  1. Well would even accept that but given what you get for 1000 in the legendary pack it seems a bit steep.
  2. Apologies if there is a thread for Astral Rewards suggestions elsewhere but when I searched couldn't find it. Anyway would dearly love it if one of the seasonal Astral Rewards was a Gift of Exploration. Personally, I would happily pay 1000 marks for a Gift. I am currently doing my 4th World exploration and it is tedious in the extreme and at my age (71) it's a terrible use of my time. Anyway just a suggestion and it could even be available to people only if they had completed World Exploration at least once.
  3. This week my basic alt accounts have weeklies in expansions that I do not possess. Is this a mistake or a policy change anybody know?
  4. I'm with Mega; Alliances don't seem to solve any problems and create new issues as people don't know each other or the Discords. On Moogoloo, I haven't seen any open tags with Discord at all and this has been generally true the whole beta. It may be that some very strong 500 person WvW guilds will enjoy the new system but even if the entire guild stay together that's only a fraction of one server population. If you had guilds of 2000 then theoretically you could form a likeminded group. However, if that were the case people would have to take turns to get on and queues would be enormous. The main issue with old system for me was total really bad matching. Over Christmas FoW and WSR were both matched with really strong partners creating two near invincible guilds. FoW were in T1 and WSR in T5. Because the match-ups were so one-sided servers were desperate to get into a tier that didn't include either server. In the brief match-up after both WSR and FoW were left to play by (with) themselves and FoW were nowhere near as intimidating but to their credit (begrudgingly given) WSR were still dominant. The big issue for me is that everyone wants to win 70% of the time so we all like to play against opposition that is weaker than us but not so weak that it is too easy. As rewards are the same whether you are in T1 or T5 weaker servers deliberately try to get relegated when they find the going too tough. If there were rewards given to incentivise people to win then people might try and improve rather than look for weaker opponents. Just as a suggestion have a set of sparkly, flashy, highly coloured infusions that become progressively more difficult to obtain so winning T1 5 times gets you first, then 10, 20 etcetera. Just a thought,
  5. I am now in the right alliance, thank you for sorting this. Apologies if I was a little testy, this is the weekend where I am finishing off my final legendary trinket so having to solo in WvW was not fun. Best wishes for this beta.
  6. Well I have now been placed in the right alliance for which I am grateful. However, with respect, if you release a brand new piece of code on a Friday that affects tens of thousands of users, shouldn't you be prepared for things to go wrong and have a team ready to handle the issues. In this instance it appears things went very badly indeed and given that we are customers we should expect a reasonable level of service. I suspect that the Devs have been working overtime to manually transfer people to the right alliances and as the numbers seem to be in the thousands then this will take time. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the situation to be rectified promptly when it effectively wrecked the first 2 days of the beta.
  7. Well a post here and a ticket and I'm still in the wrong alliance with most of my Guild on Skrittsburgh and I'm on First Haven. I understand that some people have been moved but what do I have to do to have my case resolved. I will miss our Sunday morning raid at this rate.

  9. @Araleg.3152 Rather like that solution as the problems are not that WSR, FoW and Gandara are amazingly good but that when their zerg is 50-100% bigger than yours you tend to do badly when they have any knowledge at all. For example today we have a chill Sunday morning run which was 20-30 players and we were clouded by WSR who attacked with roughly the same numbers. They did not fare well at all until we attacked a T3 keep when we were overwhelmed after the EWP was pulled and we found ourselves up against a huge cloud. We initially killed quite a few but as were whittled down eventually failed. I have no issues at all with losing fair fights the imbalance is so bad that many on our server who don't need tickets just aren't playing making the imbalance even worse.
  10. Well any server that swamps the other two and wins by sheer numbers is going to be fun but some of us have lives and can only play 3 or 4 hours average per day, many less. As you are having so much fun you should accept the challenge and have 4 weeks with Gandara and FoW.
  11. Can you translate that into English please. To clarify I don't think WSR as individuals are that much stronger than the average BT player, it's just there are way more of them and you get overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
  12. So after every relink the servers are randomly assigned to tiers. This time Blacktide had the misfortune to matched against FoW who we had just played against the previous week. To add insult to injury FoW are linked with a strong secondary server and every week the 2 other servers are in a race to see who can be relegated to a more manageable tier. We ended up playing FoW for 2 more weeks until pretty well every Commander did the minimum so we could get relegated. We had the same issue in T2 against Gandara and unfortunately one obsessive PPTer ensured we stayed in T2 so now we are playing WSR. So far WSR has 128,312 War Score while BT and Gunnars have 88,000 combined. There are one or two very good zergs in WSR but the main reason they are winning is that they flood maps and overwhelm the opposition by sheer numbers. FoW, Gandara and WSR are incredibly strong at the moment and linking them with strong secondary servers makes the imbalance even worse. At the reset these 3 servers should be in T1 not randomised where they play far weaker servers and make life a misery for the opponents. For example, 5 minutes after reset the camps adjacent to spawn both had mithril and diamond players ganking the weaker players trying to capture the camps. Diamond and Mithril players have all the tickets they could possibly need so exactly what is achieved by this apart from the pleasure of ruining it for others. At the next reset please, please ensure fairer matchups at the start because it is ruining WvW for a lot of people.
  13. Have to respond to this. No I enjoy WvW a lot and I like playing in a big zerg with friends in my guild or even small groups when the server is quiet. When I play I am happy to lose as long as it's a fair fight and I die a lot because at 71 I don't that good reflexes. I don't play to ruin other people's enjoyment of the game as you do.
  14. If you liked to highlight skills you would duel in WvW unofficial duelling sites as I said before, there you can fight against people who also have skills. Seems to me you only want to fight when you have an overwhelming chance of winning and that doesn't represent skill just bullying. Anyway it's my last word on the subject, 3 weeks from now I won't need any tickets for legendary armour or trinkets and will not need to collect them at any cost and you can just play with yourself.

