  1. You still don't get it. Either way I'm through with you. It's obvious you're not doing anything but intentionally riling people up.
  2. And you're still doing it. If. Hammer. Was. Ranged. Maybe. It. Could. Have. Replaced. Staff. Understand? Yes or no answers only please.
  3. You're continuously ignoring the part where I literally say, the new espec could have given us a viable ranged alternative finally so we're not stuck with staff. Stop cherry picking parts to try and suit your narrative.
  4. Mesmer's long range options are good. Both staff and greatsword are good. Guardian's scepter and staff are also fine, though I dislike the change to staff 1. You can move and reposition while casting and they have faster cast times. Longbow is also fine, especially now that you can move while casting the 5 skill. Rifle on warrior is bad yes, but longbow is fine and usable with Berserker. Hammer on revs...do I really need to say anything? It's fine. Engi's have all their kits available and pistol is lackluster yes, but if you're not using kits as an engi then what are you even doing? Same for rifle. It's never been used as a damage option, it's always been another tool in their arsenal. As for their kits, grenades and mortars are both fine long range options. Ranger has longbow which has always been in a good spot. Necro staff might need some updates but it still feels better to use because it doesn't lock you in place and the marks are triggered and deliver instantly. Thief and rifle....it's fine. That leaves us with staff on ele. That locks you in place for animations and those that don't will cancel if you move. That requires enemies to stand stationary for 3-5 seconds before you start doing damage. That has such slow projectiles you can miss an entire zerg because I can leave my PC, drive to the supermarket, and make it back before the projectile makes it 600m. Other classes can compensate because they can switch weapons. Ele's cant. The problem with staff is the same no matter what attunement you're in.
  5. I have a singular ranged weapon available to me. The same one for the past 9 years. One that's' worse now than when the game launched those 9 years ago. Other ranged weapons don't have the issues that Staff does. Small QoL updates or improvements would help tremendously but anet has shown that they don't want staff to be good. So we're stuck with long cast times, where you can't move or the cast will be canceled, and damage that requires people to stand in them for extended periods.
  6. Say what you want, but the problems with staff will never be fixed. It won't happen. The second point being that it does matter about Catalyst coming with a ranged or melee weapon because there were already MORE melee options available for people to choose than there were any useful ranged options. People keep saying well what's stopping you from using the current ranged options with Catalyst? Nothing, but we're sick of having to use the same thing for the past 9 years. That argument goes both ways, what would be stopping people from using melee options with Catalyst if hammer was ranged? Nothing, and the upside to that is that the current melee options don't have the same issues that the ranged options have. So not only are we getting shafted out of what could have potentially been a good ranged option, we're still stuck with using the same crap we have been for the past 9 years that won't ever be in a good place because of how it's designed.
  7. And scepter is also useless for WvW outside of roaming applications with FA. Which is a notoriously tricky spec to play and has severe limitations. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll tool around doing story and open world PvE stuff with hammer just fine, but this was a great chance for them to do something with hammer that could have made people pick between it and staff for WvW. Trade the high potential damage from the staff for lower guaranteed damage with more options for CC. Walls, and reflects etc. You know how the forge casters can create those fire walls? Things like that.
  8. How about one that doesn't lock us in place while casting. One that doesn't have slow projectile skills that can be reflected, evaded or dodged by somebody tapping the A or D keys. One that doesn't take 3-5 seconds after hitting the button for damage to START being delivered let alone the full skills worth?
  9. The point being every time a new spec has been released the melee crowd has been catered to and has had new "toys" to play with and use to change things up if they so choose. They get variety. They get new things. All of us that want something new are told too bad. You know what it's like using the same weapon for the past 9 years because it's literally the ONLY option? On top of the fact that in that time it hasn't even had QoL updates or any improvements but instead constant nerfs? And here we are STILL stuck with it and people are acting like we're being unfair.
  10. The issue with the people who "literally prefer melee Elementalist" is that they've already had BOTH previous expansions dedicated to them with Tempest and Weaver being melee. And all of a sudden it's too much to ask for some actual variety and to give the other half something that they want and have been desperate for for YEARS? This thread is just a whole lot of selfishness from everybody who wants melee ele because Tempest and Weaver wasn't exactly the melee spec they wanted. Now they have A THIRD CHANCE to try out ANOTHER melee spec to see if they prefer that over any of the multitude of others available to the class. Meanwhile here we are, the rest of the people that play ele and don't care about stacking in a melee ball wailing on a raid boss' left ankle getting told to suck it up because we have Staff and Scepter. The same kitten we've had since LAUNCH and have had to deal with. Staff being the ONLY actual long range weapon usable and the same weapon that's been constantly kitten on and nerfed with ZERO indication of anything good ever happening to it in the future. Core game started out with melee and ranged options available. HoT released with tempest and ele got another melee centered spec. PoF released with Weaver and ele got another melee centered spec. EoD is now releasing with, you guessed it, ANOTHER MELEE CENTERED SPEC, and we're being told WELL U HAVE STAFF WHY DO U WANT MORE.
  11. Obviously they're not when the forum is currently in an uproar over ANOTHER melee spec. But go ahead and keep your head in the sand. There's a point in time, like it or not, when the devs DON'T actually know what's best. There's plenty of other now dead MMO's to be used as examples.
  12. You need to learn some social nuance because you're taking every comment to the extreme literal definition. You're doing it for one of two reasons, and one is medical. The other is just because you're an kitten. Obviously there's going to be outliers that want something that the vast majority do not, but just because a handful of people compared to the overwhelming majority want something doesn't mean that they should be the ones catered to, to turn the argument back on you. The biggest issue we have is that hammer could have been a much needed refreshing weapon for ele. Instead, we get more melee. This wouldn't be the issue that it is if our current TWO choices for range weren't nearly dumpster tier. If staff and scepter were inline with the current version of the game it'd be much less of an issue, but as it stands, we're screwed out of any GOOD ranged weapons and there doesn't seem to be any hope for a fix. I don't PvE. If hammer works in whatever yall do for PvE fantastic. Great. I'm sick of being forced to use an outdated clunky weapon like staff that can't keep up in WvW because of all of the slow cast times, cast times that require me to be stationary for extended periods of time or they get canceled, and delay on damage from those skills.
  13. We have an outdated staff and scepter to use for range. The past TWO expansions have already been melee and you're trying to justify the fact that it's better to give us more of what we already have instead of MORE OPTIONS.
  14. Except you're completely ignoring the video that's been posted where it's straight up TOLD US that hammer was melee, as well as showing it in use IN MELEE. With how far you've buried your head in the sand it wouldn't surprise me to see you continue to deny the fact that it's melee even after the beta weekend comes out and it's playable.
  15. Funny, then I guess the /age on my account is about 3300 days off then.
