  1. Wow, the GW2-forum manages to turn a discussion about timezones into one which is the most OP ... :pThe reason I asked is because the question "on which server do I find the most people playing when I usually play" comes up from time to time. And while wvstats provides some useful data on that (haven't found an alternative yet), the abbreviations used in the chart designating a specific timezone's primetime were not explained on the site.
  2. Thanks guys!In case other European players are interested - these are the approximate* times in Central European Time (UTC+1) according to this thread:Abbr.:Primetime for:CET:NA ETNorth-America Eastcoast & Baruch01:00-04:00NA PTNorth-America Westcoast06:00-09:00OCXOceanic (Australia & Co.)10:00-14:00SEASoutheast Asia15:00-19:00EUEurope20:00-23:00*not sure about DSTs and some prime-times seem to have different lengths, but you'll get the picture...
  3. Hi,I often read about the WvW-primetime-timezones: EST, PST, OCX, SEA and EU. These seem to be NA-identifiers and are not widely used in the EU where I play. Since https://wvwstats.com/timezones can also give an activity-comparison for EU-Servers with these designations, I'd love to know: What are the exact times for these four primetime-timezones? Thanks!
  4. Q: Will recruitment for a designated WvW-guild be disabled when it's alliance's player cap is reached? One extreme example of exploiting the system: Create 4 small designated WvW guilds, the system allows them to form one alliance (because they fall well below the 500 alliance cap). After that, start binge-recruiting members in each of the guilds. With a guild cap of 500 people you could end up with 2000 players (so nearly a whole server by your metrics) in these guilds and thus in their alliance, well above the normal limit.Needless to say, that would give this inflated alliance organizational advantages to more smaller and heterogeneous groups. It would also make it harder for you to balance out MUs because smaller chunks of player-groups is what you want after all.
  5. For the German servers the problem is: Anet stated that they won't link national to international servers under any circumstances. And without closing or adding a tier in the EU other pairings are simply not possible without unlinking the servers which are even weaker population-wise than Elona. That is why e.g. Riverside and Kodash (not sure about Elona) never got a link so far. Imho the label 'full' (at least fo EU-servers) is not a fixed number but simply a method of preventing migration, which Anet fears would distort the 'balance' in each tier they aim at. There is a big difference between say a Riverside-'full', a Kodash-'full' and an Elona-'full'. Look at Baruch, which is Tier #1 atm with it's heavy population at night, but isn't full for being the sole spanish-speaking server. Like probably Anet, I also fear some salt incoming in mapchat when national and international linking would be possible: 'We don't want to play with shitty nationals' / 'We don't want having to use English in mapchat'... At least on Kodash though, we always had good experiences with the few English guilds (TA for example) which visited the server for a couple of weeks back in the days. This is 2017 after all, we still have a unified EU (well some of us have - goodbye and godspeed Brits) and nearly everyone speaks English to a certain degree. Most German players i know are missing the pre-linking times: Bandwaggoners could join the respective fotm-server, people that stayed on their silver or bronze-tier servers prefered the slower pace and the cosy 'home-sense' there, and switching servers was not a big of a problem because only few went full (and rightfully so). Well, all we can do now is wait and see if the next expansion swirls things up a bit.