I think the original poster fails to understand that without voice a squad is way less effective and if you are stuck in T1 with FoW the only way to beat them is to have a squad the same size as their cloud following the Commanders instructions and sticking tightly together. You can't do that without voice as a good commander will be steering the squad around the enemy wells and instructing his squad when to simultaneously drop their damage on the opponents. The main issue with a new discord is typing the link from WvW into Discord as I don't think you can cut and paste. If there is a way would love to know it as every relink there is a need to add a couple of new discord servers and a TS server or two. Finally, a good squad with the right attitude is about the best fun you can have in an MMO. Our Guild does a pyjama party on Sunday morning, mix of boys and girls making really terrible jokes knocking over towers and keeps, fighting enemy zergs and not getting upset when we wipe. I have played Everquest 1 and 2, WoW and FFXIV and only the very best nights there compare with a really good squad here.
  16. I see what you mean is that you only want to fight weaker players and aren't interested in fair fights just some perverse satisfaction from winning. WvW is NOT intended as PvP. It's intended for groups of up to 50 or more to fight each other and the intention is for people to have fun. The best fun I have in WvW is when we are fighting a blob of roughly the same size and whoever shows the most skill wins. The fun bit comes where the blob you are in wants to win but doesn't take things badly if we lose. There is no sport in beating up a group half your size but I fully accept that if I am soloing a camp and a zerg arrives looking to flip and resupp then I will be ganked. I have no issue when we are flipping a camp or a tower if a competing group contest and you get killed because that is part of the game. However, I personally do have an issue with people that have nothing better to do with their life than prey on weaker players making it a misery for them and for little discernible gain for them.
  17. Fair enuff, but that isn't what you implied as you suggested that you lie in wait at camps attacking unsuspecting players. There is an informal place for duels in the area between the two rival camps in the Alpine Borderlands.
  18. Well with all (no) due respect you are just proving my point. I am guessing that you are a reasonably good player but find that in PvP you don't do that well at your level. If you deliberately prey on weaker players then it totally ruins the game for them. In 4 weeks I will have all my trinkets and 3 sets of Legendary Armor so the issue will be resolved for me. Please think of the effect you have on other players by your conduct.
  19. Well I don't know who dreamed up FoW/Kodash but if ever a server is strong enough to play by itself it's FoW. Both last and this week they are totally dominant to the point where last week both Desolation and BT stopped playing in the hope that they would drop. At busy periods their war score has been greater than the total for the two other servers combined. It's also given rise to some highly unsporting behaviour by some in FoW. They are so dominant that the other servers only have one or two keeps and towers each. Sometimes it's difficult just to flip the camps next to their spawn. Some FoW players are actually hiding in the adjacent camps and ambushing anybody attempting to flip them. They are often platinum and mithril players who almost certainly don't need the tickets or the participation and just enjoy killing weaker players: it doesn't help your level score much so the main motivation would seem to be to have malicious fun and make it a misery for others. I have no issue with players defending Towers and Keeps but sitting in a camp just waiting to ambush people who you know are almost certainly weaker than you doesn't seem very sporting to me.
  20. There really needs to be a change to the scoring system when a server is outnumbered. As I understand it the other servers do not get war score but they do get a personal score and their pip count is refreshed when they kill players. There is one particular guild who anybody in Europe know well who love to just lie in wait in camps and gank anyone who tries to flip the camp. Given that the players flipping camps are either new or poorer players they find easy prey. It also appears that most the players who indulge in this are at least gold and often diamond rank. In other words they don't need anything much as they probably have all the legendary armour, trinkets and fluff WvW has to offer. WvW is not PvP and I freely admit to being a poor player mainly because I am aged 70 and came to GW2 less than 2 years ago and my reflexes just can't match 20-40 year olds. I don't begrudge having to farm tickets for 22 weeks to get a full legendary set because once obtained it lasts for the rest of the game's life. It is intensely annoying that others seem to play just to make it difficult for others as spending an hour or two ganking newbs in a camp is a highly inefficient way of maxing your score. Legendary is the only way I realistically can get Legendary armour apart from maybe being a highly inefficient member of a Raid group. I am able to max my tickets in a normal week but anytime we are up against this guild it's just a total misery. Don't get me wrong I understand if I am flipping a camp and I get ambushed by others from a rival server who also want to flip the same camp that is legitimate as is being ambushed on the way to a target or any chance encounters but the tactic of just waiting in a camp to ambush people is not to me at least in the spirit of the game.

OK I am a very old (just shy of 70) player with relatively poor reflexes so am not expecting to do top tier content but I am happy to join our Guild groups for the metas and easier strike missions. Like everybody else I like to craft legendaries which means needing the Gifts from WvW. Initially, I was logging on for the new WvW dailies at 01:00 UK time and would do the easy dailies and log off but at a certain point I started staying on longer joined informal groups and was able to make considerable progress. Last few days however, one faction has been owning everything to a point when I logged on yesterday absolutely everything was Red and I was 'outnumbered' possibly being the only player from my faction. This didn't stop groups of opponents ambushing me while I was trying to kill a guard. I think the concept of WvW is really good but I do have some doubts about its implementation and design as ideally WvW should reward strategy and tactics rather than being a meta sized PvP. It also seems perverse that if one team has say 30 in their group and the other 10 then rewarding the 30 group for 10 kills is overly generous and if the maps remain so unbalanced a lot of people are going to get turned off playing especially when the dominant faction seem to have day and night shifts.
