  1. Hi all, I know what unranked stands for, but is there no hidden ELO or MMR or whatever you call it to categorize players into at least similar abilities? Or maybe I was just given incredibly terrible matchups, because the enemies all felt like plat 2's and 1's, I'm gold1-plat3 and I had teammates who looked like they are playing for the first time ever? I've always played ranked for the last years, does it mean when there is no 5v5 season the 5v5 gamemode is pretty much dead?
  2. I started learning the reaper, and I knew I would be targeted in team fights, especially in the beginning where both teams line up against each other on the middle node in stealth, waiting for an opener just to be in the middle of a big clusterduck. Up until now, I haven't had to play a DPS class which is in focus in many cases, so now I'm facing the problem of being deleted in the first fight, getting stunned and blinded repeatedly, and I can't even land a single skill before I'm dead, throwing the game in favor of the enemy team. I tried staying between the two nodes, use a wurm to TP, but not so much later quickness scrappers, willbenders, mesmers, tempests would still chase my slow character down and kill me. So what should I do in this situation?
  3. Thanks all, you are being so helpful and insightful. I'm definitely doing steps toward using all that you've said and it works out for me so far.
  4. Hi all, I play pvp and sometimes watch others playing it. I'm usually in Gold 1 and I still don't understand some notions about PvP. I'll just number them so they are easier to reflect on: 1. Who should you focus on in a teamfight? The necromancer, the healer, the revenant, someone else? Is there an order of things? Fights are usually so complex and clustered that I can't see what's going on, where is damage being dealt and so on. Sometimes I somewhat arbitrarily choose someone I find to be more vulnerable than others, and we jump on them. 2. What are some general counters to each specialization? It's hard to decipher sometimes if I'm winning/losing trades based on skills only or by simply one profession build countering the other. 3. In some situations the other team has just better team composition and wins teamfights while lacking power over map control. How do people recognize this during the game? For example, we lost 3 big teamfights in a row in a match, so I told my teammates to pressure the sides and avoid big confrontations, and another player told me that I'm completely wrong and we should be focusing on teamfights cuz our comp is better at it, so we did and we won. I don't understand why.
  5. Unfortunately my character is already level 80 and it doesn't get any gear from the booster.
  6. Hi guys, I am looking for your subjective opinions on what healer and support classes you find fun, engaging, interesting, and also the opposite. My guild needs more people to play support classes, so I was thinking about starting my first healer for challenging content. I heard tempest healers are simple to play and the overloads feel clunky. So what do you guys think?
  7. Sorry for not replying sooner. I didn't forget your comment. The FPS limiter didn't bring change, but I'll leave it on. I didn't notice it's set to unlimited. It might be useful to gain a few FPS in certain scenarios later. I think I should definitely upgrade to an SSD. Thank you for the help.
  8. Let's create a ranking considering all professions and specializations.
  9. Intel i3-6100, Geforce GTX 950, 8GB RAM, mechanical hard drive, no programs in the background except ones that would go anyways My graphics settings: https://imgur.com/a/LXe004Z
  10. When playing PvP or WvW, I need to wait some time before players or objects/terrain load. It's frustrating, especially in PvP where I miss the first big fight because I see only nametags circling around and me losing my HP. Why don't players and objects load faster?
  11. What's the most fun raid/fractal build you have played?
  12. My philosophy for GW2 is this: if you have a suboptimal build or a build that is not considered to be meta, but you have been enjoying it the most, then it's much better than playing meta builds you dislike. Since I'm playing with a build that I find enjoyable, I invest way more hours to get good at it, and just because of skill and experience I produce better results overall. I remember the discussion about the problem of balancing in GW2 that during an open world metaevent the best players would have ten times the damage output compared to an average player. The skill floor is huge in this game in contrast with other MMOs where gear plays a more important role. Except for the very endgame aspect of GW2 (speedrunning hardest boss CMs and winning pvp tournaments) everything can be slain or everyone can be defeated. There is so much more to winning a fight than having the best build for a specific encounter. In WvW roaming for example many pro players have been defeating less skilled players with suboptimal and/or troll builds, which also proves builds are of secondary to skill. What do you guys think?
  13. Hi, Question is given. I would like to play duo with my partner in WvW, fun around, mess things up, cap camps, etc. What are the best duo combinations for roaming right now?
  14. Hi all, I am looking for great class combos for two people to tackle open world content, especially EoD. I am going to play with my brother, and we would like to go through challenging content without needing others. Are there classes which have a great synergy in open world? I mean they complement each other with boons, heal and other supportive skills, plus they do enough damage to take down champions for example. Extra good if these duos can also take up on dungeon paths together.
  15. I have a lot of spirit shards, laurels, karma and other currencies on me. I read that I should keep them for legendaries but I don’t feel they are worth the hassle. I also read that once you dump these currencies from your wallet they will be difficult to get, so should I turn them into liquid gold, or should I use them for something else? I am a little confused here and maybe worried that I would regret using them to get gold if I’ll ever need them in the future.
  16. TENGUUUUUUUUUUUUU *hope increases yet again* But actually, I am very happy to hear that my favorite game will continue to grow! ❤️ (Living World Season 1 yes please thank you)
  17. The combat system. GW2 has set the bar so high that other combat systems feel like a lackluster now.
  18. I want to change my male sylvari's look with a total makeover kit. I've been trying many variations, searched for posts and pictures online, but I still can't seem to find a solution that is perfect for my taste. Can you give me some inspiration?
  19. Is the Snowflake Gobbler Pack unavailable in the gemstore? I can't find it. According to wiki it's still being sold: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Snowflake_Gobbler_Pack
  20. I don't know why I am getting so much hate here. I was with my friend, we were not a group of friends. The other players were rushing us, and they were asking: "are you guys new?" then the person who left did so because he was annoyed how slow we are. I was telling other players to wait so that my friend could sell his items between two paths. It was just a horrible experience for him.
  21. Hi all, Today was the first time I ventured with a friend of mine (new player) into Ascalonian Catacombs. Three of us from the group were high level high skilled players who have been around for a while, and therefore we just blasted through the story mode. I switched to my weakest alt and one guy was swapped with a newer player, but the paths went very fast. My friend had a terrible dungeon experience because of this. He was lvl 36, and he sometimes couldn't even keep up with our train and was lagging behind all the time. Sometimes he missed encounters and had trouble looting and coming after us. He only has a couple of small bags (with 8 slots) and he had to clean it all the time. He didn't get much from the runs, and sometimes he had to leave the loot in the dungeon. He told me everything was just rushed and he didn't have a good time but left with a bitter feeling. I also know someone who made a post about this problem in one of the GW2 Facebook fan groups. Is this a problem that others experience as well? Is there something Anet is planning to do against this?
