For now all we can do is wait for Anet to fix it, but I'm sure they'll be able to do something to sort it out. (Even if that's restore us to a more recent backup so we lose slightly less progress, like only what was done this morning.)Gem store purchases are one thing I'm certain they'll be able to fix because there will be records outside of the game of that happening, so even if they lose all the in-game data they'll be able to see how much you spent and restore the gems.
