Also, no, you rarely see a "spear" in modern warfare. Might have something to do with our ancestors really being a rarity on today's battlefields. 😄

yeah, but I am not the one argueing from that perspective. Magic did not work that well on historical battlefields either, if that is of any concern here...

Please don't feel the need to apologize for not being a native speaker.

Everyone in our community has different opinions and ways to play the game.

Not being born in an English speaking county should never be a case for judging or intollerance.

You are most welcome here and so are any spelling errors that may occure 🙂

if you think of yourself as being classy or something similiar, you are wrong.

It's only a punch in the gut if you don't look at the big picture. The big picture is this game is a non-pay to win game without a subscription or optional subscription.

Pretty much six months of any other AAA MMO will get you what you get for Guild Wars 2 including the expansion that's not out yet. I don't see how that's a punch in the gut.

And some of that stuff you'll be getting free this week and in upcoming weeks. Now look at it from a player who's been here all along.

I've never paid a penny for a living world episode ever. I get them for free by logging into the game when they're active. There isn't a more generous MMORPG out there, period.  Sure it seems bad when you're looking at it from the details but when you look  at the big picture it's actually pretty generous.

the big picture is irrelavant to a single customer though.

Not seen a battle fought using "Focus"? Have anyone? Thought I seen people carrying flags to battlefield.

Anyway the notion of sea spear is very under used. Why don't Anet just allow sea and land spear be used on land and sea.
It is the same spear, and make more sense if is used more. Also I think people likes big piece weapon as its visible. Then say compared to small daggers.

If sea land spear can be shared in sea and on land, Anet part just has to design fight sequence, combos, and make sure effects is nice. That all.

you think the spear is already in game and it just needs to be "allowed" on land, just like that? You are not exactly "computer savy" are you?

Also, no, you rarely see a "focus" in modern warfare. Might have something to do with mages really being a rarity on today´s battlefields.

This statement is incredibly out of touch.  You are working off an extremely flawed premise and probably should interact with the community more.

But yes, ascended armor should probably salvage into something more interesting. I expect it in the expansion.

Regardless, this is a 1st world problem of 1st world problems, and we just have to recognize that.

that "first world problem" argument is utter BS. So nothing ever should be improved in the west? "But children are starving in Africa!" - so we are not going to change things in games? Yeah, right...

  7. This is just so wonderful. You got the guy doing nothing but name dropping, believing himself a "critical thinker" while sticking to the very antithesis of criticial thinking, good ol' Manuel, the neo-platonic shaman of accept-what-the-collective-tells-you-ism while maskerading as one the enlightenment dudes, and also doing nothing but using argumentum ad verecundiam. Then of cause you have the post-whateverism and intersectionality crowd jumping in, "but but but old dead white guy, eurocentricism, something something racism" mixed with a grain of body positive "if you look with the heart, not the eye, everyone is beautiful and divine". Pretty entertaining. Please more of such threads.

PS: Yeah, OP is right, a noticeable proportion of the Tyria' s saviours is a complete clown fiesta.

I played this this briefly when it launched and decided to try it again a couple weeks ago.

I can't believe how good this game really is now that I have given it an honest try and it's left me really surprised.

I heard on a video I was watching that it's number 8 of most played MMOs right now.  That seems crazy to me.

So what is it that keeps this game so low on the list?  That is if it really is #8....

Also is there confirmation on a guild wars 3 in development?

number 8 of ALL played MMOs, if that is correct, that is certainly not crazy low. Quite the opposite.

At the same time, the kind of interactions you can have there are also a reason why EVE Online is definitely not a game for most people. Lot of stories i hear from there, stories that EVE fans bring up as a sign of how their game is great, are things that make me run as fast as possible in the opposite direction. Because those are kinds of interaction i would never, ever want anywhere near me.

It is a game very you have to accept real loss as a possible outcome. That is certainly very different from most games on the market. Also the reason why people form real interest groups. Not better, not worse, just a different design philosophy.

I pay for access to HoT and I'm delivered a CD Key. If I lose my CD key and I contact support - am I entitled to a new CD Key?

    Yes?

Then I own the product. I paid for HoT, Anet delivered me a CD Key in exchange for my money. Are you saying I don't own the CD I paid for that is in my possession?

If I lost my CD Key and contacted support with my name and date of birth, they would re-issue me that CD key, would they not? Or would they just tell me "Sorry, you don't own anything from that transaction. You have no right to the "service" you paid for. Good day!"

you will understand the day the game shuts down and you madly click in your desktop shortcut.

And just to make things clear about my point of view is. I got all masteries from Heart of Thorns by playing the game. The key to unlock those masteries was playing the game, the maps of that region and its events. In Path of fire, since griffon, unlock masteries and mounts has become a job.

