I'm not dodging anything. The fact that you and I disagree on what a basic transportation function is, is not worth my time to address. Just like obtaining the skyscale. I'll buy it when they put it on the gem store though.

The problem of rewards ruining mmos. If you want to play a game you should be playing the game because you enjoy it. The game shouldn't need to bribe you to play parts of it.

There really isn't. If you didn't want the reward you wouldn't be doing the gameplay unless you liked whatever it is you are doing. If you want to go ahead and say everyone should like doing the things you like doing then that's fine I guess. But don't act like not liking the same gameplay as you and not wanting things that are now for all intents and purposes basic forms of travel, behind those kinds of gameplay is asking for a hand out.

So let's get rid of rewards if the gameplay is enough, give everyone everything. Since you're only doing it for the gameplay itself you shouldn't need a reward to get you to do things, the enjoyment of gameplay should be enough. Now we will have people playing the things they actaully paid to play without time sinks put in place to artificially inflate engagement/playtime.

Wrong place for that kind of talk. The forums are full of people who are of the opinion 80 boosts shouldn't even be available, gearing as a new player after 80 is trivial and not esoteric at all, and it is perfectly acceptable to have this many currencies/materials in game. Also even though you dislike walking around open world picking up hearts to level, just enjoy the fun along the way, even though its totally the opposite of the thing you want to do. Twitch or youtube would be more likely to agree with you though, and last I check way more people are of the opposite opinion there.

Already have. I would buy a race change for the character in that slot as well if available. Probably more than once. I like to mix things up.

Because it is something you actually want to do. If you want to do something you don't need a reward to go and do it. Rewards are just a way of getting players to do things they don't like. Games are about doing the things you enjoy. Rewards in mmos have ruined them. Everything is about getting everyone to do a little bit of everything. Not everyone has to do everything that's okay. There is no need to try and bribe people with rewards. Let people do the things they would do even if there was no reward. It is about the journey and not the destination after all. So give the proper tools from the start, at least when selling people the item that is supposed to do exactly just that. Maybe even a compromise would be reworking the celestial gear given from 80 boosts into a stat selectable set. Pick your build before leaving silverwastes and if you change your mind "earn" the rest. To be clear im saying you only select the stats once, I'm not asking for the boosts to hand out legendaries/ascendeds.

If we are gonna get passive aggressive about simple disagreements on what types of gameplay each other like, then I just request the mods close the thread. Next time just be aggressive, I can take it. Does nothing to progress dialogue though.

Correct, and that is why I have not mentioned legendary gear as an issue regarding how difficult it is to get them. It should be. Exotics are the (in my opinion) start point from 80 to getting those legendary items. This is one reason I consider them to be bare minimum. You have your rares and masterworks as well, those are so obsolete and obviously intended as stepping stone gear on the way to 80. Once you are 80 your start point is stat selectable exotic gear. More, and clearer accessibility to these would go a long way in getting people to maybe feel the urge to go out and get those legendary items and doing other forms of content instead of just leaving.

Exactly my point. You find it worth the effort. I am happy you are able to do that and get some enjoyment out of it. Others do not and then simply leave. You may be okay with just writing them off and saying the game is not for them. That's your prerogative, but regardless of what you think of me or my opinions, I like this game. I want to see more people playing and less people quitting out of frustration, or forcing themselves to do things they loathe. That type of mentality is not for everyone. Options are a good thing to have.

I like many things about it. Different things than you may like, but that doesn't make them any less valid. I never asked for anything to be handed to me. I asked that there be more sources of said things. I never said there was no way to get them, simply that there should be more ways, for players of all types. This lift yourself up by your bootstraps mentality really has done harm to society. It is ok to recognize that things are not equitable when it comes to the different game modes/playstyles/mindsets. It is very uncharitable and bad faith to simply write off someone as asking for a welfare handout when all they are doing is asking for more ways to include everyone in the ability to min max if they do choose to do so. You may like to make yourself do things that you don't like and be okay with that. I commend you for it. You are not everyone though, and when things reach the point that videos about this exact gearing problem are getting millions of views and comments in agreement. Entire groups and guilds set up just to help alleviate some of this busy work and get people into the enjoyable part. There is clearly agreement from many people on this. People buy things for different reasons, it is okay to not like some parts of the game, but just because you don't like one part of the game doesn't mean others didn't buy the game specifically for that part themselves. Why is it that those who always accuse people of asking for handouts seem so obsessed with, well only themselves it seems. I never said they were the only things that mattered in game. I said those are the only things that I and many others play the game for. Weather or not you think that makes the game for us or not is irrelevant because I am sure Anet would like the game to be for as many people as possible. Not really a good business practice to just toss customers out the airlock for not liking small details of a product.

Oh no, its the right place. I don't look at this as just a problem that I'm facing but something alot of new players struggle with. Weather or not I like the alternatives I think it is good for other people who did not know about them before seeing this post to see the options out there provided by you all. I'm not only thinking of myself here.

That is what I am currently doing. You also get access to message boards to make suggestions and voice opinions on things you find inadequate, just dont like, or want improved. One can make use of both of those things, the celestial gear and the forum, in hopes of maybe changing things for the better, the same way things were changed for the better when they got rid of soldier's.

Think of the gear as a set of legos or building blocks. The fun is in putting them together to see what new things you can make that no one has ever thought of or seen before. The busy work in between is mindnumbing to me. But I don't fault any one else for enjoying said things.

I enjoy min maxing. That is my fun. It might not be for others. It is for me, and many others. It is fine if one cannot understand it. Different opinions are still valid nonetheless. I am under no illusions or assumptions that having full exotic or even legendary/ascended will instantly make me a god at the game it isn't like that at all. And to simplify my words as such are just a mischaracterization or ingenuine attempt at winning some sort of debate someone thinks is being had.

And they get dumpstered all the time by people in full gear setup. As they should of course. I understand this but I think it was more or less just meant to belittle me and imply that I have 0 knowledge of the game and its mechanics which is just not true. Though I have a different opinion about some things there is no need to make things personal. Point me to the post that someone said that in. I will wait. Just because casuals can get by farming hearts in their non exotic gear and find that enjoyable, does not mean that full exotic is not at least considered the starting point for gear at 80 in WvW. If you don't believe that to be true then you are in the minority. Every guide for WvW calls for at least full exotic for a reason. Don't hide behind the fact there are worse options out there. Sure I could clean my whole apartment floor with a tooth brush instead of a mop that doesn't make a challenge it makes things take longer and makes the process unenjoyable because I'm working with crap tools. 80 boosts are meant to get you past the part of the game that some people consider to be crap, weather you like it that they consider some things crap is irrelevant. That is why they are in the store and that is why they sell.
