I would guess there won't be a ton of class balance since we just had a big patch followed by another one. We mostly know what the few new weapon skills are and what they do and only a few of them are expected to really change.

The only big expected thing effecting balance at launch is the rune/relic changes and if we don't get notes on them tomorrow we probably won't before launch. They have probably said everything they are going to about those.

Where can I see the new weapon skills?

Here are some ideas for weaver skill 3:

Fire/Earth: Explosive round, Breaks defiance, applies bleeding

Fire/Water: Vent Steam: Releases superheated steam from the pistol in an AOE around the player, causing blindness and dealing damage.

Fire/Air: Dragon's Breath: Conal AOE shot, applies burning

Earth/Water: Mud shot: Fire at the target to cause slowness

Earth/Air: Bean bag shot: Purely CC, causes knockdown, large defiance break, and a long cooldown

I couldn't think of anything for water/air sadly.

These are nice.  So sick of having rubbish anti-break bar abilities.

  3. And we all know Elementalist attacks with be like:

    Flame melee

    - 0 range, 100 damage, after 17 hits do 1 burn for 0.5 seconds

    While Guardians will get:

    Everything Shot

    - 1200 range, piercing, instant, hits 5 targets doing 3 bleed and 2 burn; gives Aegis to 5 allies in 1200 range

    - If you only hit a single target, generates 10 stacks of 5 second burn instead.

I have (it's amusing how many people respond to disagreement by assuming the other person hasn't used the thing). The AoE buffs are mostly 600 range. The fire field has 600 range - that's short for a ranged weapon, but even I'd say that's not exactly melee. Cyclone, Duststorm, and Lightning Orb are relatively slow moving, but have wide enough radiuses that avoiding them is more than simply sidestepping. It's certainly not an offhand you'd bring for sniping someone at the very edge of your range, to be sure, but it works pretty well as a standoff offhand to combine with 900 range scepter for additional AoE presence.

Because after using the warhorn for years, calling it a range support weapon is ridiculous.  So you will be questioned on whether you use it.

Lightning Orb is best for big targets in melee, Wildfire is for short range denial and damage, and your CC is for close range.  I mean,, seriously, only Lightning Orb can actually hit at 900 range, but it is a slow moving single target orb.

Warhorn was designed to work with the Tempest, which is a melee spec, and nothing has changed about that.

isn't sword and pistol both mainhand? so a combo the two is not possible. for thief pistol whip is with pistol in the offhand.  wonder what skills we get and am mostly excited for weaver dual skills. a friend of mine thought about meme weapons per class and interestingly we were right with rifle mesmer and pistol ele.

Pistol whipping is when you smack someone with the butt/handle/other hard part of the gun.

if you are referring to PVE, 98% of the content you can destroy with avg 15k dps, so 40 , 38 , 35  30 , etc so it doesn't matter.  The primary issue for Ele at the mo is  bust Cata.

What an absolutely useless post.  kitten balance because we can destroy content with anything!!11

Not really. Most of the skills have ranges between 600 and 750, which is reasonable when paired with a 900-range mainhand (can't sit at the very edge of your range but can still use most of it). The exceptions are Lightning Orb which goes out to 1200, and Tidal Surge which fits the typical 'ranged weapon has a close-range knockback' mould.

It has a collection of AoE buffs, slow moving skills, and melee fields.  It is very much a melee weapon (try using it).

It depends. Weaver breakbar damage is very good but behind attunements. All utility cc is on icebow and lightning hammer. Wouldnt be an issue if conjures wouldnt be so weak.

Deepfreeze does 400 while sanctuary does 1050 on a lower cd.

I play a Weaver.  Rapidly switching through 6 attunements for your CC, is not the same as hitting one utility button or just weapon swapping.

1- True, it isn't always displayed in the tooltip. This give the devs some room for tooltip fix when they need to buff up a patch note.

2- I disagree, I do think it's a good thing for weaponsets to provide different amount of defiance break. It lead intelligent players to make choice for their builds.

3- I'm 100% sure the devs take it into account within their definition of power budget. Players when they define the "meta", thought? Probably not.

    4- Again, not an issue.

    5- It's a non-issue.

6- Some tooltips are already bloated, I don't think listing each and every conditions impact on the breakbar is something that will improve the game.

You cannot just magic it away by saying 'not an issue' while explaining absolutely nothing.

The fact is, there is a massive difference between professions when it comes to breakbar damage, especially when it comes to utilities.  And no, I doubt the devs have EVER taken breakbar damage into consideration for profession balance.

Tornado.  But seriously, your complaint is that you have to swap attunements to get the most out of the profession?  I also only brought up sword as the "great cc" option because I rightly suspected that you just wanted to complain rather than be rational about this.

There is a reason you are getting the confuse face.

Cycling through multiple different attunements and dual-skills for 6 seconds (while being prepared in advance thanks to weaver's mechanics of secondary attunement), is COMPLETELY different to pushing your 4/5 key and using a utility or elite.

As a WvW player I understand where they're coming from with the Catalyst nerfs. Now that they already made Tempest decent, and are even buffing it further, Catalyst would be by far best DPS. It is already the best one in my eyes due to how strong pulsing boons are and how it can actually attune to CC on demand unlike weaver. Catalyst will still be quite busted with middle bottom bottom traits, sacrificing DPS for ton of AoE boons that are hard to get.

I do think that hitting 10 stacks of EE reliably is going to be near impossible, and they should either increase stack duration or make Elemental Empowerment proc already at 9 stacks.

I do believe tempest buff is overkill tho, the class does so much else. 0.4 -> 0.65 healing coefficient would be more reasonable.

Wtf are you talking about?  Catalyst can actually do something other than roam badly in WvW?

That's your opinion and it is not shared universally by the community.  For example, here's a reddit thread from a few days ago asking which class is the most well-designed in terms of pure fun to play.  If you skim through the thread, weaver is mentioned repeatedly (40+ times, in fact) and has hundreds of upvotes.  I'm not about to run a thorough analysis on all the comments (the thread is rather large), but it's plain to see that weaver stands out as a crowd favorite there.

Just because you hate it doesn't mean everyone else agrees with you.  Likewise for your focus on PvP.  PvE is far more popular in this game and PvE players absolutely care about how well their spec of choice performs in that game mode.

Weaver is fun to play, and not too hard.  Catalyst and its 400 timers and trackers is the problem.

Also, Elementalist is the least played profession in raids, strikes and fractals.
