    What this doesn't explain is:

    1. How did Soo-Won get Zhaitan's (and Mordremoth's) magic when distance is apparently a factor.
    2. In fact, why did the magic flow directly to her, when Zhaitan's and Mordremoth's magic pooled up in the ley-lines instead?
    3. If she got Zhaitan's (and Mordremoth's) magic from so far away, why didn't she get any of Kralkatorrik's (or Balthazar's) magic if Primordus and Jormag did as hinted?
    1. Aurene wasn't there to absorb most of Zhaitan, and Mordremoth's, magic.
    2. The magic didn't flow directly to her. As the dialogue you posted states, it went back to the ley-lines, like it did in previous Elder Dragon deaths, and made its way to her over the long gap between the end of IBS, and the beginning of EoD.
    3. Because Aurene was there when Kralk died, and directly absorbed his magic to make herself and Elder Dragon, taking the overwhelming majority of Kralk, and Balthazar's magic that Kralk had taken, into herself. Leaving what little remained to go to Primordus and Jormag who were far closer, and not enough to make it down to Soo-Won.

    All pretty easy stuff.

Except for the fact that it's explicitly stated to be Kralkatorrik's specific weakness, the resonance of his specific crystal signature.

Is it a poorly thought out unique weakness? Yeah, because it relies on a stereotype of layman knowledge of crystal overused in fictional media.

Yes, because it isn't just the normal resonance of crystals. Its a specific thing due to how his power works. Its not poorly thought out, makes perfect sense.

1 hour ago, Konig Des Todes.2086 said:

    To address your points specifically:

    To address your "counter" points

    1. I was pointing out the resonance between Crystals Kralk and his minions share, this isn't, and doesn't, change the other point made. Its just further evidence of the crystal resonance.
    2. Taimi's line is pretty clear in what she was saying. How else would Primordus' resonance with his minions get more powerful unless he got a specific magic to boost it? His fire magic doesn't just get better because he absorbed the plant spectrum or w/e.
    3. Yes, the resonance of Kralk's crystals specifically. Like every other NPC talking about.
    4. But, again, they weren't talking about just ANY magic, they were talking specifically about the Branded being empowered by the brand lighting, aka, the "Fury" of the Brandstorm as its called in later maps.

In short, all the examples given specifically relate to a unique power gaining process to the Branded that the other Elder Dragon's don't share except Primordus, whose similar power appears to be slightly different in how it operates.

1 hour ago, Konig Des Todes.2086 said:

This argument makes even less sense though. How did Soo-Won get power from Zhaitan, Mordremoth, Primordus, and Jormag but not Kralkatorrik when Kralkatorrik was the closest to Soo-Won when he died compared to the others.

And we know that Soo-Won got a significant amount of Zhaitan's death, as well as Jormag's and Primordus', because that's literally the lore behind dragonjade. Even if you excuse Kralkatorrik with "because Aurene was right there" to collect most of it, it is still contradictory because Primorus, Kralkatorrik, and Jormag "were right there" as well - far closer than Soo-Won was, that's for kitten sure. So how the hell did Soo-Won get Zhaitan magic back when Zhaitan died (which also created dragonjade), but not Kralkatorrik magic.

Again, because Aurene wasn't there to absorb the lion's share of the magic when Zhaitan and Mordrmeoth died, like she was for Kralk. It just went back into the ley-lines, eventually making its way to the other Elder Dragons including Soo-Won.

For Jormag and Primordus there were no other Elder Dragons besides Aurene and Soo-Won to take the magic after they died, and Jormag and Primordus were way too juiced from the months long campaign of destruction across the previous Champion's chapters for Aurene to absorb it all. Leaving it to go back into the ley-lines, and travel down to Soo-Won

You know that resonance is a natural aspect of crystals, right?

You are aware that its a natural aspect of literally EVERYTHING right? All things technically vibrate at a certain frequency, and can resonate with each other if their frequencies line up. That's part of the reason why furniture in one part of a house can start to vibrate when you have a motor on in another part of the house. Soldiers marching on a bridge can cause it to collapse if their marching matches the natural vibrating frequency of the bridge.

