why didn't kralkatorrik just fly over Divinitys reach, lions arch, the grove etc and be done with it?

Why would he want to fly over those places of absolutely no concern of him? The purpose is to consume the magic, not brand arbitrary places. Also notice that in general EDs tend to not move without the need to do it. Kralk movement after awakening was to go after champion that betrayed him, Zhaitan never left Orr, and only engaged pact airships when left no other option, primordus have moved to position himself in better place to consume magic leftovers from zhaitan death, after PoF Kralk has moved deeper into elona to a more secure place to recover from Balthazar fight, and then moved into the mists to actively consume them.

That being said Mordremoth tendrils did go after waypoints all around tyria - primarily because their magical emissions were attracting said tendrils.

why didnt the other elder dragons just send in barrages of their own dragon minions like the shatter or the claw of jormag, like mordermoth did, sending in its plant dragon to desimate tyria and consume the magic?

Zhaitan was very aggressive in sending out his risen to attack living, find, and collect magical artifacts. Primordus and Jormag also were sending out their minions to attack, former forcing underground races to the surface, latter forcing north dwellers south. Soo-won didn't send out minions to attack apparently, but something in the deep awakened after her departure, that forced some of the deep sea dweller closer to the shores. Kralkatorrik would be the main anomaly here that despite creating brand and branded, after initial outburst of fresh branded, they mostly focused on patrolling the brand instead of outward expansion.

On an important note: prior to Balthazar's death, none of ED had means of mist travel, so their minions were limited by where they could physically get to. Destroyers had to traverse depths of tyria to the surface, icebrood had to get north, etc.

It would probably take a lot of effort to alter the GW2 engine in order to make that happen. I doubt we will see this happen. Maybe in the next game.

Not really, it could already be done to some degree with guild hall tech, the question is if there is enough variety of "decorations" to put up our walls etc. with secondary issue of decoration limits.

Someone mentioned ESO housing system as example of prefabs, but it has a number of houses that are just flat-ish terrain, with a number of "structural" furnishings to let players build their whole thing themselves... the only caveat is that even for full prefabs the limits for furnishings are tight to get whole place properly decorated, not to mention if you are now using half the slots just for the building structure.....

The primary difference between ESO furnishing tech and guild hall decoration tech, is that ESO allows rotation in all 3 axis instead of just the vertical one.

Agreed, though if they wanted to hand me Vision, I won't say no (I completed the collection 6 months ago but spent all my mystic coins on clovers for Obsidian armor)

I source my clovers from wvw and WV, and not spend my coins on them. That being said I have set back my aurora number of times by seling my stash of mystic coins for gold to convert to gems to get something from the gem store.....

  4. 12 years in and we still have people claiming rangers are range class because of the name, and people correcting that premise. I guess some things never change.

I just don't think the devs give it much attention when making design or balance decisions.

It is very widely popular opinion among wvw crowd, that AN is balancing the mode with zergfights in mind primarily, if not only. But people always have complained how X class is ruining roaming, and the only thing I ever noticed changing is which class is being complained this time around. Cannot comment on how Willbenders affect the scene, I am yet to run into one outside of beta event.

It seems WVW is primarily balanced for resource management and flipping objectives. It's really being exposed with the nerfs to defensive strategies.

My suspicion is that they intend their balancing for spvp to cover roaming or  small groups. So I kind of doubt they tend to it specifically. Which doesn't always feel appropriate.

Roaming parties were always a thing in wvw, there is not always a point of having whole zerg flipping camps or towers, when it could be besieging keep, or keeping enemy zerg occupied. There is also a middle ground of a havoc group - not quite zerg yet, but enough to flip an undefended keep on their own in sensible timespan.

I think they said that the flipover skills will share cooldowns with the skills that they replace, not with the other stealth-enabled flipover skills. So more access to stealth sure sounds like it will just allow us to hit more of those flipover skills.

And technically, one of the flipover skills is the one that provides stealth. How are we supposed to activate that one at all, if we don't bring an additional source of stealth?

Yes technically more sources of stealth means more chances to use ambush skills, but using ambush skill applies revealed, so I am unsure about feasibility of not using normal 2-4 skills at all during these revealed periods.

The point you were making is Rangers should have guns because they're "Rangers" (relationship: Ranger/Ranged).  Clearly.

If this is not what you meant, then what in the heck did you mean by this?  It's pretty clear lmao

One does not have to take the name ranger to imply range, to find class balancing to be unhealthily melee-centric. There are a lot of non-ranger classes that also have people raising similar complain.

