Running Yaks reward issue

So when you run yaks from the camp right to the objective I've noticed something:

If you speed the yak even once, you get Silver, not Gold. 

Is it a "time" thing? That is, does the reward depend on how LONG you've spent escorting the yak? 
 

My tests were from NW Camp in Red BL to Fire Keep.

Don't really pay attention to that when escorting since its usually more on really needing those sups at an objective after an attack and its out of them for further repairs so speed boosts are key if speedy yaks weren't installed. Will have to try and watch that.

when escorting yaks in red bl you have to start walking the yak from their spawn all the way to the port.  if you stop partway or don't escort it all the way you won't get gold event rewards.  I did this today and got bronze, silver and gold.  bronze because I stopped halfway to the port.  Silver because I was not quick enough to get the yak right when it spawned in the camp.  I was about 10 feet from the yak spawning point.  Hope this helps.

I guess I wasn't clear...

I started from the pen, walked inside the bubble all the way to the point where the yak disappears and you get the reward. If I do that, Gold. If I do the same thing but apply speed (warhorn 5 on a Soul Beast and the merged Raven skill) I get Silver. 

I escort the yak the whole way both times, but get different reward levels. 

If Anet can't get that right, how can we expect them to get defense credit done correctly?

that is the other thing i forgot to mention.  some reward events have been buggy in red bl.  Some people get keep capture credit in red bl others don't.  I have a feeling the walking yaks rewards may be the same sort of bug.  Have you tried walking yaks in alpine bl?
