We have two costume contests. One requires that you can log in ingame and attend the event in Lion's Arch on an EU server. If you are on a free account, we'll gladly mail the prize to another account for you.
The other costume contest is a live costume contest on Discord. For that you need to dress up in real life. Just take a picture or, even better, show off your costume live via webcam.

To celebrate the 16th annual King and Queen's Horrorween event, this year we also have a Jack-o-Lantern carving contest!
To take part, post a picture in this thread of a Jack-o-Lantern that you carved from a real pumpkin or turnip, and include a note in the picture that reads Horrorween 2021.
Simply write "Horrorween 2021" on a note, and place it next to your creation when you take the picture. This way we can make sure that the Jack-o-Lantern is actually yours, and made specifically for this contest. Entries that do not include this note, must be disqualified.
The deadline is the day after the 2021 Horrorween event. The winner of the best Jack-o-Lantern receives a grand prize. Extra points are awarded for original creations.
1ST PLACE WINNER(Master Carver): Nitsirk! You win: Grinning Gourd Rifle Skin, a Mini Llama Code, a Polyluminescent Undulating Refractor (Orange), a Mini Pumpkin Jack and 10 Mystic Coins.

Must the Jack-o-lantern be Guild Wars themed or Horrorween themed?
No, any Jack-o-lantern will do.

The King and Queen's Horrorween 2021 - Official Art Contest
To celebrate the 16th anniversary of the oldest community event in the history of Guild Wars, we are holding a spooktacular Halloween art contest. To enter, post a Halloween art piece that you created in this thread, and include at least one of the event's hosts in your art piece. The deadline will be the day after the Horrorween 2021 event. So make sure you submit your entry on time!
Note that by taking part in this contest you are granting us permission to use your artwork for future (non-commercial) promotion of the Horrorween. We like showing off the amazing art of previous events.
Since this year's theme is the Haunted Carnival, extra points are given if you include a circus or funfair theme as well! We have spectacular prizes for the top 3 art pieces, as well as smaller prizes for the runners up.
1ST PLACE WINNER: Kroy! You win an ArenaNet Community Chest Code and Shrouded Bench of the Final Judge.
2ND PLACE WINNER: Monochromie! You win a Palawa Joko Funko POP! Mini code and Shrouded Bench of the Final Judge.

I'm curious to know if there is lore regarding various necromancer skills/spells. I don't expect clear answers on any of these questions (because a lot of it seems open to interpretation), but perhaps some of the lore community can piece together more info than I can on this subject.
What is a signet exactly? Is it a symbol that a necromancer carries with them, or a symbol they draw?What is a mark? Is it simply a symbol that the necromancer conjures forth, or do they draw it on the ground?What does it mean to steal life force? Traditionally, a spell like Life Transfer is Blood Magic (in GW1), but does the necromancer steal the blood of their foe, or something else?Is a Spiteful Spirit an actual malevolent spirit summoned forth from the Mists?When a necromancer sacrifices health, do they literally cut themselves with a ritual dagger, as the icons for Blood Ritual and Blood is Power suggest?Several necromancer spells deal with darkness and shadows. Yet, shadow magic doesn't seem to be a school of its own. Is shadow magic its own thing?Does Dhuumfire literally invoke the power of Dhuum himself? And could this be considered heracy?What is a well spell? Is it a dark power invoked from the depths of the earth and brought to the surface by the necromancer?What is a minion exactly? Is it a spirit inhabiting a body created from nearby remains?When a necromancer reaps souls, what exactly do they absorb?What happens when a necromancer uses spectral skills? Do they become a spectre themselves, or do they shift into a spectral realm body and all?Several necromancer skills imply contact with demons, such as Dark Pact. Are necromancers contacting demons in the Mists when they use these skills?What are sand shades exactly?

Just a quick update. Our judges are currently tallying the votes. We expect to announce the winners somewhere this week. Winners will be picked based on originality, artistic quality of the work, adherence to the rules of the contest and Horrorween spirit. Plus a bit of personal taste from each judge of course. The judges are pretty divided, so I think the final winners will be surprising to all of us.

What you said is exactly what we were hoping to do; To inspire people and give them a chance to try out something different, while also giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents to others.
