I don't get this at all... that the customers feels the need to feed into Anets bias like this... mind numbing deluxe!

It's already bad that we have to put up with a balance team that is so obviously full of bias that they are way past unprofessional at this point.

Mirage is the perfect example of Anet's unprofessionalism, and I think they know this themselves, hence why their bias grows even more against Mirage and Mesmer as a whole. They just plainly refuse to give this class the proper attention it needs, and they never have any explanation to why they do so, even if we Mesmer mainers have been asking for this for years now!

Dont feed into Anets bully behaviour, work against it and show them actively as a customer that you are against this kind of behaviour! You dont know if your class will be the next one they just start to hate from nowhere, and you're the one who's stuck with never ending nerfs that makes zero sense.

    Im just explaining the reality.

I mean the second dodge nerf started when people got but hurt that they where being destroyed by good Mirage players mainly the Devs themselves.

Its almost like Mirage got a timeout for 3 years so the toxic players could leave the game. I highly doubt any of us will return to Mirage since we have nostalgic bias towards the past.

We're going to be quoted of being a very ungrateful community in the future, and this will be used as an example each time Mesmers need any balancing that we're not going to get because of this. You know that right?

I mean, "we got what we asked for and are now complaining" right?

I can see it now... More nerfs because "we deserve it" will be the MO from now on.

    Sad.

Not everyone is playing Mesmer so if the other professions perceive we are OP then we will get a nerf. Not everyone wants to play a game where they find something unfair.

The Mantra changes are a perfect example of a nerf that was unfair but well justified since there was really no counter to people instantly casting dazes, even if it was pretty bad from the Mesmer perspective. Mirage dodging is the pretty much the same case.

Unfortunately, that option is VERY problematic. While it's better for an AoE skill in an ideal situation with only 1 target or grouped mobs, it forces you to use that skill on the targeted enemy (within range).
So let's say you're currently targeting an enemy and select that skill, but it's not the enemy you want to use it on, or it's not in right location you want. The only way to change its location at that point is to keep pressing Tab until you've locked onto a target you DO want, or to press escape to cancel the skill selection. You also can't click anywhere with your mouse once you've selected a ground-target skill, because it'll still activate the skill on the targeted enemy's location.

This option also negatively effects skills with mobility involved - such as Daredevil staff 5 (Vault). Instead of being able to select the exact spot I want to move my character to (which also deals damage), it'll automatically lock it onto my target instead.

So you still have to press the skill twice (or mouse click) for it to activate, but now have to make sure you're locked onto the right target you want to use it on, or get screwed if you happen to have a skill that involves mobility. You're basically trading freedom of placement for more headaches.

Daredevil Staff 5: I need the freedom of placement and precision that a ground target skill provides as this is a mobility-based DPS skill.
Virtuoso Dagger 3: Pressing the skill once and knowing it'll travel right in front of me no matter where I am (or what I'm targeting) -  doing damage along the way without causing any interruption to the flow of combat - is greatly preferred.

You know you can bind a toggle for this.

I often use a toggle for auto locking on ranged professions then no-locking for movement abilities so it's same principle

u may wanna test urself before tell others. im pretty certain u wrong here again

You are correct I just looked but the use case would just be with Untamed and any beast skill that has a CC.

You have to remember it will interrupt the resurrection so it's not always the best idea to cast them when you are down.

Anyway I it will not change so atleast I learned something new out of the discussion after 10 years of playing Gw2.

You can already see Ranger mains storming here to defend it.
Meanwhile Elementalist downed state is like drunk uncle on wedding, if he falls on the floor, he can get up, make some fancy dance moves and he goes back on the floor to sleep.
One way or another, don't expect A-net to fix it or even balance downed states between classes, it's not gonna happen.

They have been in game since launch so I doupt anything will change. Most of the complaints about the downstates date back to launch and nothing has changed.

those in fact are not part of downsate u know? and yes u can control ur pet skills while down. i definitely remember casting fear with wolf

I was wrong you can still cast the skills, I never really needed to since I always cast all the pets skills when I went down. I never knew you could pet swap though.

ehmmm traps is also a ranger mechanic

pet can interrupt fear daze and attack what would u choose if those or 1  push back

ranger can also interrupt even pet can cast immobilize

The pet skills are random, based purely on there cooldowns. Traps are also condition based so not very bursty, rather the power traps DH has are much better.

why even defend a clear advantage?

guardian elite downstate also need time to activate.

ranger get even extra downstate skills via pet.

also its absolutely cut and dry if 100% of the time downstate of ranger wins vs other classes

warriors is also to strong btw.

why should downstate balance not be balanced as well?

so we keep a advantage bcs reasons?

What happens if you have 10+ burn stacks or sit in a trap when you go down. The guardian push can also interrupt the pet resurrection so it is possible to prevent it long enough for someone to help.

so lets say guardian and ranger fight both go down same time.

wanna bet with me who win now?

or is that a l2p issue on guards side?

Its not always cut and dry it takes 10 seconds for lick wounds to be castable so if he bursts you in time you will die.

