On the LFG in game there is actually a guild recruitment section. It is near the bottom of the LFG category list. Some guilds use that periodically. There is also a forum thread here for guild recruitment and also a gw2 guild recruitment reddit. You can find both of those with a quick google search.

You did nothing wrong most likely. My guess is they had a friend they wanted to get in and instead of doing the proper thing and forming their own party while outside the instance with the uncontested wp map, they took your instance and just vote kicked you. There is no technical party leader in the party mode (5 players) even if you started the party and did all that. This is not so in a raid squad with a tag. It was pretty awful of them to not at least kick you before you entered the dungeon. That way you could have at least still been on the uncontested wp map.

Many dungeons can be solo'd by experienced players (with a few mechanical exceptions like CoF path 1 and the braziers for example). They do not need a nerf. What they need is a revival, but that won't happen unfortunately. Since the content is basically dead, not many older players bother with them unless they need the currency for something and new players are expected to look up a guide or basically be carried because no one wants to take the time to properly explain dead content. My suggestion if you have an aversion to youtube guides is to find a nice guild who still runs them and have them teach you.
