  1. He's speaking for me, too. And probably for many others as well judging from the likes beneath his post. He has been granted permission to use WE.
  2. That's not how statistics work though. You don't need to ask EVERYONE to get data about the true value. It needs to be a representative sample population and big enough. You can safely assume that for GW2 Efficiency both requirements are met, therefore we can assume it's representative.
  3. Another thing is that GW2 has a very tedious learning curve and there are no tools or systems that make it any easier/more accessible. I've been playing PvP for a month and I'd say I get the basics of my class. But even playing my class extensively, except for a couple of skills I couldn't even tell what animation is what skill. Many animations are very dubious/unclear. For example Spectral Ring and Well of Darkness look almost the same. The Necro Staff skills are the same for all 4 Marks and Scepter + Dagger skills are generally just the Necro raising his hand. That is for a class I have been playing. If I want to learn the animations of a different class to better understand when to dodge/cc/burst etc. I can't just look up their skills and that's it. There are combo fields and passive effects from traits so just the text on the skills themselves doesn't tell much about its power. I have to create the class, pick a meta build, read everything thoroughly and play the class for at least a month to get the basics just so I can counter it on my main. That's a lot of work considering there are 9 classes in total. So after 9 month I'd be ably to somewhat distinguish what my enemy is doing and start adjusting my plays. That's a heck of an investment just to get the basics down. In comparison, for example in WoW you don't even need to see the animation sometimes just the sounds were so distinct you'd know exactly someone stealthed near you, a Cheap Shot/Kidney Shot or a Sap was used. You would see the hunter has used Bestial Wrath etc. and you didn't even need to play these classes to know. I like the complexity of GW2 combat system and the dynamics. However, the requirement that I need to play every single class to be able to read my surroundings is a bit too much to ask and there are 0 tools/systems that might help with it. It's even worse when paired with good players because I die in less than 2s in a 1vs1 and I don't even know why.
  4. As of now, queue times are extremely short. No matter the time of the day I'm getting a match within 2-4mins. The only reason why longer queue times would feel bad for me is the current restriction that for whatever reason you can't change maps during a queue. That seems very arbitrary is there a reason why it's handled like that?
  5. I have to disagree on some of the points. 1) I don't think a fix will be achieved by providing more incentives. PvP has already good rewards but the issue is it's inherently unfun to play, especially for new players. More carrots on the stick just encourages more afking/leeching 2) You can't put the main burden on the "veteran community". How is this kind of coordination of single individuals even to be achieved? It's impossible, unfeasible and unfair. The main issues have to be addressed by the developers: - good and fair matchmaking - stop smurf abuse - provide mechanisms/environments for easier learning of the vastly complicated combat mechanics of GW2 PvP (be it through better feedback, training grounds etc.)
  6. I don't know of a single PvP game with enabled chat where flaming and blaming doesn't happen. I couldn't give a duck about it, it's even something I expect to happen. If you are that hurt by stranger's words there's an in-game option to disable the 'team' chat. Done, now it's like HoTS/Hearthstone where you only see pings and target markings. I'm relatively new to GW2 (dormant for years) and PvP and I have to say GW2 has THE BEST community I have ever seen - ever. In PvE as well as in PvP I had people go out of their way, take their time and help me. Be it either by thoroughly explaining something or having PvP practice sessions where they show me combos, things to look out for etc. In the past 4 weeks I've made a couple of friends I play regularly with.
  7. The smurf account problem is not unique to GW2 and was a plague especially in MOBAs but it was addressed. If you want to create a smurf acc for Dota for example on the same PC with the same IP, you will land exactly in the same bracket. So it takes VPN + uninstall and thorough registry clean to be able to smurf from the same PC. And if you ever launch your main acc from the same system you are back at your rating again. But even if you want to to circumvent all of that, then the flexibility of the system in the early stages of accounts or during ladder reset will take the unrealistic high win rates + personal performance and push the hidden/actual MMR at MUCH faster paces meaning only within 10-20 games the acc will land exactly where it belongs. On the topic of queue times, a possible solutions would be to funnel PvP activity into certain time windows. For example there could be PvP events every day from 20-22 o'clock or every weekend from 10-22. Bonuses could be provided e.g. 15% more PvP track/league reward track received to provide incentives for players to do the majority of their PvP matches during these time frames. These are just some possible solutions and there are plenty others available. My point is that it needs to be addressed in the near future otherwise it's a lose/lose for everybody and PvP will eventually die.
  8. Just played a game where a Necro was flying around the map. Was impossible to kill him because he was glitching up and down untargetable or out of reach
  9. I personally wouldn't mind waiting longer if it means playing with people on similar level and being able to actually learn something. As of right now, this kind of algorithm just worsens the problem as anyone who tries to pick-up GW2 PvP immediately gets more than enough incentives to quit. And from the various PvP games I've played I have yet to see a single game where a complete newcomer would ever be matched with Legends - ever. It doesn't happen for good reason and I couldn't grasp why it's even possible in GW2. GW2 is not the only game facing the issue of queue times and small population, solutions are available but seeing that this kind of problem apparently remained for 2 years now suggests a general neglect.
  10. GW2 has a horrendous matchmaking system. It seems that in unranked there's no limitation who you can get matched with. The very entry mode of PvP, the mode where you are supposed to be able to test builds and where people would start their PvP journey is a complete kitten show. You have everything from Bronze to Legends and the experience is disheartening to say the least. There's 0 opportunity to even pick up basics with a disco show around you. In ranked it's barely any better. Anything from 1 division higher or lower is possible and around Gold/Platinum these are HUGE skill gaps. There's no point in talking about class balance when the very fundamentals of any competitive game i.e. a proper matchmaking aren't even present in GW2.
