  1. I must admit that there were another thing which served as a huge disappointment: Chapter 9 was one of the greatest wasted potentials in the history of story writing.
  2. I wish I could agree with you. But having played through it, I find that they've left a loose end, of so significant dimensions that it's made everything that followed after it, an absolute anguish to play through. :anguished: Through out all of PoF, I hoped for an explanation. I hoped they would elaborate on this, because it makes no sense that they would do this. At least, not in accordance to the established lore. But it never came, and so, It's become very hard for me to replay PoF... It's a great story... It just lacks that one essential element that binds it all together... The worst part is, they had the chance to deliver it... They just didn't ever mention it... It is as though they had completely forgotten who Balthazar was... And I find that very, very sad... Considering not many of the gw1 vets seem to be left you might not be far from the truth about them not knowing who Balthazar was. That is, sadly, very true. Though I must add that much of the new content is very, very good... I just can't play it with my HoT enthusiasm... (I played through hot more than 30 times, incl full exploration! xD) You're quite wrong on them not explaining why Balthazar went rogue(he didn't lost his mind, he had an agenda to destroy the Elder Dragons and save humanity, the other Gods didn't think it would work since they "lost" once before and banished him, etc., etc.,) they did a nice job of it.As it is evident that you're referring to the Kormirs tale, that explains NOTHING about Balthazars complete and utter personality change. It does not explain why he's unwilling to negotiate with potential allies and it does not tell us why he's willing to sacrifice Tyria to kill the elder dragons. It does not tell us why he's carelessly sacrificing innocent people for his army, and it doesn't inform us why he's turned from Good to Evil. NOTHING he does in this story, is in accordance with the personality they established him to have, in previous lore.So no, they did not do a nice job, at all, at explaining why Balthazar changed so drastically. I mean, it would have been far better if they had killed Balthazar off and had Menzies (the mad) take his place. That would've made far better sense to the story... EDIT: All Kormir is telling us, is what we already knew: He's gone mad and we don't know why and we wont help you. (The "we wont help you" we already knew, because that was the information that the five gave us, in gw1, when we were about to kill Abaddon). Why did balthazar change his mind? In Abaddon's case, he was perfectly fine standing back and doing nothing, telling humanity that we were on our own. What's going on here, makes NO sense at all.

  4. Instead of racial skills, I'd love racial animations.Asura Engineer: Use Asura tech. Charr engineer: Use Char tech. Sylvari Engieer: use sulvari tech. Etc.Golemancy you say? Asuran Necromancer. Let it's undeads be Golems. Alternatively, I'd love for them to completely eliminate all racial skills and make racially themed elite specs, available to all races. We have already established in gw1 that humans can use the skills of both norn, asura and dwarfs. There is no reason why there should be racially limited skills, when we already know that humans can "become the bear" etc...
  5. The first time they released it, there was talk about it being made for "jumping puzzle" practice. I still believe that is true, but who really knows?

  7. I honestly dislike the very thought of Orcs as playable races. To be honest, I would be angry if they introduced them as a playable race. I wouldn't mind much if they made them a side note, as are the other lesser races, in the game. While I can see no use for that, the lore of the game would allow it, as for instance a relation to Ogers. But introducing them as a playable race, before introducing them as a lesser race, I find absolutely appalling. Before Orcs, I would like to see: Largos, Tengu, Skritt, Kodan, Quagan, and many other races, as playable. Shouldn't you say "Germanic-based"?Because that's where elves and dwarves come from. And the word may Orc derive from the Ork in the Austran folklore. The behaviour of classic (non-WoW derived) Orcs as brutish uncivilized races also resemble the Japanese Oni and the Norse Jötun (which as a GW2 race also have a spiritual aspect like WoW-Orcs have). Emm, not really? The word "elf" may come from Norse and Germanic Mythology, but the elves you see there are NOTHING like what you see in the fantasy genre. The fantasy elves are much more like the Norse Vanir, the celtic druids. The elves in Mythology is deadly monsters that will take your soul away. They are more comparable with what the fantasy genre know as Fay Folk. The idea about a "good" elf? that belongs to Tolkien.Your idea about the Jötunn is so completely off that I would almost say that you've seen too much Marvel. Jötunn is basically anything that lives in Jötunnheim, with any amount of intelligence. They come in all different shapes, forms and characteristics, from giants, to pixies. They might be as grotesque as we imagine trolls or enchantingly beautiful. I must also note that the concept "troll" is just another word for