Hi all

Im looking for some advice on class/spec

I like to play a class with emphasis on support and small-man WvW. I used to play mostly duo as an engineer before the expansions and I loved the base engineer but I've heard that you have to spec scrapper or holo and, to me, holo doesn't look fun and I've heard that scrapper was crazy nerfed recently. I've also heard the expansion forced most core builds out of favor for one reason or another. One of the things I loved about the engi was that it was so versatile, but I don't want to play it if that's gone in favor of spamming the elite ability. So I think that I want to switch to something else.

I've liked the idea of a guardian in the past with zone control and survivability. Melee/Ranged doesn't matter. I don't like having to micromanage a pet. I don't know much about the new class or much about the elite specs in general. Any suggestions helpful :)

This is not fitting for the holosmith (or any elite). The specialisation revolves around the use of the specialisation for DPS-bursts. But the elite is just one traitline. You still have 2 others and it would be foolish to also not incorporate the core profession abilities in the build. It mostly means the engineer is more versatile. You can still support, just like always, but cause the dps is improved, your small scale skills have improved too.

The elite specialisation adds to more versatile classes.

Firebrand (guard) is basically support spec, try it out?

Sorry I don't play much WvW. Firebrand has some nice support with their Virtues and Mantras. Revenant's Herald is a mobile buffing tanky/support spec has instant access to protection, gain toughness the amount of Facets you have up. or go with Revenant's Renegade which is more of a DPS focused support which I don't think is good for PvP, great for PvE