I don't really see anyone talking about the pre-cooldown, it's not listed on the wiki

  10. You guys realise you can just stomp or cleave the downed Ranger 😑

Why is the pet resurrection so OP?

In gold or plat it is essentially just a plus one on your own or assisted resurrection. It's not that op.

    • Confused 2
  11. Lol Ranger downstate is far from being OP. You essentially have to kill the pet once they push 3, that is about it.

You can also infinitly keep them from dying which could be looked at as an exploit of the pet resurrect.

The reality is the Ranger downstate has almost no damage unlike some classes who can get a massive damage boost when going down, Thief/Mesmer for example. It's also incredibly easy to prevent there stun while other professions like Necro and Guardian have a much better CC.

Not only can you dodge, block, interrupt, etc the skill when they first cast it, but you can also run away and dodge 3 times while in moa form. I almost never die in moa form.

Pretty much my experience, if you do get bursted down they are normally a wet noodle afterwords and die to almost any counter pressure.

  13. Meh honestly there is no way to make the pet any stronger without tones of people complaining that either they got killed by a pet in PvP or its a lazy afk class in PvE (Mechanist was a good test case).

The best you can hope for is just more/better pets or reworks and then just having more controls. Some more keybinds for them would help.

The pet is also not to hard to control, its just frustrating.

  14. I am having a break but I think it is still possible to do Alacrity Mirage but you will have to run the traited Signet of Inspiration.

The other thing that people forget is that you need the clones to complete the animation for you to get alacrity so if you interrupt it in any way it won't work.

  15. I would say copy the Power Chronomancer build and just swap out Chronomancer with Mirage traitline.

Honestly though I find Virtuoso better at tagging.

actually you should have both : druid if your comander has a firebrand to spare on you, stance share if you're put in the "no stab group".

Also, please note that SHSB/immobeast was a niche dps build up until some months ago. Now, it's just a sub-par herald, itself falling from grace slowly due to vindicators

If you compare classes of course Rangers will fall short in some places but if you really want to play one class in WvW you only have a few options.

The power of Ranger is build switching, even in a Zerg you can easily change to siege mode and start Longbow barraging people.

No other class can really claim be a good Roamer and a good Zerger. There are better options for sure but not both at a same time.

Engineer and Revenant throw a massive wrench into the innards of that plan, because as much as I'd want them to, I do not see ANet releasing an entire new Legend and whatever the hell many skills Engineer is missing, without it being a "big release". And at that point, weapon + Legend is70% of an e-spec already...

Not saying impossible, but... feels awkward, man.

I don't think it would be that hard to add an extra skill or two to each Legend. That would really help diversify all the different Revenants.

Engineer has almost nothing missing from the core skills, just Gadget ultimate (a high damage one would be amazing). Another weapon on the other hand especially a good power offhand would really help.

  18. We will probably get one more core weapon for each class and we will get the missing core utilities.

I would also like to see all elite specialisation weapons available for other elite/core with there mechanic removed. Vice versa they should add mechanics to all weapons that get modified by the elite specialisation you pick.

I mean we already have ambushes all weapons for the classes that have that mechanic why can't Heat (Holo smith) be on every weapon. Even something like the Chronomancer Grandmaster applying to Sword or Focus 5 skills. Chronophantasma technically does so why not the support Grandmasters.

Here it is just over a year later and things haven't improved for Rangers. I tried the Untamed build and it worked for about 2 weeks. My kill rate went up and I survived more. Then back to normal. Lucky to survive a 1v1 fight. Part of that is probably that I'm on the worst server and we have no strong guilds, so we don't have boons stretching across the screen. I've tried 6 builds so far and still not having much luck. I must be the worst player ever. Other posts are claiming we should be able to adjust our build at a moment's notice for the situation. I'm lucky to remember which attacks and in what order for the build I have. I guess as long as two server groups are happy and the participation has gone up for them, Anet is happy with the changes they've made. I think I'm about done with WvW.

You want roughly 3 Rangers builds. Something for Zerg stacking, either Druid or Stance Soulbeast.

You then want a skirmish builds for sieging and defending. Quick draw + Duel Longbow is the best, but you could also do Longbow + Greatsword, any Elite is fine here but I prefer Soulbeast with Untamed a close second.

Finally Roaming, this is best served with Untamed since it can deal with any situation but a duel mobility pet Soulbeast can also work.

Roaming is not a thing: Mounts and the proliferation of superspeed and high mobility elites has forced the roaming to almost disappear. Most of what is left are perma-stealth thieves and condi mirages.  Maybe some malix revenants some pewpews in the sidelines.

Zerging is what happens when a game developer increases the movement speed. And StanceShare does not work in zerging.

I have yet to see a video where the  pitiful immobeast build  can actually land a hit that is not the pull or the elite (no-reflectable AoEs) .  Ranger is not a thing in WvW aside from +1 roaming, it doesn't matter  how hard some are trying to push some random build into zerging. Even in organized guild runs they do not like to include the immobeast as any other class can do much better without the risk of killing allies because the reflects.

The complete opposite is true since you can dismount other people with your mount you no longer need stealth to roam effectively. Hand down my sPvP Untamed build can out duel most other professions, except maybe very high burst classes.
