The clean solution is change those movement speed bonuses on runes into an actual stat or some other % bonus.

That does not address the side that enjoys having +25% movement speed from runes, and interesting relic ontop of it. Which is what I enjoy as an option as per beginning statement you were responding to.

I stated that I enjoy the options current setup gives, but can understand OP stance as well, but don't see much of a way to "cleanly" satisfy both people with mindset of the OP and people of my mindset. And your response to that, is that clean solution is to shaft people like me 🙂

It gets mentioned in the Waylit Beacon collection. It's easily missed dialogue, though, and it's presented as hearsay from characters who probably don't really understand how the process works for Lhyr or Glint.

oh, makes sense, I didn't do that collection yet so that's why I didn't see it yet.

I think Lhyr's splitting power is compared to Glint's facets in-game... but just because an NPC makes the connection doesn't mean it's accurate.

The only connection I saw in-game was the name -split variants of Lyhr are called Facets, and Glint has facets, I did not found yet any in-game dialogue trying to express the connection between Lhyr's facets and Glint's facets.

Pretty sure you can't downgrade pouch, so if you want to get things for pinches and NOT for pouches, then the pouch has not value. So incorrect 😅

I mean if you don't ever intend to do for anything that uses pouches, then yeah I guess, but then for all the other uses of pinches, I get more than enough of them from everything else 😉

true, but my thread was an odd place to merge a comprehensive list of all the things that didn't work for the other poster. Everyone else was talking specifically about either disability access, or about how the lack of choices in the daily affects them. (Lack of choices in the daily is the disability access issue that I wanted to flag up in this thread. Of course there are others accessibility issues such as those mentioned here and here .)

Merging is done by forum moderation, and I am unsure if talking about it within threads like that is allowed within forum rules 😕

I don't think we've ever had new boons or conditions as part of an expansion

Alacrity arrived with HoT with chronomancer (and was chronomancer exclusive for a fair bit) I am not sure if superspeed was also not added with scrapper in same expac.

And what's your point here, maybe get used to such low standards?

His point there, is that if the list of the OP is "proper standards" then no expac in GW2 history have met them, and therefore he should be equally disappointed with everything since HoT.

Legendaries have better stats than exotics, that isn't an opinion it's a fact. That was the topic his quote was in reference to.

The quote he answered to specifically stated ascended and legendaries having stronger stats than exotics, with legendaries being much more expensive to craft than Ascended due to flexibility the free stat swapping on demand provides.

And before Ascended gear was introduced, legendaries had exact identical (fixed) stats to exotics (which was highest tier of gear at the time).

Ergo, at no point in this game history legendaries being "stronger in stats" was an incentive to go for legendary over cheaper highest tier equipment.

and I mentioned nothing about opinions, so I am unsure why you bring them up here.

People tend to follow where the biggest rewards are in terms of gold acquisition. Soto maps have very little rewards. I think it's like... 7 chests at the end of Amnytas that each grant 1 or 2 pieces of blue or green unidentified gear. There is the meta progress chests but again, it's not really much and it only starts when the Kryptis actually invade. The map currency doesn't really give much more than minis so... Lastly people tend to want to gravitate more to maps that also have events going all the time which progresses the meta, such as Silverwastes, Verdant Brink, Auric Basin, Dragonstand, Dragonfall, Drizzlewood, etc. Those 2 things I think are the driving factors.

You are omitting here legendary armor mats that are so far only available from soto metas 😉 (and their map currencies).

Also on a side note verdant brink, and auric basin no longer "have events all the time which progresses the meta" - daytime VB and pylons AB were decoupled from their metas couple years ago.

  9. I will just toss this - in hopes that if devs read this thread they can have more narrow search for the crux of the issue - I am playing on rather not a very good laptop, (Ryzen 5, vega 8, 8GB ram) and with all settings set to low (with exception of character models quality/number - have both of these set to medium because on low it would make 5man instanced content... awkward), and I am not seeing any performance drops on new maps compared to the previous ones.

Which heavilly implies that the source of the problem is enabled by the higher graphical settings 🤔

  10. On one hand, I am enjoying my ability to slot rune of traveler onto my celestial gear, and rolling with nice relic, on another hand I can understand someone wanting more specialized stats and still having +25% movement speed with it.... 🤔

But if there is +25% movement speed relic it would make no sense for any rune to have it, which leads into a situation where I personally cannot see any clean solution to have both variants justified (barring maybe getting more + running speed rune sets to provide more specialized variants?)

