  1. This. I got the bonfire and the mount licence, and I'm still annoyed by how unfair it is. I'm not complaining that I got something, I'm puzzled by why not everyone did. The way I read the announcement, they are compensating for the inconvenience caused by the rollback, but NOT for the dowtime itself. So, if you didn't log in, you weren't affected, because downtime doesn't count. Flawless logic, right ? Quite frankly, the rollback itself doesn't bother me. Kitten happens. They fixed it, so I'm fine with that. However, not being able to play for something like 2 days, while I'm being confined home because of a world wide pandemic, yeah, that's annoying. And people who didn't log in to avoid messing things up even more were indeed affected too. Now just to clarify something : loging in wasn't "reckless" if it was done prior to the rollback itself. I was doing my dailies, just had killed the mega destroyer in Mount Maelstrom because it happened to be on by the time I got there, BAM, server crash, I'm back in Lion's Arch 3 days before. Couldn't have been anticipated, and I believe THAT is what is "compensated" here. All my progress was restored and that gave me a nice new mount skin, so in the end I'm fine with that. But really, why almost 2 days of downtime didn't result in everyone getting a new mount skin is beyond me. If I wanted players to riot, I wouldn't proceed any differently.
  2. AFTER / BEFORE. Read again, that should sole unncessary drama. Just saying. And yes, I would have brought the servers down too as soon as I would have noticed the issue. And if I were in charge of the technical issues, it means I would leave in Seattle, and so it would mean it happened at 4 freaking AM, while I would have been asleep. What do you think they did ? They DID bring the servers down as soon as they noticed, when they woke up...
  3. Considering that we all agreed to terms of services that specifically state that we can't expect servers up and running 24/7, non, we don't "deserve" anything. It would be much appreciated, though. Due to the crash and rollback, I couldn't get the ritualist staff I wanted, so... That would be my choice. Also, it might be worth mentionning that a weekly maintenance of several hours during which servers are down is common practice in many games. For instance, Elder Scrolls Online is especially good at requiring a maintenance to fix the errors introduced by the maintenance, so it's quite often Elder Scrolls Offline for half a day, and sometimes up to a whole day. Guild Wars 2 has a 30+ hours maintenance once every few years, granted a spectacular one, but overall that's much less downtime.
  4. It resolved itself after some minutes. Apparently the login server as just very busy.
  5. Well, the issue resolved itself. Looks like the servers were just a tad bit busy after all.
  6. I'm wondering if other people have the same issue. When the servers crashed and rollback happened, I was in Mount Maelstrom with my necromancer and we had just finished the volcano event. Game crashed, logged back in, rollback ensued, back 3 days before and in Lion's Arch. Then servers went down for a day long maintenance, and now supposedly everything is back to normal, or almost. And yet I can't log onto ANY character. I can reach character selection screen, chose one, start loading the game (by the way, me necromancer still appears to be in Lion's Arch), then time out, and error code 1083:5:7:1596:101. Tried twice with my necromancer in case it was a legit network issue, didn't work. Try another character, didn't work. Tried another character I hadn't played in a few days, didn't work. Each time, same error code. Gonna submit a support ticket. Anyone else has the issue ?
  7. Well, I can't even log into a character at all... I can reach the character selection screen, chose one, the game starts loading, then I get kicked and asked to verify my internet connection, which of course works fine... Error code : 1083:5:7:1596:101 Tried 3 different characters, including one that shouldn't have been affected by rollback at all, and none can log in.
  8. Dude... EVERYTHING that happened in the past 3 days is gone. You sold items ? You probably have them back. Unless you dropped them during the past 3 days, that is. You bought something ? No you didn't, but you still have the money... Let's wait until we get official word on the issue for now. No way to know what can / will be fixed and what can't / won't until then. Buy basically, yeah, 3 days rollback means everything that happened during the past 3 days never happened.
  9. I don't think rollback is something that can be considered for automation, rollback is sort of last resort type of thing, if things goes so wrong that it's not possible to fix stuff easily and quickly. Actually, it can be completely automated. And if they intended to do a rollback, they would have announced thet the servers would go offline, disconnected everyone, THEN rolled them back. They wouldn't do it with everyone logged in. In any case, it wouldn't have happened in a split second between the moment we all crashed and the minute or so when we all could log back in. Most likely, the main database crashed, for some reason, whatever it may be, the most up to date data couldn't be used, so the system automatically switched to whatever was available at that time, and it happened to be 3 days old data. Any IT-centered company worth their salt has several failsafes in place, in case the primary one doesn't work. Think what you will of NC Soft, but they're neither newcomers nor amateurs in that field. I've worked with companies who had either no backyup at all, terribly bad backup solutions, or even better, one instance of a company that wouldn't revoke former employee access to the systems, even though they parted in a less than nice way... Resulting in former employee malevolence and every clients' data being wiped out TWICE in a week. I'd wager we have a case of shitty secondary database background update here.
  10. Lost "only" some time, as it seems i'll have to explore Auric Basin and gain several mastery points again... That sucks, but not as much as what some of you guys experience. Still, how is that even possible ? I could understand a rollback of a few hours in case of a big crash, but several days ? Don't you guys backup your database every day at the very least ?
  11. Same here. Lost at least one day of exploration, several mastery points, and probably more but I logged off before doing the actual counting... Kinda pissed off right now.
