  1. I agree that the Gem Store items shouldn't be time limited. I would like to buy items that are seasonal and cannot be checking the Gem Store everyday since I take very long breaks from the game. I probably spend around $200 a year on this game but still end up frustrated that I can't get things that I want! Furthermore sometimes items go away and come back in an even more aggravating form, like BLC exclusives that go to Black Lion Statuettes... Now instead of just buying something from the store I have to gamble and gamble.. Having played Asian MMOs in the past I can say that the recent Gem Store release and sales schedules is mirroring them which is not a good thing! Please consider a more 'normal' way of selling premium cosmetic items in the store.
  2. The new expansion should have a higher than HoT difficulty, MUCH MUCH higher than is currently in the game. The problem with difficulty with the expansions is between: Difficulty arising from mapsDifficulty from monster types , (veteran), (elite), (champions) and amounts, (1 monster) vs (5 monsters)Difficulty from monster types, (branded hydra vs poison frogs vs sand lions)The game needs maps that are harder than PoF maps for sure, given that players will be entering EoD with mounts (flying mounts as well!) and gliding and new statted gears like trailblazer and berzerker. The maps needs to be as dangerous as Tangled Depths or Verdant Brinks, with more than 1 layer, the Desolation is the sole PoF map that meets this category I feel with the sulfur lakes and rivers. For point 2 the game needs to utilize champion monsters less like in HoT and use veteran and elites more and have more numbers of them. I recall the first HP fight I had in PoF with the Bottled Djinn in Crystal Oasis, I opened the bottle and engaged the Djinn who pulled the nearby sand lions, a sand shark, the patrolling forged and the famous veteran hydra... it was like a michael bay movie and I felt amazing having beaten them after 1 or 2 tries. W.R.T point 3 we also need more monsters with weird abilities, like blinding and the prismatic hydra boss with his 3 kinds of attacks.. there are so many fun and interesting ways to challenge players that don't involve monsters becoming target golems posing no challenge and just soaking up dps like a giant sponge. Use more Djinn or those Awakened bird monster things. Finally the game needs to punish people who wear glass cannon stats! You cannot have everyone using Zerkers or Vipers and have a healthy game! People have to learn to use defensive weapons like shields and use more non meta stats like Trailblazers or Celestials, open world is its' own thing and it should be respected. The devs also have to increase the rewards for open world participation that doesn't involve mindless farming.
  3. Yes, it should be buffed. I initially went PoF > Ascended Gear + optimization > HoT. On my new account I only have HoT so I didn't have mounts and any ascended gear so I could realize immediately what PoF does to HoT in terms of enabling players to ignore or tank through HoT mobs. You are going into the Maguuma Jungle that is filled with nightmare monsters and poisons and stealth frogs, it is supposed to be hard. The game could use a small area that is buffed to the heavens to provide an area for the intermediate players. Hardcore players won't be affected since any open world mob wouldn't be as hard as raids or T4 fractals and casuals wouldn't even enter the place that is buffed but for the intermediate players it could be something they want. Not even entire map maybe but a small zone within the map? Like how the branded areas in PoF means another level of danger. The analogous zone would be Timeless Isle in World of Warcraft, entirely optional and new rewards and stuff but the monsters are quite a bit harder than usual. Hot should be buffed? Hmm I feel they already have the most hard hitting foes in the game?
  4. I started GW2 around PoF launch and then went to HoT after finishing the main story. I find HoT zones to be some of the best designed in all the games I have played. The verticality of the maps and the little secrets they contain are amazing for exploration. The game difficulty was a little hard coming from PoF mobs but it was not an insurmountable issue, you just need to use stats with more survivability to kill monsters. I would be comfortable with HoT zones being buffed a little, its optional content anyway and the game could stand to have some harder open world content for those who would seek it.
  5. Hi guys! I have been using the GW2 Mac OS Client on and off. There has been a severe performance hit from Path of Fire launch to the release of the last few LW episodes. That being said I think there are a few things you can do to improve performance whilst using the existing Mac OS Client. This is off the top of my head and you will need to google the rest of the steps. Lock the DPS count and use vsync to 'cap' the frames being rendered, on a small screeen I can make do with 30fps cap.Reduce shadows to none or the lowest setting.Reduce the model count.Reduce model quality.Reduce textures.Reduce most post processing.** Special command, try to launch the GW2 Mac OS client from the command line (Terminal) with the -forwardrenderer prompt. With all the above optimizations you should be able to have 19-20 fps in core Tyria (On a Macbook Air 2018 or similar machine) and 10-15 fps in HoT maps. This is only for solo play and not for metas. The problem with the existing GW2 client is that it is not using metal and the performance is atrocious. I have since moved on to using a Windows machine to play GW2. Cheer!