By your argument here you could've beaten Jormag by just making a giant sound gun that resonates at the same frequency of his ice. You can do that with literally anything. That, in itself, isn't a specific weakness.

45 minutes ago, Konig Des Todes.2086 said:

Uhmm... Branded didn't have increased power via harmonizing or fury, nor increased destructive power/rage/fierceness/violence.

    They literally do though.

It not only happens in the Shatterer event in core, but also with the "recharging" and "empowering" crystals back in LWS4EP1, to name a few examples. Taimi even specifically calls out Primordus' feedback loop being strengthened by Kralk's death(because Kralk did the same kitten thing with his crystal minions). Glint even points out the "strength" of this resonance, and how it can also be made into a weakness, by throwing it back at Kralk with a refined weapon like the spear. Its the whole basis behind why the dragonsblood weapons work, and much of the power of the Branded.

    Likewise

You see those bolts of lightning out there? Pure Branded energy. I've been studying how the storm's swells effect the Branded creatures, and the results are promising.

    What did you learn?

As the Brandstorm swells, the Branded creatures behave erratically. Some grow in number or become violent, but all seem almost drawn to the storm.

Why do you think that is?

I believe they're drawn not just to the storm, but to the collection of pure Branded energy. If I could study it firsthand I could learn more about the nature of the Dragonbrand.

Of course, if it is Kralk's magic, then that opens a whole new can of worms. Specifically: how did Jormag and/or Primordus get Kralkatorrik magic, but Soo-Won didn't? Either with Kralk's death, or with J+P's deaths? The entire purpose of Ankka hitting Soo-Won was to give her the crystal domain, the final domain she didn't have, so as to unleash Void, after all.

They mention this back in like LWS3. Because Jormag was much farther away from Zhaitan/Mordremoth when they died, it got significantly less of their power than Primordus did, leading to much fewer mixed power minions. Given Soo-Won's extreme distance from all the other Elder Dragons, it makes sense it wouldn't get any, or at least any appreciable, amount of magic from Kralk's death. Especially since Aurene was right there to collect most of it when she ascended. The remaining bits going to Primordus and Jormag due to proximity.

Sounds like the crystal domain to me… not Fury… in fact harmonization doesn’t remotely even come close to anything describing what Fury is, but again how would anyone know, since Fury was some sort of Hail Mary after Kralkatorrik died to give it a second sphere of influence, which is another failure in the story.

What does saying a Hail Mary mean?
The term "Hail Mary" is sometimes used to refer to any last-ditch effort with little chance of success.

That's not what a Hail Mary means.

    Also

1: intense, disordered, and often destructive rage

    b: an avenging spirit
c: one who resembles an avenging spirit
    3: extreme fierceness or violence
    4 : a state of inspired exaltation : frenzy

The increasing power of the branded via harmonization would fit several definitions of fury. As it it increases their destructive power/rage/fierceness/violence.

The Frozen do come out of left field. Why did Jormag need two Asura to figure out that it could create Frozen? The game doesn’t explain or even hint at it until we are about halfway through Champions, it would make more sense if this was a new ability that Jormag gained from Kralkatorrik, but again that wasn’t stated or hinted anywhere.

Why would Jormag not need two Asure to figure it out? The Elder Dragons are not all knowing entities. They're mortal, fallible, and have limited knowledge. Just like MANY people in real life who invented something needed someone ELSE to point out a useful application of said invention to the original inventor. That's just reality. There's almost certainly numerous possible applications for each of the Elder Dragon's magics that they never used because they had no reason to do it, and thus, no reason to think about doing it.

I listen to the npc dialogue, I comb through each of the dragon minions hoping to see some sort of combat ability or hint at to what these spheres of influence do. There aren’t any and unfortunately the story did not explain these spheres enough to be honest. The narrative team should have stuck with a more simple concept. Zhaitan is the Death dragon and death only. Mordremoth is the Jungle dragon, etc. I think they wrote themselves into a corner and did a bad job of explaining things.

