  1. Agreed, but also a really stupid take on a site about a particular video game. Every single thing communicated here is a first world problem or subject.
  2. A lot of weapons have multiple attack "phases" (for lack of a better word) for the #1 weapon skill. For example, Axe has Core Cleave, Bleeding Edge, and Searing Slash. Staff has Bolt of Wrath, Searing Light, and Seeking Judgement. Having these three phases in one skill mixes up the attack animation and makes things a bit less repetitive. Guardian scepter only has one phase, Orb of Wrath, and the attack animation is really fast. So attacking something is like this: Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!FWOOSH!FWOOSH!! And then you attack your next target: Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!FWOOSH!FWOOSH!! It's just unpleasant. You can mix it up with weapon skills #2 and #3, but they're on cooldowns, so you're right back to: Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!Fwoosh!FWOOSH!FWOOSH!! I'd like to use scepter but I don't know if I can listen to that sound pummeling my ears.
  3. I'm working on Quietus for my Harbinger and one of the components is a Harbinger's Trinket, which I guess you get from murdering Purists in Seitung Province. But, I haven't found any Purists there - just Aetherblades. Is there a good farm spot for Purists in Seitung? Or do they only come out for events or something?
  4. This was a semi-serious post about a guy with a pumpkin head, asking silly questions about silly lore, in the Lore section. Please go outside and touch some grass.
  5. Flavor text would work in lieu of something better, I guess. I'm mainly just overthinking stupid crap today for fun. You should see what I just posted about the Mad King. That said, I often do find video game storytelling to rely a bit too much on headcannon. For example, my Commander is a member of the Order of Whispers. Or is she, still? I assume she is, but when I venture into the Order of Whispers camp in Maguuma, none of my fellow Order acknowledge me as a member, even though by this point I'd presumably be the most famous member. "Oh, hey, it's the member of our Order who has been directly responsible for the death of multiple elder dragons and a human god, and who is revered across the world as a protector of the innocent, has returned from death, and is the champion of Aurene. What's up, how's it been hanging?" So the fact that my Commander is a member of the Order of Whispers pretty much exists only in my head at this point. The game doesn't acknowledge it at all. I know it's work for Anet to do some of these suggestions, but that's, like, their job. It's what they do for a living, as professionals and stuff.
  6. My Commander, in addition to her other duties, in an "Emissary of the Mad King." She also seems to have a rather friendly relationship with the guy, and even seems to take orders from him to some extent. She sometimes rides on mounts provided by the Lunatic Court even when it isn't Halloween, and occasionally the Mad King's disembodied head follows her around, laughing. She has weapons forged by the Lunatic Court. This Halloween she worked with Brigadier General Kernal just to keep the Mad King appeased about Joko, and this seemed to be a pressing concern for her even though she still hadn't fully dealt with the whole situation in Cantha. How did this all come about? Did my Commander secretly join the Lunatic Court as a young woman before starting on her dragon-killing adventures and becoming Commander of the Pact? Or, in 1325, when the Mad King attacked Lion's Arch, after she ventured into the Mad Realm to defeat him did my Commander decide she actually dug the guy and joined the Lunatic Court in secret? Isn't Mad King Thorn a sadistic murderer and a psychopath? My Commander seems like a very moral sort, so what's her attraction to such an evil being? Admittedly she's a Necromancer, but necro's don't appear to be automatically creepy or evil in this world. They're just kind of a thing. Trahearne was a necro, and so is Marjorie. Some of the Halloween achievements are labeled "Court Duty," which suggests that my Commander is a member of the Mad King's royal (Lunatic) court. This is what Wikipedia has to say about royal courts: My Commander is a human Krytan noble. If she's a member of the Mad King's royal court, which she appears to be, is this treason against the Krytan throne? Or doesn't it count, since King Thorn was also a Krtyan king, and thus my allegiance as a human Krytan will naturally flow to him as well as Queen Jenna? How many other dead Krytan royals are out there that my Commander may owe fealty to? I'm assuming that, as a living human Commander, she's part of the Mad King's "itinerant court" and is only able to provide direct service to him around Halloween, when he's able to interact directly with the living world. Or is my Commander sneaking into the Mad Realm behind the scenes at other times of year? Does she get to ride Mr. Gum Drops whenever she's there? We really need to overthink all of this.
  7. This is probably a thought more relevant for GW3, but... I have the Astral Scholar outfit and cloak for my Necro. And then I was thinking, why is she dressed this way? Is my Necro actually a scholar of astrological events? When did this happen? There's no mention of it in her background. To my knowledge there's no "Astral University" where she can go and hobnob with colleagues where they might say "Oh hi Saoirse Mourne (my Necro's name), how have you been? You've been away fighting dragons and saving the world for a while, huh? How's that been going? Oh, I have some thoughts on your latest research paper. Which you wrote, because you are an Astral Scholar, which is a thing that exists in the world we live in." Maybe there are other Astral Scholars running around? Is it a Cantha thing? I tried looking it up but didn't see any mention of it. This might be a silly observation, but in addition to a game about jumping puzzles GW2 is also a story - the story of the Commander. So outfits that the Commander wears are story details that should inform something about character. Like, what if Indiana Jones, halfway through Last Crusade, just started appearing in scenes wearing a clown outfit? As a viewer engaged in the story, you might ask, "so wait, is Indiana Jones also a professional clown in his spare time? How come I never knew that before? Why has no one mentioned it before now?" SO I was thinking? What if future (GW3 probably) outfits were actually "character packages?" In addition to the outfit itself, maybe you also got a title unlock, access to a specific location (like an "Astral University," an an update to your character's bio. Just a thought.
  8. During the Fallout mission (EOD), I highly recommend you try the Chef's Special. It makes the rest of the scene quite amusing.
  9. Harbinger Shroud's CC is not a second health bar, but it stacks Blight: heals and barrier. So you can treat it as an emergency shroud, but I haven't needed it as such. I also use(d) Ritualist with my Thief. Didn't make that much of a difference because of all the other challenges that Thief has to overcome.
  10. Hey, my mounts are willing and highly compensated Team Members who have applied in advance using Monster.com (because they are monsters) and have gone a lengthy interview and drug testing process. I offer such competitive benefits as full healthcare and a 401K, plus two weeks of PTO. My mount engagement surveys consistently rank 4 out of five in all categories.
  11. Me: "Hey, these Skritt are actually pretty nice when you get to know them. And they are allies in the fight against the Elder Dragons. Plus, they're kinda cute! I think I'll help them in various group events." Also me: *murders hundreds of Skritt in cold blood, wiping entire communities off the map*
  12. The writing doesn't bother me. GW2 is set in a fantasy world; in this particular world, people talk like this. It's no more "fake" than fantasy characters who sound like "Forsooth! I verily desire to besmooch thee, fair maiden!"
  13. My main is a human necro with the noble background. Yet no one refers to her as "Lady," nor does she seem to know many nobles at all, except maybe for Farren. The story description is that she "grew up among the nobility." With the new maid outfit that was released, it occurs to me - was she the help?? Was my Commander a maid this whole time? This is all very disturbing.
  14. Hey, it didn't come with shoulder pads that would make it impossible to go through a door, or clusters of crystals, or spikes where you would end up stabbing yourself in the face. It's pretty restrained!
