  1. No they aren't. Keeping up with the rift groups from one to the other and not being able to use uplift as a returning player is what is boring. By the time we hobble over to it, it's completed and the next one appears across the universe.
  2. So...I ended up watching a story summary video on Living Seasons 1 and 2 and I'm caught up on what's going on there. I started HoT and I guess I'll just work my way up through there. It's not really what I wanted to do because I wanted to participate with the majority of the in-game SOTO crowd. But I have things I need to unlock to keep up with public rifts and stuff like that...plus whatever other gadgets I run across that I can't activate due to not having any mastery. Someone needs to write a good catch-up guide for lingering players that only have personal story and level 80. I don't even have my Epic Spec yet. No points to buy it.

  4. I am so happy to see this. Now I can play at work and probably get fired. Wheeeeeee!
  5. I'm just using that situation as an example but there's also the Jade Bot and other things that feels like you have to backtrack. Thank you.
  6. Ok, but give us a choice in Options whether we want to use DirectX11 or 12. Just implement both and let players choose. It's not that difficult. DirectX 12 is actually a low layer API.
  7. I am still stuck on my quest list until Rift Mastery levels and this is at the beginning after the intro. I can't level flying because I'm stuck on that. (shrug)
  8. So, basically, the Masteries required to do things in each individual expansion is found in the same expansion? Is that correct?

  10. Here's what I'm finding out: I'm a long time away and returning player that has completed the personal story part of the game. To be able to be in a populated environment, I've started my first expansion as Secrets of the Obscure. I have my temporary flying mount and the portal key. The next quest on my list says that I need to level up the portal Mastery. I'm sort of stuck at that until I can accomplish the goal. As I explore the areas up high using my new flying mount, I'm running into a lot of hidden chests and glowing green gadgets that require you to backtrack to previous expansions in order to get the Masteries. So, imagine you find a secret glowing chest and you try to open it. It says you have to have a Mastery in order to do so. How can I get that without stopping my progression in new expansion and backtracking to a previous expansion that I haven't even played yet? I feel stuck. This doesn't seem very New or Return Player friendly. I really don't mind going back to where I left off and follow the progression but I don't want to be in a bunch of dead zones with minimal activity. I started playing again because I was excited about the new expansion. How is this expansion new player friendly if you have to have Masteries that take forever to unlock just to open a chest up? I'll do the work but put it in this expansion.

  12. Hi. I am a returning middle-age player and would love to join you guys. I have a bit of catching up to do with a lot of the expansions but I'm jumping right into the new Obscure content and have started the quests and events. I'm sort of mid-casual but don't mind doing raids and things like that once I feel I can contribute. Played Everquest and WOW for years. Thank you.
  13. I am a returning player and would love to join you guys. I have a bit of catching up to do but I'm jumping right into the new Obscure content. I did have a question though. Right now I don't feel like I'm at a level to do MAD (your sister guild) content, but once I get up to that point, would I be able to join in their endgame groups? I'm sort of mid-casual but don't mind doing raids and things like that once I feel I can contribute. Is that ok? Do I belong with you guys or MAD?
  14. Actually, even though the base content of this game is NOW free to play, when the game was originally released we had to pay for it. Free content was added later with patches. When an expansion was released, we had to pay for it also. We just didn't have to pay a monthly fee to play. It was purchase once and play all you want. Now that the game has 10 years of accumulated content and expansions, your least expensive route as a new player is to just buy a bundle that includes all the main story expansions for $49.99