This thread is specifically about the new design making barriers for people with disabilities (not ADA compliant) due to the reduction of choices from 3/12 to 3/3 or 3/4.

Other complaints are definitely valid (and I have those other complaints too), but there are lots of other threads to put them on. For example

    [snip]

and i probably didn't even get them all.

Just FYI: everything from skyler.4986's post onward was it's own separate thread that was merged into yours 😕

But, man, I remember when the forums EXPLODED with how much people hated HoT because it's a HUGE jump in skill level between Core/LWS1/LWS2. Hek, I hated it early on because I wasn't skilled enough at GW2 at the time nor did I have a gearset/build that played nicely with HoT's difficulty. Newer players STILL complain about the jump in difficulty.

Yeah it were a wild times - even tho personally I did not hate it and I actually enjoyed strolling through HoT on my half-trained druid (that for first couple days was halftrained because it costed 400 hero points - got instantly fully trained on the day the patch reducing the cost rolled in). I do have alot of fond memories of that time.

That being said I would still hesitate from calling this particular period as "best time of GW2" nor I am not going to pretend that it was universally well received when it launched - it had alot of hype, but that hype train crashed hard as soon as all the meta berserks started getting stomped in the jungle 🙂

Apparently not. The quality of their update went down drastically after the layoffs. If only the people from different project got fired, it doesn't explain why their subsequent updates and expansions feel very hollow compared to PoF and HoT

To be perfectly honest those layoff happened so long time ago that I am unsure why you brought them up in the first place. And that is not even taking into the consideration that according to AN communication, they took up alot of employees following PoF success, and the (forced by NCSoft) layoffs have nuked the studio to basically pre-pof size.

Doesn't change the fact that just before they happened those... two? three? years ago does not invalidate the fact, that GW2 bloomed after they got rid of Colin following HoT troubled launch.

Its the overall that matters and ESOs can dump more money on you in a given month than you can earn unless you are farming hard for a week and still have to get lucky on being able to sell to other players to actually earn the money

That is factually incorrect. There are rarely months that have decent amount of gold in them, but it is nothing compared to what I was able to do casually without grinding and with no "luck" on sales involved.

Same with BDO, at least one great payout a week.

Not from the login rewards. And family fame system is still pennies compared to what you can actively earn.

I was expecting someone to try to go more obscure with a DDO or Neverwinter

I assumed that Neverwinter dids the same thing as STO does - so not login rewards at all

    47 minutes ago, wolonggong.3469 said:

The point is simple. GW2 went from log in and get a reward to now having to work for the reward and thus all MMOs now instantly have a better login reward system.

And that "simple" point is also factually incorrect. Not only you can still log in and get rewards in GW2 (albeit less in monthly totals thatn before if all you do is only logins) you have a full control over what you are getting. And getting your limited inventory overloaded with useless items or premium store baits, is not "instantly better" than no login reward system at all.

    50 minutes ago, wolonggong.3469 said:

The daily/weekly's are now worse than what we had.

Arguable - more rigid to be sure, but much more rewarding.

    51 minutes ago, wolonggong.3469 said:

Do them, get the reward to do them and try to get enough currency for something

And within a week and a half, of not even doing all the dailies (or weeklies while at it) I was already able to amass more gold and valuable items that I could ever get under the previous system of login rewards and dailies.

    52 minutes ago, wolonggong.3469 said:

and the improved payouts are locked behind the new xpac this

There are some rewards in the store that are locked, and a handfull of one time per season tasks that not only do not amount to that much of acclaim in the big picture, but also are all tasks invovling expac activities, so even if it was not locked, it would be impossibe to do regardless.

Oh and from the rewards I did claim so far myself the only ones requiring the expac, are gloves skin and heavy crafting bags - everything else - so grand majority of "worth" I have got out of that system so far - is available to everyone.

    56 minutes ago, wolonggong.3469 said:

this a 100% decrease in terms of quality system for anyone that does not have the expansion with, as its clear to see, many that do have the expansion still not liking it.

I am quite confident that you do not have statistically significant data sample to support the "many" not liking it. I would not be surprised if all the evidence to that was you looking at these forums, and maybe reddit - which is very biased sample, because most of the time people come in here (or to reddit) to complain about things, not praise them.

If by any miniscule chance you actually did confer proper research with statistically relevant sample size among players not owning expansion, feel free to share the papers.
