  1. Used to be you earnt 2% Gold Find bonus every 28 days. Now its 2% every (roughly) 3 months. Like others have pointed out the stat has very little impact and dosnt really matter, but the change makes no sense to me. If its a really minor stat why nerf its acquisition so drastically?
  2. All in all I think the new rewards are great. I am unnecessarily bothered by the Essences of Gold though, yes they are a super minor and very unimpactful thing (the Gold Find they give having little to no actual impact) but for some reason it just really bothers me that it has gone from 2% a month in the old log in rewards to now 2% every (roughly) three months? Just why? Seems so unnecessary a change especially considering this is the only way to gain the item? Why not just have 6 "Lesser Essences of Gold" in the store so you could still theoretically gain the same amount of it as in the old system? Why even introduce "Lesser Essences of Gold" in the first place? Why not just have 3 normal ones? Or if they wanted to nerf its acquisition from some unknown reason why not just make it 2 regular essences instead of lesser ones so its 4% instead of 2%? This is ultimately a super minor nitpick and shouldnt bother me nearly as much as it does, but it just makes zero sense to me.
  3. Its not the biggest deal in the world as its ultimately not all that impactful a stat, but the old daily log in rewards resulted in you getting a 2% increase every month, the new Wizards Vault seemingly results in you only getting 2% every 3 months instead? (assuming it only resets quarterly as has been said, and you only be able to purchase "Lesser Essence of Gold" in the store which give only 1% each). It seems like such an unnecessary and in my opinion kinda unfair change, considering this is a scarce item that can only be acquired via log in rewards (and a single one from an achievement). Long time active players have no doubt been able to stack that up over years and it will now be much slower and harder for new players to do the same. This kinda bothers me precisely because its not that impactful a stat, so why change the rate at which it is earnt? Why not make it so you could purchase 3 regular essences of gold during a single reset resulting in the same potential rate of 2% a month/6% every three months?
  4. It happens without fail, I have tried every conceivable solution I can think off: skipping the cutscene (dosnt seem to be skippable at all), pressing buttons while the cutscene is active, closing all background apps and programs etc, running the game at the lowest graphics settings, changing to a lower resolution, changing from windowed fullscreen to dedicated full screen, repairing the launcher, reinstalling the game, restarting the entire chapter from the beginning, updating my graphics drivers and checking the health of my PC, all of that and yet nothing. It crashes, EVERY, SINGLE, TIME. And I have done it several times, with it disconnecting at the exact same point each time, right after the cutscene where Kralkatorrik blasts you and aurene with his breath and it cuts to black. This is beyond infuriating, this is beyond ridiculous. I just want to play the game and actually progress in the story, so what the hell is the solution here? I have tried googling it, yet nothing, people have discussed this being an issue but not once has anyone suggested a working (in my case) solution.
  5. Necroing this thread, because I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution? Because I have tried everything the wiki suggests, and just to go over all that for the sake of clarity. Tried everything suggested, afflicted 2 of the crystals with fragility then destroyed them to get it to 75% and then destroyed the rest within 15 seconds to get it to to 0 in less than 15 seconds. I went and took it from 100 to 0 in one go, I tried attacking it myself then doing both of the aforementioned things. None of which earnt the achievement. I replayed it and tried to complete it again twice but it still didnt work. Havnt found anyone talk about a solution so hoping to hear if someone has figured it out, or if it is just broken.
  6. Of Joko and Lazarus, Lazarus is the main one I have an issue with, the way he was bought back and then defeated just feels so disjointed and rushed, they have a single episode just to revive him and kill him off in a season that until that point had been building up to and focusing on Balthazar. Had they just kept Lazarus as a red herring villain who was actually Balthazar in disguise, that would be far better IMO. But taking a detour to suddenly bring him back just to immediately kill him off feels like it was done purely to tie up that narrative for the sake of not having to worry about it in the future. They should just not have bought him back at all. I definitely agree that a raid would be the perfect solution to implementing and tying up Lazarus. Joko I feel he was wasted purely because of how good he is in GW2 itself, what we do get of him is so great that it then feels like a waste to me for us to get so little of it. A few more episodes, a few more actual appearances and interactions would have been awesome. But Primordus is definitely the worst, how little development and content he got is criminal, I could get behind him not having much personality and his whole thing being that hes the simpler more brutish dragon, but at least give him actual content, some more maps, some more story moments, champions, minions etc. Also, surely when focusing on Primordus there should be some more Asura and Dwarf involvement as they were the races who were most affected by him.
