  1. Hampering ranger's overall ability to deal with any of the myriad CC available in this game is 100% intentional on their part.  I'm convinced they simply see ranger as a long-range sniping class alone when balancing most of its traits and skills, and thus try to minimize opportunities for escape.  They also probably think this is needed to make certain mace builds less aggressive.  I don't like it, but I'm not surprised anymore at their desire to make ranger ineffective in pvp.

it's not a take. it's just the facts. it doesn't matter what you think about spvp. no one is playing it, (like seriously NA has less plat players than the average WvW guild has members) so it's not a good use of development time.

it's the same issue the raid community has. most players don't like raids, and don't want to do the content. so anet stopped making raids, because investing their super limited development resources on content the average player won't even touch.

the appeal of GW2 is massive open world events, and massive castle sieges. this is a large scale casual game. that's not a take. that's the truth.

you can pretend it's a competitive esport, or a hardcore raiding game, or even a high octane beetle racing game, but that's just copium and you will always be disappointed by the content that's released.

Nah, I'll pass on your take (because that's what it is).  Let anet make a new map or two, adjust matchmaking, remove duo queue and add some new exclusive rewards to sPvP and we'll see how low the population would be.  Players left the mode because it's stagnant, not because "GW2 is massive open world events, and massive castle sieges".  Open world has always been there and no one begrudges the work they've done for that style of play.  The people that still play PvP do so because they know there is nothing else like it in the market, and you're lying to yourself if you think otherwise.  I couldn't care less about what PvE content is in the game or what the majority likes... that's never been an excuse.  Stop shifting the blame over to irrelevant things... this lies squarely on anet's poor decision-making.

Josh Davis said the most played mode is open world PvE, and the next biggest mode is WvW.

spvp, raids, strikes, beetle racing etc, these are all basically ants compared to OW PvE and WvW. they are basically not even worth making content for because hardly anyone even plays them.

So tired of this take... sPvP is an integral part of the game and merits attention from its developer, full stop.  These excuses are why devs feel they can get away with this kind of thing (although anet's handling of spvp is unlike anything I've seen before).  It is such a shame that this mode has barely gotten any actual work done to it as a whole for so long.

  4. I blame his boss, who just so happens to have been a huge part of the effort to make sPvP popular from the start.  If anyone is aware of balancing in general and its effects on any game mode (particularly pvp), it's Grouch.  Now as Game Director, how he can look at the state of balancing in GW2 today and think it's ok is beyond me, but this is where we're at.  There's no way CMC gets to do whatever he wants in this game without oversight from Grouch and other higher-ups.  These are the people responsible for the game's deteriorating balance.

How can you even think that is how it should be?

    A) Lowest graphical setting is for performance increase mount skins and armor standarized character model but we allow backpiece be a thing. Its more of an overlooked option so it fully does its purpose.

    B) By your logic at the moment, all armor skins & mount skins are nil. People who grinded for their armor skins/legendary aswell.  This is with the currently what is available right now in the settings.

Im not sure how far in you are into the game. But I have legendary trinkets, medium and heavy armor sets done, that gear is not nil for me and I always other skins on it. I use that option not for Performance save but I don't want those splurge of pixels all over my screen when doing competitive content PvE or PvP wise. You obviously haven't had Jumping puzzle experiences.

If you buy your items because ' players get to show them off as part of their overall appearance thus forcing others to see that splurge and not for yourself' Idk you should revaluate.

It's just a game... not really that important in the grand scheme.  But if you think people aren't buying cosmetic items to be able to show them off, then Idk you should be less naïve.  This is human nature and something game developers exploit consistently.

At that point don't allow lowest character setting affect armor, gliders, mount skins.  I accept people will wear what they want but I sure dont see why it should be forced on others.

I understand the GEMSTORE is how alot of the revenue comes from for GW2. However, Me included I buy my gemstore vanity items for myself. This is someone who has spent well over 1k USD the first year.

Pvp also has a competitive option which also make all classes and races standardized models. Which do NOT include the backpack.

The option to disable your own back item is the most you'll get, and that's how it should be.  Part of the value of "vanity" items is that players get to show them off as part of their overall appearance.  That value is brought to nil if you are the only person that will see your custom look.  PvP players couldn't care less about appearance, and standardized models are an option for a better competitive experience... it has nothing to do with turning off peoples' flashy back items.

  7. Seems like this is the way they deal with "powerful" ranger traits now... make it unnecessarily difficult to perform and sustain.  See "Let Loose" for another example.  I can just imagine the rage some druids are going to see for not playing with alacrity as a priority.

  8. You're not alone there.  I have EoD since launch and have yet to get past the starting area lol.  It all just seems so mundane compared to the previous expansions.  Feels like it was designed to create busywork for players and not nearly as much effort was put into the environment/story as before (from what I've seen).  I'm going to try to force myself through it sometime soon, but not looking forward to it.

Let Loose: This trait replaces Fervent Force. Grant boons to nearby allies when you use an unleashed ambush skill. Recharge your unleashed ambush skill when you swap weapons.

In-game tooltip says Unleashed Power is refreshed when you swap weapons.  Which is it, Unleashed Ambush or Unleashed Power?  I get that ambush is included in Unleashed Power, but the implication is that this trait only refreshes unleashed pet skills (which also isn't happening).  Unleashed Ambush is not refreshing for me on weapon swap.  Anyone else seeing this?

Edit: meant to post in ranger forum... could a mod pls move this?
Edit: Turns out it works... I was testing it outside of combat.  Please move or delete if needed.

  10. I feel like this trait's impact is being severely exaggerated... something people seem all to eager to do whenever ranger has something good.  Where exactly is Fervent Force defining any meta right now?  Is it dominating in PvP or WvW?  Am I missing all the calls for FF Untamed in instanced content?  Where are all the complaints coming from pointing to a 2 sec cooldown reduction being overbearing on the forums?

Meanwhile, we have other specs that are and have been decimating rangers in every way since launch, but oh boy that Fervent Force!  Traits that rangers can only dream of having are seen as commonplace with other classes, but here we are telling anet how much lube we'll need before they change this trait.  How about they just let us have this rare nice thing that can maybe remind people rangers are a threat?
