  1. Hello everyone, Just a quick question about the forthcoming Wizard's Vault refresh.. Does anyone know whether any points we have remaining will be carried over or whether these will be lost when the refresh happens?
  2. It seems to me that there have been a number of changes to the game, intended to benefit Steam players. Levelling is so much faster now (and I don't think this is a good thing) and things are generally easier. Does Anet believe that Steam players have no patience and are lazy? That they don't want to work for anything and that they want everything for free and they want it right now? I suspect that this is probably not true. Discuss?
  3. Yes, I agree that PVP players tend to act in this way more than PVE players. Not all of, of course, but it does seem to attract that sort. Personally, I never play PVP and tend to only play WvW when necessary for the daily achievements.
  4. I used to think that GW2 had the best and friendliest community of any MMORG I've played - and I've played quite a few. However, of late, there seems to me to have been noticeable increase in the number of arrogant, aggressive, rude and plain nasty players in this game. So why has this happened? What has changed? Steam????
  5. The slight, half-cocked frown of the confused faced emoji expresses confusion but also a range of other emotions, including bafflement, displeasure, disappointment, mild sadness, and self-pity. So which is it and why?
  6. I'm sure it is true that the original event was there, but that does not mean they couldn't have changed it. Perhaps people didn't act like that back then, but I suspect they did, so Anet could have learned from that. I believe that the Battle of Lion's Arch was originally in open world? (Correct me if I'm wrong, since this was before my time in GW2), but they changed that to be an instance, so it could have been done.
  7. It was obvious that some players would camp the story location to kill people just trying to do the story. I knew that from the start, so why did Anet do it? They must have known it too. Don't they understand that some people hate PvP in all its forms? It should have been a normal instance, not part of WvW. There are always player in every game who just want to spoil thing s for everyone else. Anet should not have facilitated them.
  8. Over the last few days, I've been seeing more and more Champs roaming around in the labyrinth, killing any player who doesn't see them in time or is otherwise unable to escape. It could be that new players are opening the purple doors without knowing that they will release a champ that they can't handle - or it may be some players deliberately doing it because they get some sort of perverse pleasure from it. I suspect that it's a little of both, but the fact that it seems to be happening more and more makes me think it's deliberate most of the time. I can't understand why people do this. I can only guess it's the same sort of people who think it's funny and/or clever to put a Box O Fun right on top of a Banker. Somehow, annoying, inconveniencing and otherwise spoiling the game for others seems to amuse them.
  9. I tend to play solo and I've been in GW2 for something like 6 years, so rapid levelling isn't an issue for me because I know the game and the mechanics for each class. What does concern me, however, is that new players will level so quickly that they don't have a chance to learn the game and, perhaps more importantly, how to play their chosen class properly. They will then find themselves with a high or max level character, facing tough enemies (especially if they play in HoT) and will be unable to defeat them. This may frustrate them to the point where they quit the game. Someone once said to me that the levelling from 1 to 80 is like a tutorial and there is some truth in that. Levelling too fast could mean that new players don't have a chance to learn.
  10. The one thing I would say is, if this does happen, please, please make it optional. Don't force all existing account onto Steam. Having had bad experiences with Steam, I do not trust it and would definitely not want to use it. I've no wish to have to keep trying to reclaim my account from Russian hackers - again.
  11. Why did they do this? I see no good reason. If they think, for some reason, that it is better for new players (and I don't see why it would be), then change it for new accounts, but don't mess with existing accounts !
  12. At the end of EoD, it did seem to me that most, if not all, of the old characters were retiring in one way or another (with the exception of Majory). New characters are definitely going to be needed.
  13. I logged in today to find that the listing of daily achievements showing on screen has changed. Ir used to show the ones for the game-mode being played (ie pve, wvw or pvp), but now seems to show a mixture of 6 across all three modes. Personally, I don't like this. Its not a big issue, as you can click on it to be taken to the achievement tab on the Hero panel to see them all, but I find that a little inconvenient and much preferred the old way. What does everyone else think?
  14. Ok, maybe 17th century, but can't imagine one of Cromwell's ironsides knowing what a bio-terrorist is
  15. Someone is confused by what I said? Ok, I'll be blunt. Modern American speak is inappropriate for a Medieval fantasy setting. Would a 15th Century Chinese person have ever heard of the word "bio-terrorist"? Of course not, so it should not be used. And WTF does "bougie" mean. I don't even know myself.
