there is no mount etiquette. None of what you said actually exists. These are only your ideals and as a veteran player I couldn't care less.

It was the suggestion, of a concept.  The idea of using a mount responsibly.  I am aware that there are no rules or skills called mount etiquette in the game.  Player behavior can absolutely influence others.  I would be foolish to claim that social constructs affect everyone, but they do influence the majority of people.  If group influence wasn't effective then social sciences would not be a thing.

"Grind the universe down to the finest powder and sift it through the finest sieve.  Then show me one atom of justice, one molecule of mercy. And yet you act as if there is some ideal order in the world, as if there is some rightness in the universe by which it may be judged."  -Death

  2. Or we could educate players about courtesy.

    Mount etiquette.

Remember, shunning is a part of etiquette.  If a person persists in rude behavior, after being asked to stop, we collectively avoid and ignore that player.

I understand the position. You have no control over how players play with their mounts, so you blame the mounts for the bad behavior.  Since you can't get the problem players removed from the game, you make an appeal to have the siege turtles removed instead.

  3. Actually, how many more stat combinations would Anet release for armor?  What is left that would be useful?  Saying that new stat combinations will have to be unlocked for use in legendary equipment might not mean much.

Edit: I suspect the new legendary rule was made specifically for legendary relics.  Including the other legendaries in the rule seems to be an empty attempt at "fairness."  If that is the case then I don't expect Anet will alter their new rule.

  4. Ah! So what you want is for Anet to be more vague when describing new content.  That way the announcements are subject to wild speculation.  More hype is generated for new content because of speculation and theory crafting. No one will be able to quibble about specifics upon release because of the vague language used for the announcement.

Anet should probably use these types of words and phrases in all content announcements: similarly, adjacent to, very much like, nearly all, somewhat like, for the most part, largely, usually, often, likely to, ect.  Pleanty of corporations sprinkle such language throughout official announcements to temper customer expectations and hedge against any accidential omission.

Is that what you as a customer want?

  5. Well they did those flame armor sets a few years ago.  Those were just existing armor with fire and glow effects added.  If they recycled armor like that again it would be an opportunity to update the dye channels ect.

They probably should just release premium gemstore versions of each armor set.  Perhaps without the extra glow or elemental effects.  Ideally they would also remove some of the extra spikes, ropes, and shashes that just add clutter.

    I would buy them.

  6. There is pleanty of room on Tyria for entire civilizations that the humans just haven't traveled far enough to discover.

Tyria is actually a massive planet. If you look at the globe in the order of whispers headquarters, you will see that Tyria is mostly rock and sand.  There are large patches of water, but nowhere near as high a percentage as found on Earth.  When you look at one of those patches on the globe, then think about the bodies of water that we have encountered, the scale is surprising.  All of Magumma jungle is the green moss that grows around the edges of a mud puddle.

The Guildwars story has been focused around civilizations that are near the last human settlements.  Tyria is so large that we have only explored a small fraction of the surface.  We are ants that float across a puddle in leaf boats, and declare that we have crossed the entire world.

  7. Err I thought pay to win was where you buy stuff from the in game cash shop, or from that game's website, and you gain a competitive advantage over other players in that game.

Does Anet sell these extra wide monitors?  Do they get a commission from the manufacturer for each monitor sold?

For the term "pay to win" to apply you have to be paying Anet or NCsoft for the thing that is granting you a competative advantage.

The term "Pay to win" is being misused.  If this were a debate I would accuse OP of equivocation.

  8. Is it that Anet doesn't want players to feel uncomfortable?  I suppose major character flaws could trigger some people.  Villains who actually say disturbing things or who say uncouth things to the player may also discomfort people.
It is just that if you spend all of your time avoiding stepping on toes, you don't get anywhere or see anything (except the floor, you get a real good look at the flooring)

  9. I don't mind being a side character.  The commander can't realistically have a "Hero's journey" anymore.  We are too powerful, too socially connected, and too moral.  The commander cannot improve.  Sideways progression does that in a game.  This wouldn't be so bad if the other characters did have character arcs. Satisfying character arcs.

None of the good guys have plot relevant flaws that need to be overcome in order to advance the story.  They don't fail in any substantial ways.  Only vilians suffer consequences and it's usually death.  Disposable vilians arent exciting.  It is also rather difficult to redeem someone who never does anything actually evil on camera.  Killing npcs isn't evil enough, we kill major bosses and nameless mooks all the time.

I don't want WoW type progression where we are set back to zero at every expansion.  That is more of a treadmill than a hero's journey. To keep lateral progression, Anet needs better characters. Hire writers who can write characters with depth and convincing flaws. I need to see my own bad points within the main cast.

... We are instigated a full on rebellion against a tyrannical dictator who his eating his subjects; that is pretty dark...

...The fact she is so eager to kill her brothers and sisters; It all sounds so saucy.

