  1. hello, if you spend all you money on say crafting and then die in a place like... i don't know desert oasis for example and cannot afford the cost to revive at the waypoint how do you return your character to life? is there a free res to some inconvenient place i am missing or do all res cost money? I may or may not be speaking from experience.
  2. I wonder if it cause their billing department is outsourced and it is too complicated for them to figure out?
  3. Exactly :) thank you for this and I agree completely. More eyeballs on the game is the end goal and getting gw2 up there on top categories will only help <3 Yes, YOUR end game goal is more views, and the more popular a game is your viewership goes up. YOU benefit more directly from that. Views don’t mean paying customers, and I guarantee the trickledown from viewer to paying customer is negligible. Meanwhile, the end goal of Anet and NC soft isn’t twitch eyeballs, it’s $$$ on their monthly financial reports. And that’s achieved by fixing the game, following through on years old words and promises, updating professions more frequently, balancing professions more frequently, not burning bridges with players, putting out substantial updates and Xpacs in more timely manners... Those are marketable, generate web words of mouth, and translate to $$$... and it’s those things that indirectly increase twitch views at the end of the day. Not the other way around. there is a problem in your line of thinking though... while the dev team is making new content and the qa team is dealing with bugs what is the marketing team doing? how are they getting the word out about all the fantastic work that the devs are doing? when there is a really good balance patch that everyone really likes and it will bring people into the game as you say do they just send out an email blast that say ok GW2 is better come on in? how do you spread word of mouth? well i can tell you a pretty cost effective way to do it... pay a streamer in made up digital currency to do the work for you and then they get to make money as well. as illustrated in the 7 habits of highly effective people... the best deal is a Win-Win deal. arena net gets very cost effective advertising and the streamer gets followers. you would have the streamer have a harder time growing and arena net make all the money. this deal is good for arena net but takes way longer to happen and during that time arena net incurs an opportunity cost of not have a steady influx of users to supply capitol to fund the fixing and development that will make them more money. Twitch is not the be all end all, and i barely use it myself but i can tell you i would rather give my money to an awesome dev team and a funny twitch/youtube content creator then have that ad money end up spent on google ad space.
  4. just to through my two cents in here, i discovered GW2 by getting a Mukluk stream vod recommended in my youtube home page. if not for his twitch stream they would not have sold both expansions(Ultimate ed.) and 100USD in gems. banner ads and email blasts are a fart in the wind compared to happening accross a person showing you why their game is amazing. and i do think it is amazing... so much that i quit my 13 year old account in WoW because Muk showed me how fun the game could be. if he hadn't showed me i would not have made it past lv 10. This can go for any streamer as well.
  5. mungo your complaint is very warranted. arena net's marketing department made a mistake in the post. it's fine to make mistakes, that's how we all learn... all they needed to do was edit the post before the sale started to say "Edit: This sale is only available to U.S. residents, sorry for the inconvenience". If they had done that they would have earned points for listening to the community and everyone would have understood... except for the people that complain no matter what and there is no pleasing them. The interesting point is that by letting this lay, they created negative press that was 100% avoidable from people reading the post on April 2nd, going to amazon, and being disappointed. Marketing really phoned it in on this one. which is fine so long as they learn that the best way to put out a fire is to not light it in the first place. Edit: fixed a couple typos
  6. well i cant offer you a solution but i can confirm that just now i tried to submit a ticket and was asked to sign in which i did and it worked. initial thoughts if you haven't tried them already... try a different browser, try turning off ad blocker, try reseting your password using the forgot password tool. those are just me fumbling in the dark though
  7. does this sale exclude canada?... usually we get wrapped in to US targeted stuff.
  8. regarding inculpatus, my observation is not about whether or not that are entitled to or not... i never said they were not allowed. I'm just bringing up that potential consequences and bad PR that executing that power may have. Arena Net can put whatever they want in their EULA... they could have a section in all caps that said if you log in for less then 1 Hr per month your account gets deactivated for being idle or a section that says if you change your password more then 10 times a month you will be charged 500 gems automatically. it's not about what they write in all caps its about what happens when they do what they say they are going to do.
  9. I think it might be pay to win a little bit due to in game gold buying with gems... not super major tho. The bigger question is: Can it be pay to win if arena net can't process you gem transaction ;)
  10. obviously you wouldn't resort to chargeback off the hop. Our friend here was pretty agitated and considering a chargeback due to bad CS. Imagine if they had done the chargeback and ArenaNet just auto deletes their account like Inculpatus describes. that would not be a fun situation to be in. A reasonable recourse would be to lock the account and send an email to the user that "this is the situation" and open a dialogue because misscommunications like what could have happened here can lead to a massive trust breach between the business and customer. If that harsh mentality toward chargebacks is something they feel strongly about then they should have a disclaimer during purchase that this is a no refund game, your mistakes are your own. kinda like gamigo or runeforge games as an example
  11. Terminating and blacklisting an account because of a charge back seems super drastic and something a low budget scammer website would do. Especially if that account is in good standing and has a positive transaction history.
  12. I also have been having issues buying gems on the store. I live in Canada and PayPal and visa do not work. And you can’t get gem cards anywhere. Maybe Arena Net should evaluate its contract with Digital River. It seems they would have less issues if they used a company that liked taking money from people giving it to them. I feel like it’s Opposite Day right now.
  13. I recently tried to get some gems using the in game store and wasn’t successful so I put in a ticket with the billing firm and have that pending. (Hopefully before the impulse desire to spend money on your game wears off). So I checked the post about gem card availability and looked at the NA distributors to go out at get one. They included Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Newegg. None of them had stock or listings online but I figured I go down and have a look. In Canada we do not have target so that’s off. Bestbuy and Walmart customer service counters both confirmed those items were not on their distribution lists. Newegg is online and has no listings for guild wars 2. Could you please update the gem card post in the FAQ to reflect reality.
