Compliment feature/emote in game

I’m finding myself awed by some of the looks in game and I wish I could give a thumbs up/up-vote to the player, rather than typing out something really clumsy.Thoughts? Would people rather just get their compliments typed out, maybe start a conversation?

The compliment is more meaningful if you type it out, however clumsy. Sometimes it turns awkward, sometimes you make a friend, sometimes they aren't looking to make friends. You can't tell that by simply spamming an emote at someone.

I can see the use for someone who has a tough time typing. However, I don't want people to be robots either.

Then there are people like me who will abuse such a feature. I could easily see myself in town compliment spamming like I laugh spam in town already.