  7. Been replaying the story from the start, and its rally made me realize that they love just wasting characters and storylines that have alot of potential which is just terribly disappointing. Lazarus, Joko, Primordus being three of the most egregious examples, each one could have seen an entire Living World season or even Expansion dedicated to them, but they are just killed off with so little care nor extensive story exploration. As disappointing as this is, I at least hope that they will be able to get to a point after EoD in which they have closed all the narrative threads that exist, as at least then they could hopefully have a fresh start and create new stories and everything altogether, which I would hope would be better quality and more consistent.
  8. Yeah I mention that. I was basically just positing that the scenario I described is the only one I could imagine were new races could be implemented seamlessly and without the issue/with the playerbase supporting it. Could also take the same logic and basically just apply it to a hypothetical Guild Wars 3 and having new races be implemented in that. But I doubt we will ever get a Guild Wars 3. But yeah, it was less an actual suggestion and just hypothetical.
  9. I have recently thought that the best way new playable races could be introduced is alongside a sort of soft reset of the world. Given the current longtime narrative of Guild Wars 2 is seemingly coming to an end, with End of Dragons implying we are going to defeat the final Elder Dragon and put a close to that storyline, and given they have said that this wont be the end of GW2 and the game will see future releases, there will be a need for a large scale central storyline for future content and expansions, would be a sort of new beginning, if this came with a large scale change to the current open world maps, and based of how Guild Wars 2 maps work (this is my assumption and wishful thinking, I may be entirely wrong and this is not possible) it could be possible to create new instances of every open world map only accessible to people who have completed the original Guild Wars 2 content, could see changes like Orr being restored, less Elder Dragon influence etc. and new races could come in here with players having the option to start new characters of the new races in this new instance of the world. Would basically divide all of Tyria into separate pre-EoD and post-EoD open worlds. Now realistically thats probably way to large scale, they would have to introduce ALOT of new content to these new versions of the core Tyria maps in order to encourage players to re-explore them, and I imagine it would divide the player base way too much. But, focusing purely on my wishful thinking, I imagine that would be the best way to implement new races as you could create new characters and start over in this semi-new open-world, have new stories revolving around whatever the new overarching plot is etc.
  10. Im not saying they will or that they should, only that they could. Its purely a few very basic examples to reinforce that they dont HAVE to do elite specs all the time with each expansion. Yeah I know that, I was purely speaking about myself personally. But I also imagine the vast majority of players would rather continue to see Guild Wars 2 updated and supported rather than have to restart in a Guild Wars 3. Also Guild Wars 1 only lasting 7 years is absolutely no argument for Guild Wars 2 not to be supported longer, WoW aside there is SWTOR, Final Fantasy XIV, Elder Scrolls Online, all games that are over 7 years old, still very active, and still receiving regular support and updates and likely will do for a long time to come. The vast majority of MMOs are in it for longrun, they are live service games that are updated and iterated upon not games that get dropped and have sequels released, in that regard Guild Wars is one of the few exceptions of an MMO that did stop getting developed in place of a sequel instead, though that can easily be seen as being necessary due to the fact that GW1 was not a true MMO (or more specifically, open world MMO, its a squad based multiplayer game with MMO instances/hubs) and such a large transition to turning it into one absolutely required a new game altogether. This point is irrelevant to my overarching point, and any relevant point I have in response to this I just made. But... Runescape. Except they dont need to, it would be a waste of development time and resources as well as the players investment in the game to create a sequel rather than just updating the game. And new mechanics absolutely dont require a new game, since the launch of GW2 we have got a new profession, elite specs, the mastery system, raids, gliders, mounts and so on and so forth all new mechanics that provide new gameplay and progression opportunities and there can very easily be far more of that going forward. The only reason to make a Guild Wars 3 is if they wanted to undergo a massive scale transition, such as creating a single massive scale open world map rather than multiple separate ones, or a massive graphical or gameplay shift such as moving to an action combat system. Nothing short of that would require a new game and could just be done in updated/expansion to Guild Wars 2 instead.
