  1. Wow. Good job ANET... Finished chapter 12 last night, went to bed. Trying to pick up where I left and I have to restart?...
  2. Interesting... Let me preface my reply by saying: I hope you're not easily offended, and dont take my opinions and feedback personally or as a personal attack on you. We live in 2020, and the majority of people online get easily offended compared to when I was much younger... With that said, I'd like to address your points directly. I've played GW2 on and off, mostly casually for a little over a year, maybe a year and a half. With that, the last few "main" story things I need to finish are some living world episodes and the Icebrood saga. (Just wanted to provide a little context) I also run AB events regularly when I sit down to play, and I'm very comfortable in the HoT maps. Its very hard to see, hate the map design and how dark it is in 70% of the places. --- Yes, you're in a sudo tropical undergrowth. Turn your brightness up and wander around a little more. Almost all maps with any repeat point to them are designed to be discovered and learnt. Lags way too much on my mid end laptop. --- Maybe crank your settings down or look at an upgrade. Computer parts degrade with excessive heat, and laptops are notorious for lackluster thermal solutions. Just being real with you. Floor mobs are wayy too overpowered and feel like boss mobs. --- Some legendary mobs are legendary for a reason. They are mini "boss" mobs. They're meant to be tackled by experianced solo players or small groups. Hence because of the same reason above, VERY hard to level up the masteries. --- Learning HoT maps on a basic level will help you travel on foot or glider while avoiding most mobs you don't intend to come in contact with. Alternatively if you have the PoF expansion - I'd recommend doing the very first quest for the raptor mount to make traveling around HoT maps and others a little smoother and faster. It makes a quality of life difference but it's by no means "needed" to travel maps. Why do masteries you ask? Because there are wayy too many hero points and other aspects of the completion of HoT, which require doing them. Which sucks. --- You'll gain a lot of masteries passively by playing the HoT story. I'm not sure why this is a struggle as a reaper, I'm a little confused but you may not have an ideal "solo" build if this is a frustrating experiance. It shouldn't be easy, but it shouldn't be overly hard for you to manage these. I can't Solo 50% of the hero points, being a max reaper. --- Refer to previous point. WAIT, I NEED TO DO A ADRENALINE MASTERY TO DO A HERO POINT WHICH CONSUMES MY LIFE WHEN I EAT BACON? WHEN MY LIFE POOL IS 22k?? --- Have a friend with a jackal use their dismount ability while you eat it, or make a forum post asking for assistance. The comminity is full of lovely people for the most part, and there are players who would love to help you for the 2 minutes ot takes. If you're in a guild ask in your guild. And due to the above reasons i mentioned above, I actually can feel better playing DARK SOULS than HoT. --- Adjust your thoughts and adjust your quality of life. They say ignorance is bliss for a reason. If you honestly think theres nothing you can do as a max reaper you're either not a max reaper or your build or playstyle is not up to par. HoT is definitely more of a challenge than the vanilla story and with it comes more things to learn about combat along with your combat build, and the way you tackle certain mobs. The internet is a wonderful thing - theres a plethora of opportunities to reach lit for help and advice, or search for solutions to problems in places like YouTube or forums like this. Hopefully my direct approach was slightly insightful or helpful.
  3. Actually after creating a new charechter, I've had exactly zero black screens, or frame rate issues or frame time stutters. Had a single application crash this evening and loaded right back up to keep playing issue free for another couple hours. If it's any help, I'm running 20.1.3 drivers and have no intent to update them as they work with everything I play currently.
  4. I have since made a new char and fps issues have resolved themselves. Would recommend trying this for anyone with similar spec PC and report back.
  5. Wow. I literally just started playing this game, spend the money on the expansions because reviews were good - and I'm having the same if not similar issues to this. This has been happening since early last year and there's no fix or info on this? TF?
  6. Might seem like a stupid suggestion (unless it works) but have you tried ruling out your keyboard? Does it alt+tab out of anything else, or just GW2? If just GW2 then forget the first part to this.
  7. Nah I never update my windows lol. It's windows 7 anyways. For comparison, my laptop (windows 10) with worse, but similar stats (i5 9300, gtx 1050ti, 8gb ram, 500gb ssd) has none of these issues. In the exact same desolate spot of southsun cove I break 60 fps with it, while with my PC I can get 60 looking at the sea / horizon, but when I look at the island, 20 fps. I think you might be onto something with your own post tbh... Windows 7. Not hating, but need I say more?
  8. Hi Danny - I'm very new to the game myself, whilst also being a PC and Mac owner, though I font game on the latter. That being said, I'm pretty sure your MBP is more than capable of running the game - so I'd estimate your experiance is not typical for your hardware. Theres a dedicated Mac feedback thread here: https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/666/feedback-guild-wars-2-mac-64-bit-client You may find some information or at least will be able to provide your feedback here, and hopefully get the dedicated support you need.
  9. Hello all - New player to GW2, noticed fairly low fps in some areas while playing, but ruled it out to just be poor optimization or the fact that I dont have the entire game downloaded just yet. I'm playing at that little arrow the downloader/client points out you can launch the game from before its fully downloaded. Anyway... I've been getting random freezes where everything on screen except the cursor just stops moving. I can still hear the game and its music, and I can still move the cursor around, but I cant get out of game - its frozen and completely unresponsive. Windows seems to be responsive, I can control alt delete, etc... however GW2 game seems to force itself on-top of all other windows and cant be closed in this state. Super odd... Any advice would be great. Running R5 2600, 16GB RAM, Strix 5700XT. Perhaps I should wait for the entire game to be downloaded and see how it is after, and/or give d612pxy a try?