There are several hints, you just missed them.

Where did you acquire this interpretation of the Fury Sphere?

HMMMM lets think about it shall we?

    • The spheres represent the unique things the dragons do
    • Kralks is Crystal and Fury
    • Kralk makes crystal minions(hence Crystal domain)
    • His crystal minions have the unique ability to harmonize with each other to make themselves more powerful(wonder what this domain could be!)

    This doesn't require deep thought/investigation.

Jormag’s Frozen came suddenly out of left field. Is it a new ability learned from Kralkatorrik? Did Jormag always know how to do this?

The phrase "coming out of left field" implies its something that just happened with no build up, when the game explicitly shows us how the revelation Jormag could do it was made. Thus, it doesn't meet the criteria for "coming out of left field"

And no, Jormag didn't always know how to do this.... hence why Ryland needed to hear Taimi's report on Primordus' minions, and do experimentation, to develop the tactic.... as I already pointed out.

When did Jormag figure out after being alive for thousands upon thousands of years that it can make Frozen…

We're explicitly shown this in Champions.

    1. Taimi collects data on Primordus' minions, and their elemental feedback loop, in the Metrica Province DRM
    2. Taimi presents this evidence before the Arcane Council, and Ryland, in the "Jormag's World" story instance at Rata Sum, with Ryland saying he has time to "experiment"
    3. In the immediate next DRM, the one at Lake Doric, we see Jormag/Ryland start freezing people, in order to mimic what Primordus was doing, as a means to boost Jormag's power.

Then we learn post humerus that Kralkatorrik’s second domain is Fury, which again, no description of what that is or what it does. They had opportunities during PoF and S4 to showcase this, but didn’t…

Same with Primordus receiving this feedback loop from Kralkatorrik… uhhh what sphere is that?

Fury. Kralkatorrik/the Branded's ability to harmonize with each other to make themselves more powerful. Which was a major plot point in S4 that they could do this, and the basis behind Kralk's weakness as well.

I’d love to believe much of that, but that’s fourth wall stuff. Relying on asset development time to indicate where we are going shouldn’t replace rock solid storytelling in the game to lead me there.

I wasn't relying on asset development time, you can completely remove that part and still reach the same conclusions. And 4th wall stuff is absolutely something one can, and should, use.

There is a reason why narrative meta-concepts like the "Heroes Journey/Monomyth" exist. Good writing follows patterns, and can be predicted so long as the author did the set up properly. Do note that begin able to be predicted isn't the same as being predictable.

To be honest I have no real idea, I’m not sure what I’m meant to be latching onto from an assortment of scattered bits. It feels like just an epilogue to EoD where we secure a new energy source before we move out of Cantha. More feels like a side story than an overarching arc.

I personally don't see us moving out of Cantha just yet.

Anet repeated themselves with both HoT/LWS3, and PoF/LWS4, in regards how they handled the living world seasons post expansion. The expansion focusing on a big threat(Mordremoth/Balthazar) and the LW season focusing on both a smaller local issue(White Mantle/Joko), and a larger issue(Primordus+Jormag Rising/Kralkatorrik).

EoD has seemingly set up a similar post story thing set up. EoD heavily hinted at both the Risen and the Purists, with the Purists trying to manipulate the Risen into attacking the city to wipe out the Empress's government and take control, and the Deep Sea Monster being more active around Cantha. I could see both being focuses of upcoming mini-expansions now that LW is gone.

What if the Deep Sea Monster is some horrible demon, now in control of the Oni? What if the monster in Raisu Palace is a demon that found a way to co-opt the Risen now that Zhaitan is dead? Both are obvious continuations of EoD and this current story.

