have to agree that the first time doing HoT was a real eye-opener, I was getting one-shotted at every turn (Smokescales and those pesky pocket raptors) and was wondering what the hell was going on to the point of almost quitting because "why make a story area so kitten difficult to progress in?!!". However, after taking a breather, going back to do some more of the core world content to increase Hero Points and having a read of the forums I learnt to adapt and watch out for certain enemies attacks. Granted, I still get overwhelmed at times (especially when I don't pay attention to where I'm going/what's around me) but it's all part of the learning process, just try, try again as they always say (well, except for Yoda that is). I do think there is a big ramp up between core and HoT as previously noted, with little transition in the game compared to other MMO's. Certainly upgrading to Exotic equipment helped me (easy enough to pick up full gear set for under 10g) and (even though I bought it half way through HoT) I found LW2 a bit of help in adjusting too when I realised what they were. Though LW3 - seriously, how the hell you beat some of those bosses with no deaths is beyond me - thank god for checkpoints. Saying that, I love the HoT story line and the areas within it (even if I still get a bit lost in it at times) and can't wait to try it with my Guardian. Could Anet have done more to help with the transition between core and hot? Maybe. Is it that bad that it stops you playing? I don't believe it is, as others have said, it's about learning your character, adjusting your play method, and getting some upgrades here and there. If it's really bad, ask around for help - I've found this game to have the most mature and helpful community in an MMO to date (or I've been really lucky to miss the toxic players). I can certainly see why some have said HoT was/is intended for group play and personally I'm glad it has been made a little more solo friendly as I'm not a big fan of forced group play to progress through a story arc. Just be glad it's not like FFXI (well, when it first came out anyway) where EVERYTHING required a party for progress and if you died, you lost XP and levels! Anyway, each to their own and OP - I hope you find a way to enjoy HoT a bit more and progress through it :)
  6. Yep, booted when changing zones with error that login server could not be accessed. Error code: (Code=42:5:7:718:101). Seem I can log back in ok though. Done it three times today so far.
  7. I've only really been playing for a couple of months so still have to experience everything the current game/expansions have to offer but I'd like to see: New elite specs for all classes. (Maybe a Golum Master for engineer to allow us some minions to play with?)Additional weapons for each class (likely opened up due to new elite specs)Option to disable 4-legged running for Charr - I don't mind them running on 2 legs when wielding weapons but something about the four legged lumbering drives me nuts when playing one (a toggle option would be nice, not just having to keep drawing weapon over and over).More underwater weapon options (especially if there is going to be an underwater zone)More base customisation options for all races - hairs, facial hair, faces, etc.
  8. Same here, can log into existing characters (all restored fine, nothing missing save from about 20 silver on TP which has disappeared but can live without that), but can't create any new characters, shame as I was looking to try out Guardian or Warrior.
  9. Before they closed my ticket automatically I was told to adjust the option for streaming and see if that made a difference. This appears to have had a positive impact as I haven't been kicked out of a story instance since. Granted, on occasion it takes a little longer to load in all models (especially in busy areas like cities) but we're only talking a couple of seconds difference. Still had the odd game disconnect but nowhere near to the level I was having previously.
  10. Having the same issue myself - disconnections in the final 90% of a story instance, no issues in Open World, and normally right after a cutscene (skipped or not). I've only had it with Story instances after chapter 6 though - never in the early ones. Raised a ticket with support about it but just keep getting told it's not an issue with them it's the internet providers (who then state they can't find an issue with their systems and to go back to the developer). Looks like a tough-it-out and just keep trying situation.
  11. Looks very similar to the trace routes I've had to do for Arenanet looking into a disconnection issue during story instances. One thing I find interesting is that you're connecting to the EU Amazon AWS servers in Germany however the connection is routed from your location (Germany) to America (IP 52.93.111.150 - according to multiple IP location websites this is Amazon's network in Seattle, Washington, USA) and then back to Germany. I've pointed this out to Arenanet as it's the same thing I get trying to play from the UK on EU world - seems a bit silly having the traffic routed half way around the globe to be routed all the way back around again, and any packet loss along that route will cause disconnections (further testing on mine indicated major packet loss between an IP address in the UK for Amazon's systems and the next hop which was the IP address in America for Amazon). It looks to me like Amazon's network may be having the issue so technically not Arenanet or yourself, but as Arenanet host their servers with Amazon, it really needs to be Arenanet looking into it with Amazon support as most ISP's won't be able to.
  12. Just an update for anyone reading this - my ticket with support has been closed off stating they can't do anything until my ISP fixes the packet loss issue. My ISP have not found any packet loss between their systems and Amazon AWS (though WinMTR that support asked me to uses indicates major packet loss between Amazon's UK and US servers when I did have disconnections). Interestingly I have only had one instance of this happening since the last patch update. I've also noted (though testing on 3 different characters now) that it only seems to start happening after chapter 6/7 of the personal story. Chapters 1-5, no issues, Chapter 6 - 1 instance of the issue on 3 characters, Chapter 7 and above - I've lost count the number of story instances I've had issue on across the characters (though getting better on character 3 - 1 issue so far and just hit 80)! No add-ons installed at all, already rebuilt game files (fresh install), cleared temp cache (which seemed to help in some cases), disabled all background processes, etc. On plus side, ISP is sending me a shiny new router in case my old one is at fault (don't believe it is - only had connection issues with GW2). I guess this will just be a put-up with it, or leave the game situation.
  13. Always story instances for me too. I have a ticket open but they've come back with (what seems to be canned text as it doesn't actually mention my issue specifically more about rubber-banding in open world) about it being an ISP issue with dropped packets and nothing they can do which I find a bit of a let down as I have tried it on two completely separate internet connections with two different ISP's (same issue on both) and used VPN's to four different countries in the EU (with same issue). However, I have found something interesting - I grabbed a few IP's whenever I went into story instances and on the ones I had the issue on the IP was for Seattle, USA. I'm in the UK on a European world - when in Open World I get IP's for Frankfurt Germany (as expected) all the time where as story instances are 50/50 between Germany and USA. Going to mention this to them and see what I get back (it may be by design, it may not, who knows?).
  14. Got a case raised with them about it (not holding much hope on it though judging by the other posts I've read on this).
  15. Not seen any heavy ping spikes (largest seen was about 400 in Lions arch) in last week myself, but frequently getting disconnected during story instances/cutscenes. Only started happening in last week or two.
  16. Well, happened again on a different character - same instance and pratically at same moments (cutscenes when talking to Trahearne after rescuing second Asura team, or when about to take on the "boss" of the instance). Tapping movement keys didn't work this time. Have already repaired game client, removed appdata files, tried all three connection commands for ports, router has all ports open that are required. I'm going to submit case in game then I guess just perserve with it until I can get through. :(
  17. Interestingly, I don't seem to have the issue if I tap the movement keys during the cutscenes.
  18. Strangely enough, without making any changes to my system what-so-ever, today I managed to run through the instance with no disconnection at all. Probably a temporary server/internet issue.
  19. Just started happening today - I keep getting disconnected with error code 7:11:3:191:101, but only when I'm in the story instance for lvl 70 (Forging the Pact). I can go do anything else for hours without a problem but once I enter the instance I'll get randomly disconnected at any point during it when watching a cutscene. Obviously, because I haven't finished it I need to restart it from the beginning again (I've now "done" it 15 times!!) which is becoming a pain as I can't progress the story as a result. No issues with internet connection (wired, fibre, no issues with any other internet based services today) and as I've said - if I stay out of the instance I have no issues what-so-ever. Any help please?
