Building a guild

Recommended Posts

For starters have an idea as to what type of guild you want: PvE, Raids, WvW or an all-rounder PvX (to do wvw, they must be on the same server). Specify what region you're on NA or EU. This will attract the players you want from that region. Next, what is your guild all about (this will be important for later). Your guild could be based on common interest, hobbies etc, this will help to find similar minded players, and it will make it stand out from other guilds. If you aren't building a guild with a common interest, then ask yourself. What will make your guild stand out from the other guilds that are similar to yours. Next, write up a guild recruitment post. Your guild recruitment post is detailing what your guild is about.

Put in as much detail as you can about the guild. Be honest, don't mislead in your guild recruitment post that it makes it sound like you got 100 or so people when you only got like 5 members. Once you've settled with your guild. Edit to adjust the changes within your guild, so that it reflects it. Post it here; https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/categories/looking-for-guild, reddit guild recruitment, join a gw2 discord and post recruitment post there. Bump up your lfg recruitment post, every so often. As it will get buried pretty fast here. Advertise every so often in map chat (have a condesnsed version of your guild recruitment post and don't spam) and lfg by pressing Y.

Bottom line, advertise and keep your guild recruitment post up to date. gl

Hiya Dheeraj,

First of all, Like Calamity said, what do you want to do with your guild?A guild is a time consuming, expensive thing to build up.Do you want a guild hall? Or only do the guild initiative headquarters?

A Guild hall offers you a lot of possibilities to unlockthe Headquarters only a fraction of it:

  • General Merchant
  • Repair Anvil
  • Guild Vault: Stash

Here is some kind of guide:https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_hall

Remember this: a full completed guild hall takes around a year to 2 years longer if you are on your own. there are some time gates. I think it took us around 2500 G (we bought a lot of materials) to complete it and another 2000 G to fill it with all these decorations to make it feel like our own.

Good luck

once you claim a guild hall, yes but it'll take lots of effort and a hell lot of time if you want to level it to lvl 69 and max out your guild hall.

if you don't have a guild hall yet, you most likely need to recruit temporary members to help you claim one (around 3 or 4 people would do)

It's possible to fully level a guild on your own but it is much more tedious and expensive. Many of the pve missions can be solo'd for favor then it is just a matter of collecting the enormous amount of materials required for upgrades which is somewhere around 10-20k gold iirc. My personal guild is staying at level 50 because none of the remaining upgrades are worth the cost imo.

You don't have to recruit them into your guild. They can join your party and then help you out.

One can solo a Guild Hall, but as noted it will require quite a bit of time to fully level it (if that is your goal).

The most common reason for soloing a Guild hall is to expand storage capability for non-Account Bound items

One will probably need to use LFG to get some help acquiring a Guild Hall, but once acquired, it can be upgraded as a single member entity.

I would add to the above by recommending that you go into the Guild menu and set your weekly Missions to PVE only. You should easily be able to do the Easy Trek and Bounty missions . WvW and PvP missions usually require multiple Guild members. Mission are the only way to gain Favor - one of the Guild Upgrade currencies.

Also, be aware that most upgrades only advance your Guild Level by about a third (so it take three to complete a level). The exceptions to this are building upgrades, which will boost a whole level. So, if leveling your Guild Hall is a goal, don't forget to complete building upgrades.

If a fully leveled Guild Hall is not your goal, I would recommend getting to Level 40, as it will unlock an upgrade that will allow for further exploration, as well as another waypoint.

Good Luck! Have Fun!