  11. Future expansions dont NEED elite specs, they could always replace them by expanding upon the games content in other ways from entirely new professions altogether, new races, new weapons or they could create a brand new sort of progression system altogether or (and god I pray they dont) could introduce a higher regular level cap to add some vertical progression (which I am massively opposed to personally, but could be done), so I dont see elite specs being a thing that would contribute to them not doing any new expansions or not. Personally I would be extremely disappointed if this is genuinely the end of Guild Wars 2, personally I have only recently returned to the game so it would be an extreme bummer for me if my return had to be fairly short lived (in the grand scheme of MMOs). The only real reason to make a GW3 instead of just expanding and updating 2 is if there is a massive leap/change in terms of gameplay, graphics etc. otherwise there is no real point in doing so especially from a designer perspective. Look at WoW for instance, they just constantly update and expand on a single game theres no WoW 2 afterall. They can create a new storyline after the dragons have been defeated and then create new expansions of that, theres so many new locations and potential new things to do in GW2 that it would be a waste not to.
  12. I like how you find it odd a Thief PC would have been a... you know, thief. Sylvari I see what you mean, but its easy to imagine that the player character could be a proper thief and criminal on the side, at least up until they join an Order and truly start to take the whole "Be a good guy and defeat the Elder Dragons" thing to heart. Human Noble though could easily have been a part time criminal, its not unheard of especially in fiction for wealthy people to take up crime for the thrill of it, I always imagine that my Human Noble Thief was always a bit of a troublemaker and rouge who stole from other nobles for the thrill of it (I also imagine that given they were already rich and just doing it for the thrill they were somewhat of a Robin Hood figure who gave away anything they stole, because after all they dont need it)
  13. Probably... actually almost definitely, has been said by someone else already. But for the most part in GW2 they are allies of convenience, they are basically in a ceasefire and have agreed that the Elder Dragons are a bigger threat and they really need to focus on them first and foremost, during most of Guild Wars 2 the Humans and Charr are in the process of negotiating a permanent peace but there is still alot of animosity on both sides that has limited progress, and as far as I am aware (unless I have just completely forgotten) they still haven't finished the peace negotiations and they are very much in progress still.
  14. Really sorry if a thread like this exists already, tried searching for one but couldnt find it. Given only one Elder Dragon (well, hostile Elder Dragon) remains and assuming that EoD really will be... well, the End of Dragons. Where do you think the future of Guild Wars 2 and its story will go? I cant imagine that this will be the last expansion or story content given how the game is still very alive and one of the most active MMOs on the market, and I certainly cant imagine there is the demand or much reason for them to end GW2 and make a GW3 instead, so I feel its safe to assume that the game will be alive, updated and supported for years to come. So given that, where do you all think things will go once the Elder Dragon narrative is wrapped up? So far the entire story of Guild Wars 2 has in one way or another revolved around the conflict with the Elder Dragons, the only story content that could be considered particularly separate is the Personal Story up until you join an Order, but I cant imagine after all the heights and grand places the story has taken us since then that they would deescalate and start telling more personal lower stakes stories again. I feel alot of the existing story threads are not really suitable for taking over as a main story line, only possibilities I could imagine for a new main story is something entirely new (as in, a brand new threat that hasnt been seen before) or maybe some kind of conflict between the different races of Tyria, given the player characters role as the Pact Commander and later Dragons Watch it would be easy to place the players in a role of trying to keep/restore peace so it wouldnt need any sort of Horde Vs Alliance or other faction type system and so the existing content and maps could be left mostly the same. Very interested in hearing what peoples thoughts and ideas may be and whether there is any potential narratives that may exist/have been hinted to which I have overlooked.
  15. I did, and I didnt find any that actually discussed how they would feel about it coming at the cost of other mechanics/additions. Most Tengu searches just result in this thread.