We also have to consider that

    1. No one spends the time to create the large library of new assets they did for EoD, only to use them in that expansion, and then move somewhere else entirely. Like, If PoF came out like it did, and then Anet switch to a mini-expansion formula, I would 100% bet we would get mini-expansions to cover other parts of Elona because it would be a massive waste of dev time on the resource set of PoF to only use them for PoF.
    2. With the yearly mini-expansion format, and the general focus on less LW content in favor of more focus on other systems, balance, QOL, etc. Anet really doesn't have the time to make totally new asset sets for each mini-expansion. That would be doing far MORE work on LW than they did before, not less. I would expect to see more reuse, though obviously there would be new models/textures when needed, going forward.
    3. The vast majority of the remaining GW2 plots don't even logically take place otuside of established zones. So this idea we would be going to totally new locals each mini-expansion doesn't even really makes sense.

The thing is there are other corals seen in other places, even on the surface, and these aren't just corals - you also have trees that were sunk and coral grew on them then raised up to the surface again, for example. And the model is more distinctly undead coral so... even weirder.

Also not sure I'd ever really call sunken Orr as being deep sea - it was sunk to being islands, not completely and totally submerged. If the jagged towers of Orr can stick out of the sea, then it couldn't have been all that deeply sunk. We're talking meters, not leagues.

Except we see the coral grow as far as the very tops of these towers, and see it even at the summit of "The Arm of Abbadon", one of the tallest structures in Orr, showing that, at least some parts of Orr, did get entirely sunk to massive depths. The Arm of Abbadon even has a ship wreck on its very top. Either from a ship that sank over it, or a pirate ship that got stranded there when Zhaitan rose Orr.

Also, I don't see anything in the new map thats "undead" coral. The only thing close to what people consider "undead" are the little eyes/mouth things growing on some coral structures, but those are called out to be polyps back in Orr, not something of Zhaitan's corruption.

Find me a source for that, because the Deep area in GW2 roughly shares the same shape as the cave section of GW1's The Deep, and the GW1 was a specific location - where Kanaxai was imprisoned. And at no point do I ever recall it being "the entirety of the Jade Sea's deep sea space is called The Deep".

And this isn't "actually BELOW the Jade Sea" either - otherwise the sea was straight up hollow when it was liquid. Keep in mind, the Jade Sea was liquid 450 years before GW2, and Kanaxai was trapped by the Jade Wind in an undersea cave dubbed The Deep.

    Well

    A. I never said the entirety of the of the Jade Sea's deep sea is called the Deep. I never even mentioned the deep sea in the first place.

    B. It really doesn't look like Kanaxi's lair at all, or even share the same basic shape.

    C. If you want to get technical the Deep was never under Cavalon. Te entrance to the deep was at Cavalon, but it goes very far to the east from there to the point we can't actually say where it was.

    D. What I said was the deep is like the "depths" of Tyria, it can refer to any cave system under the Jade Sea

    E. Something I forgot to mention in my first post. There is nothing suggesting these Oni, or any of the other demons in this new map, are part of the nightmare horde, or any organized group. They're just demons wandering into Tyria at this point since Kanaxai, Dhuum, Abbadon, and seemingly Menzies, are all dead, and their larger organizations wiped away.

Finally, we’re happy to confirm that we’re working on the next story update for Guild Wars 2, including a new map set in the Cantha region. The story (and how we tell it) can go in so many interesting directions now that the Elder Dragon threat is addressed!

So yes, this was in development for a full year. And yes, they also had other things in development, including the first mini-expansion.

    • They call this the deep, but the place is completely incorrect, though the Deep area is very clearly modeled after the eastern half of The Deep - the Deep was connected to Cavalon, which is north of Dragon's End. The Deep in GW2 is, in fact, underneath Aurios Mines. Now this minor major retcon of completely shifting locations does make some sense, as in GW1 Kanaxai's presence was felt in Aurios Mines strongest outside of the Deep. But still, a bit weird to just move The Deep a third of the way across the Jade Sea. It'd be like swapping the locations of Raisu Palace and Nahpui Quarter just because...

