Rytlock missing from Eye of the North

So I have seen other posts about missing NPCs in EOTN but not of the one I am missing. After finishing the story I was told I needed to talk to Rytlock to start the visions of the past collection part, I was able to read the message but could not find Rytlock and it seems that I am unable to continue. I have lost Aurene as well. I have tried restarting my game, my PC, and switching characters with no change. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure about Rytlock, I never lost him. Only Aurene. The latest bug fix restored her for me, though. Give it another look now.Also, by collection, do you mean unlocking the season 1 missions? For that you don't need Rytlock, you only need to activate a message near where Rytlock is.

Hmm...I didn't talk to Rytlock, yet my 'Visions of the Past' collections are now open.
Have you checked your Achievements panel?

Sorry forgot to update this I was able to do the 'Visions of the Past' collections, so it just npcs missing not a game breaking bug. Thanks for the advice MikeG and Inculpatus cedo.

Yeah Rytlock was missing for me on my first character, but not on any of the other characters I ran through the story (6 others so far) maybe it was fixed in a patch or he didn't appear for the character who unlocked the collection? Either way it's odd.