These sound like King Thorn's sort of people!

I feel that Eparch and Mad King Thorn should meet.  I feel like that would be a good time!

Why not bring Thorn and his lunatic court into the mix?  It's not like the story is fully taking place in Tyria anymore.  The Mad Realm has to be closer to wherever the kryptis live than it is to Tyria.

if I can't have a swimsuit or wearable underwear, you can't have your whatever neither.

I prefer to think that the more fashion they add, the more likely a swimsuit adjacent item is to slip through. A gymnastics outfit, a dancers leotard, ect.

The profane armor set would do if they removed all of the little fetish belts and shortened the legwarmers.

  12. My mesmer already has an elite skill that grants mass stealth.  I suppose vanishing as I turn someone into a moa may be useful.

But yeah if they made these relics, I expect that the devs would give the relics complicated or inconvenient triggers.

I suspect that the devs don't want to make support characters redundant.

"Squad leader can we recruit an alac support?"

"You already have alac support at home."

  13. Do you mean the over-the-top style of 1970's rock stars?  Fur, exaggerated makup, wigs, ect.

Or did you just mean ball-gowns and skirts for male characters? There is a difference.

    We just got a kilt.

It has taken forever to get simple pants for female light and heavy armor. They almost always  add a skirt or a butt-flap to female pants.

Maybe its the privilege of playing Warrior but both new Bosses feel as difficult as a Dps Golem.

Go Melee and do your rotation until its dead.  "shrug"

Other then the Boss moving around, basically nothing happens.

Ah, I wondered how they were going to balance ranged play and melee play.  I guess that making bosses ignore people within melee would do it.

  15. A better way to have written that last part.  The death threat at a later date, while we are currently and clearly helpless, is jarring.  If it had said, "I want you to suffer."  Something along the lines of "No one will know agony as you shall know it"  Then he walks away.  Now people  can wonder why did it let us live?  What is it planning to do?  be intentionally vague.
Then you can have everyone slowly go insane during the next story arc.  No one seems able to stop it.  Whispers, Like Jormag used to do.  Hallucinations, where npc's are fighting each other but see cryptis.  Walking through a story instance and you fall through the ground and the game cuts to you cowering in a hallway with people asking you, "What is wrong commander?"  Ziatan bursting through the ground and we fight a proper battle.  "What is going on? This can't be real! Zhitan is dead!"  With no explanation given afterward.   Basically mental torture.

Edit:  For that matter the commander has had mentally unstable episodes before.  Perhaps the commander is becoming too unstable and needs to be confined.  Or perhaps the commander is delusional and only thinks that allies are trying to imprison them.  Maybe from the player's point of view we can't prove it one way or the other.  Obviously we need to find the big bad, but the big bad doesn't seem to be anywhere.  We are seeing things, hearing things, our new friends are chasing us, or maybe they aren't?  Rifts are still occuring but dragon minions are coming out, civilians are coming out.  Sometimes they drop cryptis essence, sometimes they drop the loot consistent with their appearances.  Did the commander really just massacre a group of fleeing civilians?  No they were monsters, monsters in disguise!  I think.  Cryptis don't drop cloth scraps though.

  16. Muklucks criticism seemed on point in one of his latest videos.  To paraphrase:

    Spoiler

I the Supreme being of chaos have you helpless before me.  I am so enraged by what you have done that I am going to kill you all in three months!  It then leaves without killing anyone.  Wut?

  17. As to why Mesmer rifle doesn't create a clone when you target a player:

When a clone is generated by a skill it automatically auto attacks the creature you were targeting as it was created.  If rifle were to generate clones when you target a player those clones would naturally follow and target that player.  If the player never dies then the clones could persist indefinitely.  (If you don't shatter, if the clone doesn't take a lethal amount of damage, If you don't generate a fourth clone, and if you don't move too far away from your clone.)  I could imagine two mesmers giving another player a near permanent entourage of six heal-clones.

A more fun example would be ten mesmers following a guy around town and generating thirty clones.

I have experienced signet of illusions generating a clone that target bits of scenery that the clone cannot reach.  The signet's passive generates a clone that targets a nearby hostile entity, sometimes my staff aoe causes an object to become hostile.  I have stood nearby just to see how long the clone would last.  Signet clones are quite content to remain after I leave combat, in fact the clones themselves eventually also leave combat and sheath their weapon.  If you are lucky the clone can spawn far enough away from the local enemy spawn that the clone just doesn't get attacked.  My longest test was ten minutes.  I suspect that the clone would have lasted longer, but I became bored.

I don't mind rifle generating clones when players are targeted, I don't mind those clones persisting indefinitely.  I am afraid that Anet would force clones to self destruct when leaving combat just to avoid clone swarms in towns.  I just don't like anet adding an additional self destruct mechanic to clones.
To be honest I really would like to see a player run around Lion's Arch pursued by 30 clones and 10 mesmers.