The Deep is just a term referring to any underground space below the Jade Sea. Like actually BELOW the Jade Sea, not just "we dug slightly under the jade" the game never tries to imply this is 100% the exact same space we fought Kanaxi in GW1

38 minutes ago, Konig Des Todes.2086 said:
    • Tangentially related as minor retcon-ish: The big ley-line hub being called out as a special source of power for Cantha's energy crisis is weird, because EoD calls out the Harvest Temple as being above a ley-line hub. Why couldn't they use that one, which they knew about, and would have had access to all this time?

Because they don't have access to it. We can go under the jade around the Harvest Temple and see no ley-lines. Knowing that a ley-line hub exists there doesn't mean they can access it.

So yeah. Guild Wars2 has lost its high fantasy aspects. And I don't mean in killing its dragons and gods - there are still dragons out there, and other fantasy races. But GW2 is now closer to Shadowrun than it is to Lord of the Rings. Take that for what you will.

I was interested in the horror aspect Jormag was going for before it took a sudden turn out if that when they decided to scrap the icebrood saga and rush jormag and primordius to their deaths. And poor primordius. All the other elder dragons got an entire story to their namesake even if Jormag kinda got shafted on that. But this guy got slapped on at the end of someone else's story and killed off like a he was a henchman or something.

Except this didn't really happen at all.

Each of the five evil Elder Dragons got "teaser" content where we fight those Dragons' minions in a significant way, leading to a major champion fight, but where the story of those areas wasn't "this is the big fight against X dragon"

    1. Zhaitan had the southern part of Bloodtide, and Sparkfly Fen. Leading to its champion Tequatl.
    2. Jormag had the northern part of Wayfarer, the northeastern part of Snowden, and Frostgorge. Leading to its champion the Claw
    3. Kralk had the dragonbrand which ran through Fields of Ruins, Blazeridge, and Iron Marches. Leading to its champion the Shatterer
    4. Mordremoth got parts of Dry Top, and the Silverwastes map. Leading to its champion the Vinewrath
    5. Primordus had destroyers scattered all over. Metrica, Brisban, Kessix, Lornars, Timerline, and Mount Maelstrom. Leading to its champion the Megadestoryer

Then when it came time to fight those dragons each got 3 maps + a dragon fight

    1. Zhaitan had Straights of Devastation, Malchor's Leap, and Cursed Shore. Plus the dragon fight in Arah story mode
    2. Mordremoth had Verdint Brink, auric Basin, and Tangled Depths. Plus the dragon fight in Dragon's Stand
    3. Kralkatorrik had Vabbi, Jahai, and Thunderhead. Plus the dragon fight in Dragonfall.
    4. Soo-Won/The Void had Seitung, New Kaineng, and Echovald.Plus the dragon fight in Dragon's end.

Jormag and Primordus worked on the same pattern. The only difference was that their story was spread across two arcs(LWS3, and IBS) rather than one. And if you look at that well.

    1. Jormag got 3 maps. Bitterfrost, Bjora, and Drizzlewood
    2. Primordus got two maps. Ember Bay and Draconis Mons
    3. Both got a Dragonstorm final fight

The only thing that got cut was the Primordus focused map that was going to be in the Centaur Homelands. But the actual Primordus/Jormag story that was going to happen in that map got moved to the first two DRM sets. Primordus got most of his narrative stuff back in LWS3. With all the Asura investigations, his attack on Tarir to try to kill Aurene, the dragon lab at Rata Novus etc. And if you look LWS3 and IBS were built as parallels to each other

    1. LWS3 was a largely Human/Asura focused story, with Primordus taking a big role, about a rogue human god(Balthazar), stealing an Asura made weapon(Taimi's machine), in an attempt to use it against the Asura's major enemy dragon(Primordus)
    2. IBS was a largely Charr/Norn focused sotry, with Jormag taking a big role, about a rogue Charr Imperator(Bangar), stealing a Norn weapon(Braham's Bow), in an attempt to use it against the Norn's major enemy dragon(Jormag)