And while it is true that, let's say warrior has it worse, it does not mean that rangers are in a good spot either.

Not always. The "boss fight" music seems to be randomized. I've had the Eye of Zhaitan with "The Crystal Dragon" as the soundtrack, or the Vinetooth with...whatever Tequatl's music is called, momentarily forgot the name. It's different for every boss, so you might wind up with a "fitting" soundtrack for that boss (i.e. Branded Hydra with "Assault on Amnoon" from LWS4 when Branded attack Amnoon, or Eye of Zhaitan with "Here Be Dragons" from the Zhaitan boss fight), or not.

Interesting, I may have too small sample size then, because so far I was getting mordremoth battle music for vinewrath, zhaitan for eye of zhaitan, and the only one that struck me as mismatched was saltspray.

The blog also seems to imply, that each skill will have some condition to meet to get's it's illuminated version regardless of the combos like the Helios hitting enemy or the symbol. Like those combos are alternative to primary "positioning" requirement?

I have re-read the blogpost couple more times, and I come here to correct myself since I grossly misread it on original read. Each skill has a special condition that when fulfilled grants illuminated status to the next skill.

They are there so the forum does not get flooded with 100 similar posts saying "+1" or "me too", or "love this".

According to this logic we should have a proper downvote to avoid forums being flooded with hundreds of "-1", "it's stupid" or "hate this".

Actually a proper downvote emote would also help distinguish between people expressing genuine confusion from ones flat out finding it extremely disagreeable.

Yes, absolutely, but it's worth mentioning that in order to unlock those masteries, you have to go through the process of getting both skyscales. It's a long haul, particularly for the Season 4 skyscale..

Only if you start with soto version of it. If you start with season 4 skyscale (which gets considerably shorter with "return to..." achievements) you can completely omitt "new friend" collection and get both masteries leveled (new friend even requires you to level soto mastery).

yeah this is a big one that i heard from a lot of ppl. i would love to know fi they would ever bring it back at it's fully capacity or if it having been broken into pieces has forever damaged it?

One interesting bit, is that it is not even clear, if Eir did take the shattered Magdaer from the Catacombs. She went there to retrieve it, Rytlock with players help her out (mostly because it stirred trouble to the surface), but when Rytlock has learned of Eir's goal, he gave her angry temper over that, Eir runs out, and the next we hear of her, she goes to gloriously die on the honor of the waves - kodan sanctuary overrun with jormag's minions. During that dungeon players manages to get Eir to snap back into trying to mend the Destiny's Edge back together, but the topic of the sword was never again mentioned.

Helldivers is only available if you have a PlayStation Network account, even the steam version.  Sony got greedy and restricted access after Helldivers became popular.  There is a list of ineligible countries like 176 who lost access to the game on steam because of the PSN requirement.
At least we know Anet isn't going to do such a thing.

Helldivers are possible to play without PlayStation Network account on steam. There are countries where PSN is unavailable that steam got restricted from selling to, but the requirement of PSN linking was backed out of.

Additionally, game was built and designed around PSN accounts being linked even for steam, it was noted on the steam page, and was something developers were keenly aware. But the linking system died on day 1 and CEO made decision on his own to "just let people play". It wasn't Sony getting greedy after Helldivers became popular, but rather Sony expecting Arrowhead to fulfill their neglected contractual obligations. Game being sold to PSN ineligible countries in the first place was huge oversight and screw-up on Sony part, but those that bought it (and didn't ask for refund) can still play it.

As for AN pulling similar things, there was that time, when NCSoft was trying to do single NCSoft account for all NCSoft games, and their had so hilarious security of those accounts, that GW1 - which had it forced upon them - had to specifically implement additional security features to stop people's accounts from being stolen to glitches (specifically requirement to put in a name of any character when logging in)

  15. Personally I think that rifle should be fixed instead of introducing new weapon to serve same role.

I could see warrior spear as a ranged-melee hybrid weapon similar to the rangers, regardless if power or condi.

what state would you consider Everquest 1 to be in? You consider it still in its prime? I need to know to understand your comparison of what Maintenance mode means.

I have no knowledge on state of Everquest 1 development state to answer that question. But to understand my meaning all you need to do is to take a look at patch history of the two games I named.

  17. If it is for OW, then I think Lord Hyzen had dagger mirage that he dubbed "better virtuoso". Would also fit neatly with OP habits of relying on clones, and from what I remember from that particular vieo, it didn't require too much clicks to work.
