  1. I made a post on this topic as well. Anet doesn't want to fix it. Community doesn't want their portals touched. Cheating will continue.
  2. I hope this post reaches someone in Anet. It's not a good sign how this has been ignored going by historical posts on the topic. I aim to highlight this issue in a way that has it actually addressed. This is not intended to be a rant post for my own catharsis. It needs to be addressed, and it can be done cost-effectively. The Problem Cheating has been a problem in WvW for a long time. This topic has been covered over the years numerous times, but the problem has not even been remotely addressed. There is no easy fix for hackers and there's no perfect system that prevents players from clipping through walls and taking round about methods to glitch into keeps that are closed. However, this does not prevent reasonable adjustments being made to limit the damage it does to player morale and engagement. When there are guilds who frequently use mesmers who glitch or no-clip there way into keeps to portal in their squads. When even 1 stray thief can stealth indefinitely inside a keep only to effectively 'reset' their squads failed capture. When the map groans in chat when they hear "thief/mesmer in keep", knowing they'll be stuck either playing cat and mouse, looking like Tom against the proverbial Jerry, or essentially surrendering their defending point if they leave. This is a problem. It does not need to be a problem. Players quit WvW over this. No one wants to play against cheaters that won't be punished. There is a solution. Proposed Solution A few lines of code, and immediately the damage done by bad actors drops by orders of magnitude. No dev time needs to be spent in on pruning map geometry. No anti-cheat needs to be used to stop third party programs. There will be less need to report players who do cheat, since it won't be nearly as destructive. The player-base can go back to fighting over points instead of skipping past it all. Jaded players who left WvW might even be heartened to come back. Personal Experiences Community Experiences Counter Arguments This section is to preemptively address key objections. Past forum posts of interest. These posts don't reflect my views but they highlight the ecosystem at play here. Thank you for reading this far. If I could ask those inclined to write about your experiences in the comments and how it's affected the quality of WvW for you.
  3. One way or another, bots everywhere.🤖 https://ibb.co/Wc71920
  4. I've yet to meet someone who says the mounts aren't beautiful. However the acquisition implementation is cynical, manipulative and artless. I know these descriptors don't thaw the hearts of marketing departments, so I'll put it in terms that address your interests. Your company has spent over a decade trying to construct a particular image for your brand, a fun loving developer that unlike its contemporaries does not treat its customers like livestock. This image has served your financial interests immeasurably, it allows gem store customers to not regret nor scorn purchasing the delights you proffer them. They're happy to support you. This descent into gambling madness does nothing to enhance the mount skin experience for the end-user, it only obstructs an item from their immediate consumption. Your users know this, they are not blind. The only conclusion they can reach is that greed has possessed the company hierarchy. This threatens to self-destruct the premise of your gemstore. Now the end-user equates your company to that of every other loot-box copycat that has sprouted in the last year. This can only negatively consequence your long term fiscal stability. Users are less likely to remain enthusiastic consumers and will search for the door. Don't let unethical marketing trends poison your blood. You're not built for it.
  5. I would argue the opposite case. This latest stunt reveals how pathetic the BL chest skin hoarding was in the first place.
  6. They'll call it "Quantum Cinema". Come to think of it, this is all about the breakdown of determinism. We don't get to choose what we get, the superposition resolves without our control. What a horrible thought.
  7. That does not even remotely address the point. What you seem to be defending is the idea purchasable content itself, which I have no objections to.
  8. How bloody dare you stoop to this level. Here you craft a lovingly made mount system, poised yourself to monetize it with skins.... AND THEN YOU ADD LOOT-BOX GAMBLING. Here we have it folks, leading-from-behind after over a year of loot box controversies, of companies preying upon innate human behavioral weaknesses, and here enters the next cloying MANIPULATIVE contender. It's not enough for you is it?! Not enough to allow players to support your company enthusiastically by purchasing what they want, now you have to hide your wares behind carnival traps and dice rolls. Simpering and cowardly practices that ensure that players spend far more for a product than that in a more ethical environment How dare you seek to exploit the hundreds of gamers under your roof, especially those with preexisting addictions. How dare you stoop to Catch 'Em All with your Arena Net.How dare you slice and dice your own game to squirt more from your players. Your company has poured uncountable hours and funds into its public relations. Tending the garden of your reputation to create an ethos of good will. Here lies the husk of the forbidden fruit, and yeth there will be weeds. Congratulations Arena Net. Hope the angling business fares well.