We know the original plan for IBS was that there was only going to be 4 more chapters, spread across two maps, and one more vision of the past release

    1. Chapters 5/6 in the Centaur Homelands covering Primordus' stirring, destroyers coming to the surface, Braham's destroyer sense stuff/confusion about role in prophecy/getting advice from Owl, Taimi's research into Destroyer's, Ryland/Jormag exploiting the Asura's hatred of Primordus to form an alliance with them ,get thier Primordus data, then betray them.(As we saw in Champions 1/2)
    2. Vision 2: Braham goes into the Volcano to become Primordus' champion(As we saw at the beginning of Champions 3)
    3. Chapter 7/8 We gather our allies the Charr, Norn, and Centaurs, and slog through Anvil Rock to bash the dragons to death.(rest of Champions 3+4 minus centaurs)

There was no substantive Primordus plot cut from IBS. Only thing that got cut was the Centaur plot.

We don't know it's been a year yet, as there is no guarantee that ArenaNet will continue the annual syncing. And by that argument the Commander got time off between HoT and S3, and between S4 and IBS, and between IBS and EoD. But while the calendar did move on in those cases, but the Commander makes it clear at the end of EoD that they hadn't had rest.

Well we know they did get a rest between IBS and EoD. Its part of the narrative that the Commander wasn't really doing anything for that like year except examining memories of past adventures to help Taimi and Gorrik examine the dragon cycle more. That and hanging out at the yearly festivals.

Though if the Void is somehow involved, it could be that Aurene's sending the Commander on an errand to investigate and calm the Void. I hope this isn't the case, however, because I've had enough of back-to-back world ending plots that we've had since Season 3. I prefer something of a smaller scale.

Anet has generally been pretty good about pairing up smaller stories that aren't end of the world stuff alongside, or inside, the larger story

    1. LWS3 had the White Mantle plot for the smaller scope threat, and the Primordus/Jormag plot for the larger threat
    2. LWS4 had the Joko plot for the smaller threat, Kralk for the larger threat.
    3. IBS had the Charr/Norn plots for the smaller issue, and the Jormag/Primordus stuff for the larger one

They've seemingly set up this same pattern with Cantha. The Risen/Purist plot being the smaller threat, and the Deep Sea Monster being the larger one.

Wasn't really clear from how your post was written and we don't know how much they'll be adding to end of dragons since it isn't a "mini" expansion.

We do know how much they'll be adding to EoD, they stated as much in the recent blog post. Its one new map, spread across two quarterly updates.

With the first of these mini-expansions supposedly coming out later this year, according to what Grouch hinted at in one of MightyTeapot's stream chats.

So it would be something like

    • Feb 28th, map section 1
    • May/June, map section 2
    • August/September Mini-Xpack 1.

And unless we get the first quarterly update for mini-xpack 1 in November, it will probably be Jan 2024 when we get the 1st update for that one. Since Anet doesn't tend to release new content in December.

They already announced two quarterly updates this year, both expanding on end of dragons. I think maybe you're overestimating how frequent the mini expacs are, or underestimating how much they add. The impression I get is mini expansion every year, then 2-3 quarterly updates. They haven't announced how frequent they will be yet but this seems the most realistic to me.

That's..... literally what I just said.

Yes, there is a big difference. Living season was free and a continuation of the expansion, not a new expansion.

Except LW wasn't free, as you had to buy the expansion associated with it in order to play it. And even then, it was only "free" if you logged it when it was the newest release. Anyone coming in later has to, you know, buy it.

Tell me how they are gonna sell you an expansion for 20/25 euros with western shin jea and old kaineng ? right after EoD. And then on top of that another expansion for 20/25 euros of Deep Sea Monster and Turtle Mountains.

Wheres the hype around that? How are they gonna sell it to the playerbase? like oh hey were 25 euros to go fight some random purist in shig jea you already know and have been around in the last expansion. Will not work. If they sell something new, a new location, then, thats different.

