  1. The best thing about colours is that each colour looks different from all the other ones, excluding things like shades and gradients of course. Using dyes is a great way to enhance your gaming experience. Imagine running around in the desert and having dyed your mount in an amazing, unique style. Everyone will stop to admire your accomplishment and whisper you asking how did you do that. If you walk about town with your arm locked with a generic girlfriend, no one is going to ask "how did you get that?" But imagine! What if she's exceptionally hot, dyed with amazing colours? People are bound to wonder, how the hell is he with her? Many people agree with you that the desert border should never have made it past the sketchpad. Unfortunately it is part of our experience now, kind of like diverticula. My advice to you, friend, is that you make the best of it and use the dyes you have access to and have a happy life.
  2. Our beloved server, of which I have been a member for over nine years, is going through a difficult phase. Our benevolent overlords have decided that our population is too high for our friends on other servers to be allowed to join us and play with us. So powerful are we that we have to fight against four servers week after week, being relegated to endlessly suffering the tedium of enduring the red desert boredomland as our home border as punishment for not conquering our opponents and their overwhelming numbers. As much as we love and cherish our community and wish to maintain it in a healthy state for many years to come, sometimes it is difficult to do so. I know that Arenanet are doing the best they can with the resources they have to maintain this decrepit cornerstone game mode in spite of the dwindling numbers of human players roaming around in a listless fashion. So many of my brethren have moved on to games that are being actively supported by their publishers with updates and security fixes. Some of them have even reported being unable to use auxiliary applications to enhance their in-game experience in those games due to active enforcement of terms of service. It’s difficult to form a clear image in my mind of what that is like. I have a mount and I dyed it with various colours which I had acquired by buying them from the Black Lion Trading Company trading post. I like the way it’s always sunny in the inescapable desert border and the red mount with orange highlights reflect in the sunlight as I wander past derelict towers and the cron scripts that spawn next to them. There are various points of interest on the map that can be visited, and even vistas that one can unlock. I am so grateful that Arenanet still continues to sell gems and mount skins so that I can enhance my player versus player experience through customisation and personalisation. I like to use these tools to express my individuality and I hope others take advantage of these opportunities while we can. You must remember that life, in the end, is rather short, and time waits for no one. There is a lot of time, however, on the desert border for one to engage in deep thinking and self-reflection. Could we perhaps done something earlier on, to prevent our friends from leaving the game due to the lack of any semblance of class or population balancing? Is it not possible that one can derive some semblance of pleasure and even a sense of camaraderie from endlessly losing fights against brainless hordes of enemies? The human experience is to thrive the most when pushing against the realities and boundaries of existence, and overcoming the suffering with perseverance and faith. Could be that it is unreasonable to expect those who developed, operate, maintain, and direct the operation of these servers to come to our aid and provide the foundation of a meaningful gaming experience; perhaps it is up to us ourselves to create the content out of the unjust circumstances. It also not entirely fair to accuse the developers of hanging their hats on this mode when the fact is that even if they never let us mount them, at least they let us sniff the knickers on an annual basis by some sort of blog post or statement that reaffirms our faith in the continuing efforts to provide us with the features and functionality they promised so many years ago. I don’t think the sun ever truly sets in the desert borderland, it hangs low in the horizon like a rotting fruit. Apple slices somehow tend to get even sweeter when they dry a little bit. Perhaps when the day comes and the prophecy is filled and a commander once more walks upon our sandy moors, leading us into battle against equal numbers, we will see that all the suffering was worthwhile and the future is bright. All we need is faith. Take comfort in knowing that the game is full of players who share your desire for a balanced gameplay experience across the board. Everyone just wants to have a good time. Arenanet knows this. They have an exemplary record of producing high-quality content for various forms of media and technologies. To suggest that they are intentionally doing something to hurt Gandara is ludicrous. Trust me, they have no ill will towards you, my fellow Gandarans. I don’t know if this makes you feel any better, but I doubt they think about you at all. Buying gems and skins and trinkets and outfits and boosters are important ways to support the company in their ongoing effort to finish the arduous work on the alliance project. We all knew there would be sacrifices and that sometimes the realm versus realm mode might have to take a backseat to other, more important development projects. In good time, the new systems will be implemented and it will have been worth the wait. Take this time, Gandarans, for self-improvement and working towards your life goals. Spend time with your children and your friends. One day, when you reach retirement age, the alliance project will have been completed and you can once more brave the deserted border with your surviving friends and enjoy the sunlight warming their sullen faces.
  3. Doesn't need new maps, siege, rewards, mounts, or any other frivolous pizazz. Needs plugging up exploits and hacks, and class balance. No amount of new shiny will detract from the fact that the fighting itself has become a kitten experience.
  4. By changing the qualifiers for determining server population rating. The same number of players log on, but suddenly the game mode is full of life again. It's a miracle!
  5. Siege has to be refreshed for it to be alive. It has to remain alive for it to be worth building. Building siege requires blueprints which most pvers don't carry. Most people following a random tag are pvers who will leave as soon as they have their rewards.
  6. Peter Jackson's special anniversary director's extended edition thread. Must go deeper!
  7. You don't need leggy anything. You only need tanky aids gear for WvW. Dire is quite sufficient.
