Getting a bit sick of being auto-signed out.

That would be the best option, there isn't a site I don't go to that doesn't have that option, even some of personal banking sites give me the option of staying logged in(not that I would on a financial site, but I could). As for returning to your previous location, it's possible that has already been addressed as I opened up a thread today I was in a few days ago(had stopped on page 3) and it re-opened up back at page 3 just where I left off.