You have to actually compromise your time and log into the game to work on it if you ever want it unlocked. You can't just log in, have fun in the game doing events and get it unlocked. You have to go from location to location to unlock collecting stuff to unlock something useful to explore the maps and play events well. When I try to follow comanders using my griffon and they all using their skyscale I stay far behind, I can't keep up with them. So I end up not having fun.

When it is just a few things that you can take a day or 2 and do them, it is great. But you have to put a lot of time and effort into it. It stopped being fun for me who doesn't have that  much free time to spare anymore. I want to log in, have fun and eventually get my rewards, mounts, unlocked, by having fun. I can't log into gw2 to have a second job trying to unlock skyscale. I only wanna relax and maybe, make new friends. My opinion, no one has to agree.

It is really pointless to explain this to us, remember, none of us has a job or a life outside of this game.

The issue I have with this meta is that it is preventing players from playing what they like playing and is forcing them to play something else based on what a livestreamer said or some popular player said.

    Or what maths says...

I now know what the acronym meta means and due it this, I dont like the whole concept of it.

    meta is not an acronym.

  13. @"Nero DarkSlayer.9206" said:Yeah, the news was posted beforehand, but for the third time. The news published on the 16th. The item was only available on the 16th. And there just so happens to be a global health pandemic going on right now. The government told me I wasn't allowed to work a year ago. I've been sitting here, wasting away in my house for an entire year. I'm sorry if I don't even know what day it is anymore.

And yeah, I know it was my fault for missing the window. I admitted such (albeit briefly) in my initial post. My whole argument is that the window was unreasonably short when compared with how infrequently it goes on sale (24 hours available in a span of THREE YEARS is utterly ridiculous). and that there shouldn't even BE a window because of how psychologically demanding, manipulative and unethical it is to host immoral market models such as exclusive 'flash sales' in the first place. Sure, it is the company's legal right to do so, but it still blows my mind when people defend and endorse this kind of predatory practice. Sometimes seemingly for the sheer sake of gleaning some smug-satisfaction from posturing over someone else's misfortune. I get that impression more in the steam forums than here, but still. My point stands. I'm advocating for a freer, more open and consumer-friendly gemstore for everyone -you included-, so why on earth are you against me here?

because while most people would agree it is a stupid business model (and working in a related field, I still have to see some reliable proof of this model performing better than e.g. offering digital items the whole year around and stimulating interest with an actual limited sale of those), you making this about a grande crusade regarding morals and business ethics and "woe is me" is rather off-putting. But one has to be lenient here, I think the general life situation you describe is straining for all of us mentally. So in essence, yes, the business practice is BS, but hardly justifies moral outrage. Or maybe it does, still, you cannot expect everyone to share your particular values.

  14. @Ferin Delanore.2674 said:I agree that the bird like sounds were nice, but do you think they match the Physique of a 7ft tall avian humanoid shooting a bow at enemies and then chirping with an asuran voice? It is just an observation. What comes to mind are the Great Eagles from lord of the rings who rescue Gandalf. If they had voices they wouldn't sound like a high pitch bird in the first place.Maybe It is just me not being able to see the Face-Voice match yet. Maybe you are right and they are perfect as they are. I am just imagining them being playable and having that voice last for years, so I thought a discussion on what people would enjoy seeing would be fun to try.

@Inculpatus cedo.9234 said:Although the voices were a bit surprising to me, I'm guessing the high pitch is due to the way 'talking' (in real life) birds sound.Seems appropriate to me.

have you ever heard Brock Lesnar speaking :P

  15. @Joote.4081 said:It all started to go wrong with the destroy the cannons mission. It wasn't that it was hard it was down to everything respawning the minute you killed them. Your suppose to pick up the explosives to destroy the cannon. To much like hard work as every time you threw one a npc would respawn in it's path. I think they had tried to do this instance inside the normal game (not a instance). Result was a broken mess.Right of the main camp mission doesn't tell you who the sentry's are, confusion. This instance looks to be made for 3, you and your 2 companions. When they stop working or disappear completely you are on your own against bosses and continually respawning enemy. Not so much hard but given the enemy has the ability to keep knocking you down while sniping from afar, pretty s***.They need to fix stuff they already in place before moving forward with expansions. All this broken stuff is building up and will get to the point the game will lose it's credibility.Look at the thread ' Visual clutter' a problem that's been around forever but never addressed.I'm slowly coming to terms with HOTs but this POF, well....

Strange how a company can put out stuff of extremely high quality such as the raptor mount, but then throw out really bad slap-dash stuff.

not sure what you are doing here (and basically the whole thread). So you define everything you struggle with as not being part of actual difficulty, so things are not too hard for you but... I don´t know what. I think this is intellectually unsound.
