Well, there is a price to the investment. Beside, the question is "which new elite have the most sustain?" not "which new elite can reckt everything all while having godlike sustain?" So like I said, as long as you're willing to invest you'll get high sustain no matter which profession.

The answer to your second question is still Vindicator.

  2. Everyone agreed the Hammer had major issues, even the golem beaters.  None of these were addressed.

On top of this, the traits were left as the uninspired stat boost rubbish they started as, and the so-called Augments stayed as copies of other abilities.  The Elite also kept the ridiculous 90 second cooldown it had when it was a different ability.

    Anet did not even TRY.

For open world something along these lines: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGQAIlZwaZrsL2LOKLbxXA-zxIY1og/MKVCUzCQeDA-e

In short celestial gear with rune of the traveler and a hammer with sigil of the stars and sigil of battle. Traits fire 112, air 321, catalyst 332.

Between this and elemental empowerment you can get 870 to every stat. Add fury and max might (there are several sources of both in the build) and you have >3000 power, >80 % crit chance, >240 % crit damage, almost 2000 condi damage, 88 % burning duration, and 73 % boon duration (gotta have that air quickness). Add to this 22k health and 3k toughness so we are not exactly glass.

How will you get to 10 Elemental Empowerment stacks?

Maybe that specific line wasn't specific, which is probably why you chose it out of the entire response, but it should be rephrased as, "maybe hammer catalyst isn't meant for pvp" (I did further elaborate this in a later response). I say this because many people discover sPvP catalyst builds that did fairly well using weapons other than hammer.

That would be dagger/dagger, which nearly identical to the non-cata version.  Without the hammer, the Catalyst is just a slightly different or enhanced base-version.

Quickness didn't change? Aren't you forgetting how traits synergize? Stalwart Speed to be exact. That's the issue with anet also, before nerfing they don't really think how it will impact traits.

That was actually the main point of the nerf...

  6. - Hammer 3 still exists with its 5 second refreshing duration, making the Weaver look passive.

    - Gap closers are still missing

    - Earth still lacks bleeds, especially on the auto-attack, and Fire lacks burn stacks.

    - Air auto still does no damage.

    - Break-bar ability is still linked to 2 horrible to use air abilities, one which can push you through the world, while the other is hilariously bad to target with.

    - Utility skills also went unchanged, and the Elite skill is a complete joke (90 second cooldown?).

    - Also, how is this spec supposed to survive in WvW or PvP?

  7. Catalyst

Catalyst Hammer is still complete trash.  Hammer 3 is still there ruining it with piano play, it has very little condition damage on its condition abilities, you are still paper, still cannot break defiance bars, and still has poor tracking/mobility.

While Jade Sphere is now off the global cooldown and can generate energy while one is out (good changes), Quickness was nerfed, the only good boon.

The Utility skills were unchanged, with only 2 being viable, still the Elite is STILL 90 seconds for crap.

Why even have the 2nd beta?

ok i think i need to clarify, im not too into wvw, even so wvw is a pvp open world mode and you have zergs, people soloing camps, thiefs being like mosquitoes etc, i think it is more flexible in the end, at least more than static boses like raid or fracts. might be mistaken tho

You are very mistaken.  A zerg with heavy Firebrand and Scrappers will roll over a 'balanced' group of all professions.
