  1. It's just how the game is designed. It might have something to do with the achievement system. You get achievements for maxing out the new professions on your characters when you use the points.
  2. This is true. I almost never see the turtle mount being used at all. Mostly it's the jackal, roller beetle, raptor, and skyscale mounts I see being used around the maps.
  3. I think I have a major issue regarding guilds. The longest commitment I made was several years after 2013. It wasn't a big guild. It was fairly small and I left due to it being inactive. Since then I've floated from guild to guild. I have come to the conclusion that I'm that member who doesn't stick around long. I haven't been able to find a guild that does a a lot of group stuff or around the clock activity. The ones I joined were active certain times of the week or were for late night players. So as soon as the guild went dormant after a few days. I'd check out and go guildless & see if there was one that had more activity. There was one. But the guild leader was condescending and I didn't like her attitude towards me. I didn't argue, I left. She made a lot of claims about her guild being the best at this and that. I'm sure it was true. But it wasn't very social. Just a lot of rude people including her. Maybe what I'm wanting is unobtainable or perhaps I have imaginary high standards of what I want in a guild. Maybe I'm lacking an understanding of what normal guild behavior is. I'm just wondering if I'm the only one. I really want to find a guild where I fit in. Maybe there isn't. I get along fine with random players in PVE and WvW. I just cant seem to find that in a guild. What does everyone else think?
  4. I have almost 6 thousand AP points. I originally didn't think it was a super big deal. I recently met a player who had over 30 thousand AP. We seemed to get along and I added them on my friends list. He/she started helping me doing jump puzzles. 20 minutes into it, they started lecturing me about AP and what it was and to look at their score. After that, they gloated & preached about their AP score. I got back lash from them because I had hardly done any of the jumping puzzles or this or that. At that point it just felt like bragging. Then after the help which I thanked them profusely for, they mapped out and quit talking to me as they wouldn't return my pm's. I just felt like that particular player wasn't getting enough recognition for their achievements and randomly picked a stranger to gloat to is the best guess I could come up with. It never was a big deal to me despite the fact you get some rewards depending on how much you've gotten through the years of playing. It was just one of those features where I was like, "Oh cool." and then I just moved on to doing what I wanted in the game after checking it out. I did want to get everyone else's opinion on whether or not AP is important to them. Thoughts?
  5. Skyscale is good where it is. It allows players to get around much easier. I have no complaints. Griffon works okay as well. It's much faster in the air when you jump off somewhere way high in the game. If you know your maps, you can glide around fine.
  6. Do the Norn spirits like Owl qualify as deities since the Norn worship them in the game or what is the difference?
  7. I got it pretty easily. I couldn't find any guides anywhere else. I just followed the hints off of the GW2 wiki. It is pretty accurate and I didn't have that much difficulty. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ruler_of_the_Skies
  8. It was tough at the beginning. Getting mastery pts for raptor, it being your beginning and only mount, starting out was a lot of work.
  9. I just ignore the chat. I especially hate being on a team where 2 of my team mates are having a verbal altercation and being vulgar to each other or there's people who absolutely refuse to work together. I don't do PVP to get with players who are interested in just trolling each other and we lose because of them. It's a turn off.
  10. I remember the Ritualist. It was one of my main professions in GW1. I don't know why Anet hasn't brought it back yet.
  11. Anything Guild Wars 2 content related is worth it to me, in my opinion. Getting Path of Fire and Living Story Season 4 with the mounts really paid off.
  12. I would like it if we could go back to having battles between the Kurzicks and the Luxons. But who knows. Perhaps they settled their differences or simply were killed off.
  13. I've grown tired of just playing the game by myself and random players that come and go on the map. Most of the guilds I have joined weren't social enough, as in they were pretty dead, their member base having been inactive for months, or several of the new members unresponsive. The guilds I joined were quiet with maybe one or two members that's willing to hang out and do stuff but weren't active or we were on at different times. Another issue I've run into with the bigger guilds is that sometimes you get completely ignored in the chat whether you're trying to get to know the community better or wanting to partake in things. I've been playing since 2013 and I've soloed much of the PVE content with rarely getting any help in the past. It's not that I don't want to be in a guild, it's just I haven't found a community of players that are encouraging and inspiring enough that makes me want to stay in their guild. I would love to be in a guild don't get me wrong. Any ideas or suggestions?
  14. It sounds like you have an internet problem. Maybe you should talk to your Internet provider and get a faster speed.
  15. Siege turtle sounds interesting. I dunno, we'll see I guess. Gliding was okay. It was one of many ways not to fall to your death should you accidently wander off the beaten path. I honestly didn't really care for it. I was just hoping that they'd be included in more expansions then just PoF because they're so useful and fun to run around on the map. I was hoping EoD might give us one or two to add to the collection.
  16. Are we going to get more flying mounts, like the Skyscale, with the new End of Dragons expansion?
  17. That's because they were a plot device. A lot of video game companies do this. Bethesda is very guilty of it because they do it all of the time in their games. Developers only do it to further the plot of a video game when one faction cannot be justified of being in a particular location or an event. So the designer(s) or author just creates a disposable faction to be there to help the character or in our case the people playing the game. The whole purpose of the "Order of the Crystal Bloom" is to purely to drive the plot and maintain its course until it's completed. Once the disposable faction's purpose is completed they become useless unless the developers decide that the faction can be used again in other stories. The Vigil, Priory, Whispers, the Pact, the Olmakhan, etc would all like a word. I imagine the Crystal Bloom will be the same, not the main showcase, but they still show up as the story progresses. That's not what I mean at all. I'm talking with any and all stories. It's a trope okay? Writers in all stories do it sometimes. Once the disposable faction's purpose is completed they become useless unless the developers decide that the faction can be used again in other stories. And the factions you just named have been used many times. However all factions in a story are expendable to the developers. They can choose to not use or refer that faction ever again if they wanted. A good example is writing that character or faction off to the point that they become distant in the story and future lore until another author picks up their work and had a fascination with that part of the story.
  18. What is the best location on the map to go to in regards of getting gold?
  19. Guild Wars 2 is a great game. I just have a few questions as to why anet picked dragons to be the main bad guys. Why did Anet decide with going with slaying dragons as the main antagonists for the game? There was a previous game that was designed in 2011 on the PS3 and X-Box 360 by Bethesda that had the player go around slaying dragons and absorbing dragon souls. I'm sure you know what game I'm hinting at. I just felt the plots were too identical.

  21. I understand everyone loves getting titles in the game due to achievements. But how many is enough? Do you want all of them or are you just happy with a few?
  22. Well said. I had no idea humans were on the Endangered list. Very interesting. I need to look into that. Why are you necro-ing a thread that is almost six months old?I didn't check the date or realize how old it had gotten. I just got an alert and it brought me back to the thread. I clearly wasn't thinking.

  24. Ok so apparently we played a game that sucked for the first 3 years of its existence. The vanilla game was fine when it launched, and its still fine now. Most new players don't even want to play the base game. They see a veteran player riding on a skyscale and they start asking where to get a mount. They want to play Path of Fire instead.
