Maybe you haven't noticed Homestead is part of a paid expansion.

It's expected that the features will be locked behind the new crafting profession, which would take a lot of gold to level up and max, then even more gold and timesink to craft the individual objects which would give the functionality involved.  You're looking at potentially thousands of gold worth of materials and months' worth of time-gated crafts needed for all the functionality I talked about on top of the money it costs to buy the expansion.

For all of that time and gold investment, I think the features I talked about is an appropriate QOL reward.

Those who don't want to put in all that time and money can still use lounges.  They've lost nothing.