Jötunn. It is so with most mythology, that there is no "Fixed" truths about any races or creatures in them. The majority of monsters in mythology are unique, until they're adopted by fantasy and altered to become a specific race.I would dare the claim that there are no fantasy creatures that aren't inspired by some kind of mythology, be it Germanic folklore, Norse Mythology, Greek mythology, Jewish folklore, Islamic folklore or one of the many other sources. I would also dare the claim, that there are no fantasy races, which are playable, that aren't significantly altered from it's mythological counterpart. There are exceptions, but they're not mainstream. How so? ??? How are orcs anthropomorphic? The definition of the word is having human characteristics. The definition I pulled up was bears so if we take dictionaries to be true we are talking the basics: 4 appendages, a head, a body, stuff like that. Orcs MORE than meet those qualifications!"Anthropomorphic", is anything with any amount of human traits. A "talking stone", a "bloodthirsty sword", a "mushroom so burdened by sorrow that it cries", or a spider with a human face, the personification of death (The grim reaper) - these are anthropomorphic. The word you're describing here, is "Humanoid" - "Resembling a Human".
  8. I've been thinking many times of the games and how things could improve. I've thought of how they could add changes to maps and locations, without removing the chance to view the old ones and I've thought many times of what could be done to improve difficulty in the game. This is one thought that I've had for a short while. I figured I'd post it here: Difficulty modesDifficulty modes should be available for any level 80 characters. AdventurerThis game mode is the current game mode. Character scale to the enemy level and everything is easy to beat. Dragon slayerIn this game mode, as you can only access it when you're level 80, all enemies should scale up to level 80. In addition, enemies should band together in groups forming little squads of 5+ mobs, scaling up as would events. These mob squads should actively try to take you down, with a strategically thinking AI, that have both the option to have healers and to revive fallen mob squad members. Loot should not drop from these mob squads, until you've killed them all. These mob squads should reward you as though they were events, but as most enemies on the map should be mob squads, they shouldn't actually be events. All enemies not part of a mob squad should be either elite enemies in smaller groups or champions. All members of a mob squad should be veterans or elites. All enemy encounters should be challenging and hard to beat. The enemies should drop equipment in accordance with the area, and disregard the players level. Things that are not salvageable, should take the players level into account Dark SpiritThis mode should really bump things up to speed. It should have the same mob-squads as the dragon slayer mode, but It should introduce a few new concepts:Enemy Commanders, a unit rallying enemies of it's own kind to it or outright spawning such enemies. This commander should have an AI, affecting all the units it control, so that it can take all it's units into consideration when deploying them in a tactical order. All it's units should be able to make dodge rolls and revive each other. The Enemy Commanders AI should have machine learning, to keep it up to speed with players evolving skills.Scout Parties Scouts Parties should consist of up 5 mounted elites. These mobs should try to avoid conflict at all cost. Their function should be to search for players and report back to the commanders. Once a player have been found that player should attract a squad of a size that have a fair chance of killing him, even if he is a player of substantial skill.Enemy Architects Enemy Architects should be able to construct towers, forts, walls, barracks, armory, stables and possibly other buildings, at locations designated to them by an Enemy Commander. These forts should be impregnable without wvw siege equipment. The buildings should serve different purposes: If the enemy squad have a barracks, the commander should be able spawn new recruits. If they have stables, mounts should be available to them, if they have an armory, their equipment should improve, and so on and so forth. Enemies should gather resources to construct these buildings over time or by killing players. No Way points In this game mode, all way points should be disabled. When a player revives, it should happen at one designated revival point on each map. These revival points should be safe from enemies.Gear Analysis When a players gear break in this game mode, the enemy who broke it, should gain a copy of the broken gear. Story ModesEach Story mode should be available to the player, upon reaching a certain step in the story line. Hero ModeThe world should look exactly like it did, before scarlet's war. All maps added during living world and expansions should be unavailable in this game mode. The WarIn this game mode, season one of the story should be replaceable, as it was when season one was first released. AwakeningIn this game mode, The world should change progressively, with the activation of story steps. Modern DayThis game mode should have the world look exactly like it does today.
