  1. Thank you. A reward for your feedback: Please, please add "Luke" into the game with that voice line somewhere. I love him so much already! Brightened my DAY!Speaking with the Dev team now ;-P
  2. 100 percent not accurate. All these videos were made specifically for GW2 with the specific intention of bringing new players into our vibrant community.
  3. I talk to you guys because you're legitimately awesome. The excitement I feel from the community makes it so fun to share stuff early with all of you. :-)
  4. In all honesty, not if they are like that. This is not meant as disrespect to your work, but that trailer does not show GW2. It does not show what it is about, why people should play it or reflect pretty much anything about the game at all beyond over the top flashing coloured weapons. It's just a generic fantasy video with no meaning or context. If I saw that video as a non-player it wouldn't make me think I should investigate further. By all means make more videos, but make them relevant to the game Ever seen a League of Legends ad or cinematic? This is pretty much industry standard. Just show off something cool related to the game, not the game itself necessarily. Basically any mobile ad too lul I've seen them and ignored them. My twitter feed often gets such things to show me. If I see something that shows me bland, generic cgi footage, I don't investigate further. To me it shows that a company isn't confident enough in its product to show off their actual game or they lack the imagination to make something really creative that does reflect their game. I know Anet can produce better for this target audience because they made this; Now I normally wouldn't go for a full CGI trailer, but if they insist on that route , this at least communicates a snapshot of story and clearly is trying to bring out some of the flavour of the game. It would at least warrant me looking into it further. At the end of the day, if Anet want to put out basic, generic cgi trailers that are "industry standard", that's up them. I just think they're better than thatI love the standard you hold us to. We will release a plethora of assets to engage many different audiences. CG won't work on you and I am glad you are already a strong part of our community. Hopefully we engage some new players into our community.
  5. While considerable portion of the gaming community dislikes CG trailers and are in favor of gameplay footage, I don't think it's the case for the more casual audience. CG grabs the eye of that "outside" audience more effectively which is why it is mainly used in mainstream media promos (like tv ads). Personally, I'm fine with it (and this one specifically) as long as the campaign includes other promo material that has gameplay or in-engine scenes. Some of the most successful game trailers of all time have been purely CG after all. You get it :-) A reward for your brilliance:
  6. I like the first video; but I may be biased, enjoying playing GW2 as I do. And, yes, I'd love to see the other videos.Edit: Not that fond of the 'Black Citadel' video. Hard to understand the audio, and it seems to be a joke? Not sure non-players will understand... This page: https://welcome.guildwars2.com/en/play-guild-wars-2You might check the typo(s) before mass release. (Mega-battlesand) A reward for your feedback:
  7. I respect your POV. Hopefully the target audience, which is people who are not currently familiar with GW2 will find this enticing enough to give it a go. :-)
  8. Ok. Lets' play it safe first. I'm showing you a tourism ad. What do you think?
  9. Hi everyone. I am so glad you found this. It is a brand new CG piece made for our marketing blitz for the next few months. There are quite a few new videos and ads that will be going live. I hope you all enjoy them or at least can appreciate the intention of growing the GW2 community. Would you like to see the other videos? AnetHoGM CantStopWontStop
  10. Thank you for this. It is very helpful. The above quote in particular is so spot on and something I am stressing internally so we can get trailers right and spark the emotion and excitement. :-)
  11. I am the Head of Global "lol" Marketing. My intention was not to be religious but happy to educate. To evangelize is another way of saying "spread the word" as in market a product. Sorry you read into this. Looking forward to the memes. Sorry you didn't understand. Come back in February to learn more. Noted. Only looking for constructive feedback. If you do not want to participate in these sort of discussions I understand. Luckily the majority of participants were constructive with there positive and negative feedback, for which I am surely grateful. :-)
  12. Thank you for the kind words. This is very appreciated. :-)
  13. So much has been said and I thank you because your passion shines through in a big way. I also appreciate the time it takes to put pen to paper to this level. First I will say that a lot of what you touched on does not fall into my purview but rather with dev so I can't control much there but my controllable in these areas is to email your comment to the dev team, which will happen after I write this response. As for marketing for GW2 I see so much value in the lifelong connections fostered in game and I want to highlight this human aspect of what GW2 brings. The fostering of human connections around the globe. I can't go into too much detail but the ArenaNet marketing team has something amazing in store that I hope will celebrate these human relationships. More to come this February. I also want to make sure ArenaNet is providing our loyal fans with the tools they need to evangelize the game. We are five years strong with the most amazing and passionate community. I want the GW2 players to be proud evangelists and my promise is to provide you with high quality marketing that will aide in showing your friends why GW2 is a game they should be playing. It will take time to get everything created and I ask for continued patience and support over the following months and years but it WILL happen.
  14. I like it. We are going to look into logistics but I think it's a very solid idea.
  15. That's right! How dare you point out the competition to us. JK of course. ;-) I'm sorry I didn't respond to your previous comment but I had read it as well as this latest comment. I had responded to some of the other comments that were similar but you may have missed. The WoW trailer is an exceptional example of what to do right in educating players on content. You are 100% right and I promise you and the rest of the community that this feedback is a big topic of meetings we are having this week for future videos. We need to do a better job of detailing content and not be as precious as we have been about not spoiling content. We've allowed this fear to take over and to your point what does it matter if our players are not playing because they do not realize the robust nature of the content released. Changes are coming and we are taking this feedback seriously. We just ask for patience and continued constructive feedback as we drop more marketing assets. I want the feedback and intend to live up to the expectations of the community.
  16. Thank you for this. I've been overwhelmed in the best way possible over the responses received from the community. Mostly constructive and passionate feedback. I plan on doing this a lot as we begin to put all of the community feedback into action items, not just on this video, but for the next few years of our marketing. Keep it coming. The ArenaNet Marketing Team is reading every word and appreciates the constructive feedback. :-)
  17. Wow...and I mean that. I read this a few times. Your comments are not only constructive but passionate but they have really engaged my thought process. As you said I have a controllable which is the marketing of the product so I will steer my attentions their but boiling down your sentiment within this thoughtful feedback is ArenaNet needs to refresh our creative efforts and infuse our passion. I can tell you the passions is still here at ArenaNet but we need to make sure the public sees this. We need to show how GW2 is better and worth playing. This accolade video will not be the magic bullet, but rather 1 small piece of a much larger strategic marketing campaign planned to rollout over the next few years and a lot of what we plan to do moving forward is coming from feedback such as this. We will have moments of amazing with some missteps along the way but it will take time. ArenaNet is going to show off GW2 with extreme passion and get the marketing right thanks to you and the communities support!
  18. Thank you. My hope is that more communication will start within our official forums first and foremost above all other forms of communication. I did read your constructive feedback and understand the time and effort you, as well as all players, have provided. I read everything and appreciate the work you have all put into this. :-)
