  1. A fair point, except there are more relaxing things to do in game or better "play for fun" games around. I accept now that the monthly tournament is a calculated risk.
  2. Because I (and 4 other people) spent a long time forming a group and playing through the tournament matches? It feels cheesy that the best way to get rewards from tournaments is to join them at off times. I've earned 10, 15+g at times from random, all-welcome tournaments at off-hours. Fun fact, tournaments cap out at 100 teams in them. Are you saying only 32% of the teams deserve a reward compensatory of their time-investment? I am aware that the number of teams maybe have been closer to 50, but I digress. Like I said, maybe toss me 10 measly gold? It's not even just the time-waste and all, it's that we had to get 100 qualifying points just to get in the door, too.> You already earned more than 10 gold for getting those 100 qualifying points. The monthly is supposed to be more competitive. I don't understand why you think you're entitled to a reward in a performance-based tournament just because you invested time into it. Use it as a learning experience to do better the next time. Now that you've seen the level of play at the higher end, I'd consider it a win rather than a waste of time. Regardless, if you don't think it was worth it, and your only motivation for doing the tournament was gold rather than to get better, then I'd say don't do the MAT again if you're this discouraged and discontent. Besides, there are already people that multibox ATs to get free gold. Giving them more free gold just by AFKing the monthly and losing every match wouldn't be very smart. But anyways, that's just my opinion. I don't think people who lose every round, multibox, etc. should win anything. So there should be a minimum win threshold or placement to get rewarded. Forgot about the multiboxing issue. Ok taking more time to consider it, you're right. Now I wish they'd warn and then ban pure afking in tournaments. Not rage quitting or afking when you're losing, but true afking. I think I'll keep playing and getting better and MAYBE try tournaments again if I ever become a stable, platinum player AND find a platinum+ group. You just have to realize that time is precious and if someone feels like they've wasted 2+ hours, it feels bad. I'd rather help someone, do an achieve, or do something productive irl lol. I 100% get where you're coming from. It's the same reason I'd rather keep quing ranked instead of doing the daily AT with a random group of people I don't know if I'm not confident we will at least make it to the semifinals. But I choose not to do it in that case because I know the gold for anything less than that won't be worth the time and effort in advance (imo). If you ever have any questions or want advice to help you get into plat, feel free to send me your discord tag in dms.Sounds good. I've managed to get second place in a tournament before, so perhaps I have some potential in there somewhere.

  4. I'd like to add that I'm just having fun here. Even so, it is still annoying that I could have made more gold doing pretty much anything else in the game.
  5. While your insightful analysis has moved me to the brink of confused tears, I fear I must offer a counter-argument. GW2 is not just for hardcore gamers. I admit that PVP and especially the monthly tournament should be about winning and if you are not good, you should lose and not receive the most glorious rewards. Yet still, how, pray tell, doth us "filthy casuals", or even mid-core gamers, stand to benefit from such an arrangement. Hell, I would even take a "cash out" option that let's you skip the monthly tournament and hands you 5G. I, as well as other real-world dwellers, have spent a fair amount of money to play and enjoy this game. PVP monthly tournaments could be a fun way to test our skills and earn a tough but fair recompense for our endeavors. It is merely a letdown to experience the lowly depths of defeat, without so much as a pity prize to dry our tears.

  7. *Disclaimer, I love this game and only want to see great things from it. It is one of the three best MMORPGs available, in my personal opinion. I am but an average PVP player giving my opinion and that of my party today. TLDR at bottom. Today I did Kormir's Clash for the first and last time. I started seriously LFG 2 hours in advance, and made sure my team was qualified (but no skill/league requirements.) I am not yet good enough to do plat+ parties. Guess what happened (as I was warned)? We lost every game, but one. So we are thinking, what, maybe 25G consolation, for at least not losing all? Of course not, we end up getting 1 mystic coin and a large potion of PvP reward. Now I understand why casual and non-pro players don't bother with monthly or even gasp do afk monthly. Why would I want to waste my time playing against mostly very good players, losing, and not getting rewarded for it? GW2 prides itself on a few key things. It is what I love about the game. 1. Level 80 was and is the level cap and your gear never becomes worthless. 2. The game is a sand-park style MMO, which rewards you for doing all sorts of things, including tons of side achievements for rewards that you can work towards over time. TLDR: At the very minimum, make the reward for Kormir's Clash be 10 or 20G. Please also note that in no way am I suggesting that losers should be rewarded anywhere near as well and I am NOT suggesting making the good rewards and titles easier to get. If you disagree, I'd love to hear your thoughts, but really, who could disagree with at least a tiny boost in rewards for a 12-times-a-year tournament?
  8. LFG for monthly tournament. Is there a better place to look for a group besides in game and in your guilds?Anyone interested please let me know so we can group in advance. Starts in 2 hours and you have to have 100 qualifying points to join.
  9. I definitely agree that it is unfair that someone with an account full of 9 level 80 characters is unable to get the level 10 achievement. I wonder if Anet is low-key just trying to bother some people into spending more $ on another character slot?
  10. I hope it is alright to ask this here. I am currently attempting 30 points in HOM in GW1. I am wondering if anyone is interested in helping out in any capacity. Please reply here or message me if you are!
