What i dont understand is that they dont use their own website/digital store. The 50 % off sales used to be that way. Backwards marketing (is there even a marketing department anymore or has this gone to nc soft?) and part of the profits go to amazon. And the virtual scarcity wall of course.

Selling direct makes them more money, but Amazon potentially gets them advertising via best sellers, recommendations, reviews, etc.
