If the game rewards players because they are  in an objective when it is under attack regardless of what said player is doing, I could exploit it, be in an objective and get rewarded when it is under attack while chatting to my mates, since I do not need to kill anyone or do anything to get rewarded.

Thats not what they content of my post indicated.  No one is advocating piking for credit.  The rules of WvW, before we even talk about defenses, already prevent you from getting a reward for doing nothing, so this concern is a non sequitur that doesn;t apply to what is being asked here.

seems to have rectified itself, and not killing people on siege, just defending either inner or outer, but getting kills each time, go figure

Still happening.  Seems to be a random component.  Not just keep keepers, but tower as well. Any type of defender.