Well, lets take this argument to its logical conclusion shall we?

    • How will Anet sell us an expansion set in a desert if we already have PoF?
    • How will Anet sell us an expansion set anywhere like Asia if we already have EoD?
    • How will Anet sell us an expansion in a jungle if we have HoT?
    • How will Anet sell us an expansion set in mountains when we already have mountains all over the place?
    • How will Anet sell us an expansion in a grasslands region if we already have Ascalon?
    • Lets not forget about swamps, forests, hills, savannas, volcanic regions, and everything else GW2 already covers...

Ohh wait thats pretty much every environment you can think of. Ohh well guys, Anet better pack their bags and just close down GW2 right now. They have nowhere really "new" to sell us in an Xpack!

Yeah, most people don't guy Xpacks for some 100% new location. They buy it to get more content, and see new stories. Hell WP just recently did a video of obvious mini-xpack locations... and like half of them are places like

    • The Maguuma(to wrap up the Malyck plot)
    • Ascalon/Charr lands(to wrap up the remaining Charr/Ghosts of Ascalon plot)
    • The Far Shiverpeaks(to wrap up the Norn returning to their lands plot)

Most of the remaining GW2 stories are in places we've already been too, or are connected to places we've already been. They're absolutely going to sell us mini-xpacks around these areas, because there isn't much to do that ISN'T in these areas we've already been too.

Now will the Purist plot, and the Deep Sea Monster plot, absolutely be the next stories? Maybe not, but they've very obviously set these two stories up as future stories, and both are heavily connected to Cantha. Just as PoF set up the Joko and Kralk plots in Elona for more Elona content in LWS4, since PoF didn't cover all of Elona itself.

Yeah sure they are gonna sell you two more xpacs in cantha just after EoD, not happening, has 0 sense.

Just like it makes zero sense to do a living world season in Elona right after we got an xpack in Elona right?

If they do go this route: a possible map sequence could be: Quarterly updates: Jade Sea + Drowned Kaineng/Raisu Palace (Possibly also western Shing-Jea for a purist-based map) -> Miniexpac: Unending Ocean + Battle Isles.

There is one only map being added for the quarterly updates. This jade sea map, thats getting expanded upon in the quarterly udpate after that, and then we get the first mini-xpack.

So it would have to be something like

    1. EoD Quarterly update map: Jade Sea
    2. Mini X-pack 1: Purists -> Western Shing Jea, Drowned Kaineng
    3. Mini X-pack 1 quarterly update map: Kirin Peaks
    4. Mini X-pack 2: Deep Sea Monster -> Great Turtly highlands, Battle Isles
    5. Mini X-pack 2 quarterly update map : Ocean depths

Exactly because of that. For me, the more relatable thing to do would be going home for a while after such a long time. So I wonder what'll be the incentive to stay in/go to a faraway land and solve someone else's mess. I'm not saying the Commander should refuse to help, I'd just like them to do it for a reason other than "that's what heroes do" or "Taimi needs it".

It is also unclear whether we're in Cantha, considering the EoD epilogue took us to Divinity's Reach.

We did get time off. Its been nearly a year since EoD, so its been nearly a year in-game since EoD, by the time this new map drops.

I'm actually more curious about why should we (as in the Commander) care.

Why wouldn't the Commander care? We've spent the last decade of our lives, in in-game time, going around the world stopping threats to peace. Why would the commander stop now?

If we're in Cantha, and demons start pouring out of the Mists, why would we not go to stop them? If Purists try to sabotage the reuniting of the human nations why would we not stop them? If the Deep Sea Monster moved to attack why would we not help?

What surprises me is that you can see ley lines in the picture, I was left under the impressión we wouldn't see more of them as Aurene has absorbed all of the dragon magic, thus the magic level in Tyria should be around the same before the awakening of the elder dragons (I understood ley lines were invisible before dragons began to die).

As far as I am aware ley lines were never invisible before the dragons began to die, no one had found them because they tended to be underground.
