  1. I haven't played in a while, but I feel like giving it a go again. I was looking for a class/elite spec suggestion for playing support. I figure it'll give me time to look at the other classes/specs that are doing damage and get an idea for what looks appealing to me if I want to go down the damage route. I'm guessing Guardian is the class, but any particular elite spec especially since there's new ones with the latest xpac? Since I'm getting back into it and never really spent tons of time in spvp, I figured supporting my team would initially be more valuable while I re-learn things and the other classes. Furthermore, regarding builds, are there any particular sites that anyone would recommend as decent starting points? My goal would be to take a decent build, and then adjust it after a while based on my personal needs/play style, but I just need something to kick start me. Thanks!
  2. This doesn't help you, sadly, and that sucks. But generally in MMOs chat is on a totally different server, so you can sometimes have one up/performing well while the other is the opposite. Maybe you can run around the field yelling at people to demoralize them until they fix things? Edit: You could also try to connect using a VPN, if you have access to one, to see if it's actually the server itself or the route your ISP is making you take to get to their servers. You can also try a trace route to the server to see if there's any issues along the way. I *think* you can just type /ip to get the ip address of the server you're connected to. If not, you can type "resource monitor" into windows start, click the "Network" tab at the top, wait a few seconds and select the GW2 process, then under "Network Activity" it'll list all the servers GW2 is connected to. Then open a command prompt (type "cmd" from the start menu) and type "tracert xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" where xxx is the IP. If the 2nd through 4th columns show a high value (it's in milliseconds) at any of the hops, that means there's an issue at that specific location in your route to the server. A * means packet loss, bad sign.
  3. Came here looking to see if this was a bug or if I misunderstood something: yup, it does seem to sometimes not trigger. No idea why. I'm just playing core guardian in case it matters. Edit: I think the comment about it being due to non-xp giving mobs is right. I just came back to the game after a several year hiatus and have just been doing story/living world missions. When I'm in these, I notice that killing a mob won't reset the virtue. But if I'm in a non-instance like doing stuff in the regular world, it resets upon killing a mob (and said mob grants me XP).
  4. Just did it a 4th time. Finally worked. The 2 sister's didn't repeat their dialogue and the quest progression updated to inform me to speak to Jantzen who now has a green star over his head.
  5. I just finished the fight with the golem. I've got checkmarks beside "Defend the Seraph workers..." and "Veteran Experimental Mark 1 Golem". Marjory and her sister just had the conversation about joining together. What's odd is they then repeated that same conversation shortly after. Nothing is happening. It's been 10 minutes that I've ran around the instance. I talked to Corp. Jantzen about the inquest FOB, but nothing triggers. There's no new objective updates. No green star icons anywhere. This is the 3rd time I've done this place (haven't done it on this character before). In the screenshot you can see the chat that triggered twice in the chat pane. You can also see no objectives on my minimap or updates to the quest in the upper right. I've also got the initial convo with Janzten up on screen (I've talked to Jantzen 4x now). There's still vines covering the portal, which you can also see. Edit: There's no one else to talk to besides Janzten, who, again, doesn't have any symbol over his head. We just talk about the Inquest FOB. screenshot
  6. Oh I didn't know that. That's cool that you don't lose any progress. Not applicable in my case but cool nonetheless.
  7. I have a character that had an overlapping profession that I never bothered to level with one that was fully leveled on another character. This character had let's say professions A and B, with B being the overlapping and non leveled profession that I decided to drop. Since you can't just unlearn a profession, I replaced it with another, C. For the past few days, on the character selection screen, this character shows as knowing 3 professions: A, C and the old B as well. My account does not have the ability to have more than the standard 2 professions learned per character, I never purchased that from the store. Also when I log in to that character and view my crafting professions, it shows correctly that I only know A and C now. Anyway, it's not a big deal as it's just a super minor text bug on the char selection screen but figured I'd mention it. Here is what it looks like
  8. Wow, this is a wildly unexpected performance boost for me. I'm getting like 90fps at 4k with all settings maxed (except supersampling) in player dense areas and my monitor's max of 120 pretty much anywhere else. Overall it has evened out my framerate so that gameplay always feels smooth. I am on a beefy machine (amd 5950x running all cores min at 4.5ghz and single/dual at 5ghz, 3090rtx aorus x-treme) and had thought I'd get that just from the base game alone. I didn't realize it was still using dx9, so I guess that makes sense. Thanks for your work on this, it's crazy the performance improvement I got. Just 1 minor thing to point out: on your github main page it has a link to using PSO precompile but that takes you to a page with no details on it (pso precompile).
  9. Well good to know that it can work, and that you were able to do it inside the green circle. Maybe you have to get lucky and be in the right instance. Will keep trying in the green circle area. Edit: logged in again and as soon as I appeared, 3 loyalists spawned and attacked me. After killing them (another player happened to join in as well) some more spawned (maybe like 4?) with crossed swords over their heads a few meters away. After killing them my quest state advanced. I wasn't paying too much attention so I don't know if it was that first chunk of 3 or the later chunk with crossed swords that did it, I was too excited that I could continue playing.
  10. I saw someone smash open the cave and I was able to go inside. It's just a small thing that lets you pass to the other side. Also I wouldn't know how to get a beetle since the only step of the 3 sub steps in the Guns, Germs, and Steal quest I have to complete is this one: Stop Joko's Other Loyalists.
  11. Same with me. I was trying this for an hour last night and it looked like about a half dozen others were in a similar situation. All of us kept killing them and not progressing the story. Tried relogging as well as quitting but nothing changed.