  9. Have you ever heard of the term "Privacy"? ARC DPS and programs like it, is toxic. Not for any of the reasons you mentioned, It's fine that high end players kick low end players if they don't want them there. It's fine that they advertise for elite parties and that they kick people who do not live up to that standard. But invading peoples private space, is not okay. I urge you to consider how it feels for players who are here to play a game, to have their performance IN A GAME, measured, as though it was some kind of job.The toxicity of these kinds of software, is making people back away from the game, because we're here to have fun, not to work.Maybe it's time for the High end elitist's to accept that this is a game, you're supposed to play it, not work it. Even if you do work it, you cannot by any means demand the right to invade other peoples private space, doing so is not okay. you damage IS NOT private. invalid argument, sry. My gear, my inventory, what food I chose to eat, how well I perform that day due to whatever reason, yes, it is private. thats not my opinion, thats a FACT. no use for arguing about it.they can not see you inventory.everyone (!) can see your food. So you say, yet they do. maybe not the specific 3rd party in question. I have not embarked into the world of 3rd party programs because I'm not interested in them. All I know, is that I've seen my gear linked in chat, without me linking it. And that's not okay. And yes everyone can see my food after I've chosen to use it.EDIT: But whether I chose to use food or not, is My problem. If you don't like it, kick me. But don't nag at me. nobody can link your gear in chat.maybe, but this is ARC DPS discussion, not random hack that maybe exists discussion. This. Please keep these things separate. It is NOT allowed currently to use tools which allow visibility of this kind of information. Arc does not provide this type of information. Any tool which is currently allowed by Arenanet will not provide this information. I still think it's invasive, I still think all third party software should be banned. But If I am talking about the wrong software in the wrong thread, then I apologize.I will not comment further in here, if that is the case. Oh with that kind of invasive software (there was a damage meter in the past which was this invasive. is was discontinued and is not allowed currently), rest assured a lot of people would have issues, myself included. But yes, this is only about damage meters and the information those provide.Thank you for seeing my point ^^' even though I wrote it in the wrong place xDI honestly thought that Was the damage meter, though...
  10. I honestly don't care whether they use it or not. If they comment on my stats of any kind without asking me about it, I block them. Whether it's an old friend or a pug, i don't honestly care. My old friends know me well enough to know not to use it with me, because I've been very passionate about telling them how much I dislike it.

  13. Exactly, and arcdps helps keep 2 different approaches to the game separate without resorting to unjustified bias against classes, builds, gear or if the moon is in the correct spot at this time of day. No, it help you nagging. nothing more. Yes, and now imagine how it feels for people who have to make up for lacking performance of 1 or more players. I love how people always assume it's a minor difference. Often the difference is night and day. As in a very experienced player will do 20k damage, a decent player will do 12k damage and an incompetent player will not even break 5k damage (for damage dealers respectively). You don't need a 3rd party tool, to see any of this. Then make your own group and don't demand other people to carry you. Join a guild, there is a ton of casual guilds around. See how long people will be willing to take you along when you bring 0 performance to the table. I don't need to make a group to do a dungeon... I don't care for raids. My point was not for me, my point, was that It's toxic. Whether you like it or not. Except that none of the games data or resources are yours. Read the Terms of Service, it all belongs to Arenanet, every last bit. I get where you are coming from though, you don't want other people to know about you. Simple solution: The games data, sure, but this isn't violating the games data. it's violating the players choices and right to keep those private. Don't join groups. When you join a group you are effectively entering a group contract (similar to a social contract) with the other players present. You are volunteering to upholed your job in turn for all the others to uphold theirs. That's how society works by the way. It's how any type of group structure works with different requirements by individuals. To then turn around and scream unfair treatment because you can't uphold your part of the deal is insincere. EDIT: nice side fact, players have 0 ability to read other players performance when not grouped. That is by design and intent. There used to be other dps meters in the past which would read the memory and circumvent this. Arenanet made very clear that you are only allowed to read your groups performance.I don't join groups any more... They simply got too toxic... The friendly and cheery spirit of the game dwindled, and with the birth of the DPS meters and other intrusive software, it got worse... These days I rarely play the game at all, partially because of things like this...
