  1. Yeah, a whole Teq map was having constant DCs. Kicked 4 times in under 10 minutes. Expect a flood of tickets.
  2. Other than voice and hair (and I'm not sure why those even,) I don't know how you'd tell an Asura was male or female. At least within the confines of a family friendly video game. They don't seem to be mammals, or have a mammalian body type (such as what the Sylvary mimicked.) So they should probably be able to wear whatever they like.
  3. Solution: Mounts -in- bikinis! Speedo Raptor! Thong Jackal! Burkini Bunny!
  4. Networking for low latency into Amazon's cloud can be a bit of a dark art*. That said, I am curious what, if any, back-end requirement lead them to consolidate in one region. One of the big marketing points for AWS (the Amazon cloud) is global presence. They could have spun up servers in N. Virginia, Oregon, and even Sydney or Singapore theoretically. Hopefully they work out whatever it is that keeps them locked to a region, and then they can toss at least a server or two into the far corners for people not on the Eastern seaboard. *(I say this in a semi-professional capacity, since I work on AWS setups for my day job and hold the AWS networking certification, so my statements aren't purely ex-recto.)
  5. Just memtested my box to be sure, came up clean. So beware, you might have found a problem, but I suspect more lurk in the shadows, and not all are user serviceable.
  6. This was my experience. I did switch to Windowed Fullscreen and my next incident was a crash though, just to save having to kill the app. Also, you can find crash logs in %appdata%\Guild Wars 2\ArenaNet.log. I have an entire 148 KB of the same crash over and over from this.
  7. Just had another crash right before Teq, running over to a banner on my mount. Since this issue started for me just after the Halloween mounts dropped, and always seems to occur when moving toward/on/around mounts, I'm fairly convinced -something- about them is the issue, but I am not sure what. Small note: I switched from Full Screen to Windows Full Screen, and instead of a freeze, I got a full frontal crash (same error as always) so that change might let some folks recover from their crashes without rebooting/jumping through Task Manager keyboard hoops. It also means I'll be flooding Anet with crash reports now.
  8. Just had the freeze again after a few weeks of peace. It seems like killing local.dat from %appdata%/Guild Wars 2 can help for a time, but sooner or later the issue creeps back in (something busted in a cached item maybe?) The headache here is having to reset graphics options each time local.dat gets nuked (why are these not in an ini file like a sane game?) So far, I've frozen once in LA at the bank checking out wardrobe skins (during Halloween so tons of characters and mounts and such,) once headed to the Claw of Jormag camp (was mounted and using the raptor jump, not so many people around though,) and tons of times at Tequatl (always when returning after battery defense, so headed into a zerg of toons and mounts.) The error in the log is always the same: Exception: c0000005 Memory at address ffffffff`ffffffff could not be read In my case the issue has persisted from one video card to another (same family, went from a GTX 1070 to a GTX 1080, updated drivers to 388.71 in the process.)
  9. I've had the same error. In my case it manifests as GW2 freezing entirely (music continues to play.) My PC is otherwise fine, pulling up Task Manager lets me nuke GW2 with no other apparent ill effects to my system. First cropped up about a month ago, and after the second time showed it wasn't a fluke (had played the game quite a bit up until then with no issue) I updated my video drivers. Thought that had done the trick, but recently it came back twice, kicking me out of a Teq attempt (costing me credit the second time.) It hasn't done it on other bosses so zergs don't seem to be a factor, and my incidents a month ago could be entirely random. It does seem to be coincidental with in game holidays, somewhat (crops up just before a holiday, not sure if something might be going on in the background or if that is just bad timing.) No Malwarebytes on my machine (only the default Win10 AV in fact.) It shouldn't be system horsepower, I'm running Win10 Pro 64 bit, on an i7-6700K (not overclocked,) with 32 GB DDR4, an NVidia GTX 1070, and GW2 running off an SSD (Crucial MX300.) Representative crash header below (it is always the same memory address for me, all f's.) --> Crash <--Exception: c0000005 Memory at address ffffffff`ffffffff could not be readApp: Gw2-64.exePid: 6360Cmdline:BaseAddr: 00007FF65B6E0000ProgramId: 101Build: 84848When: 2017-12-13T03:13:13Z 2017-12-12T22:13:13-05:00Uptime: 0 days 1:19:33Flags: 0 Edit: It looks like folks in this thread are having similar issues. There may be a few other threads of this too, not everyone seems to know where to check for errors.
  10. I did have a conditional statement in there, about whether or not the RNG skins make them sufficient profit. Also my statement has to do with moving forward. I suppose if the non-RNG skin sells well we'd see more of those, but given that it is a somewhat niche skin, and almost punitively priced*, that doesn't seem likely to me. The fun in this game is heavily tied up in the cosmetics, for me and for many others. *I realize some other games have sold what are basically mount skins for the same price, but in those games mounts are universal, you can use them in all situations where mounts get used. GW2 mounts are much more situational, so selling the skin at the same price point provides less value. If the reforged skin had been a pack like the spooky skins, it would be much more comparable to mount skins sold in other games (and that is part of why I actually bought the spooky pack when it came out.)
  11. This right here is where you and others differ strongly. If this method actually does make the money for Anet you believe it will, what are the odds of us being able to get mounts any other way? They won't give us achievement mount skins when they can make money from the same art team effort. And face the fact, this is not a game about skill, it is a game about cosmetics, so access to those cosmetics really does impact the game design.
  12. While I agree that quitting or swearing off gem purchases entirely is cutting off the nose to spite the face (the game and Anet's business practices cannot improve if you kill them entirely,) the anger arises from Anet getting into oily sales habits. Simply put, random loot of any kind exploits inherent psychological mechanisms present in everyone, and almost irresistibly strong in a small but significant subset of people. Tying that randomness to real money transactions might not make it gambling, but it makes it close, and it makes it more likely to cause harm to that significant subset of people. Now, Anet is hardly the only, or even the first, company to exploit the psychological cheat codes for profit, and certainly what they are doing is legal, at this time anyway, but it seems most people commenting here don't find it to be ethical. And taking unethical measures to make a profit is generally frowned upon.
  13. I see many people complaining about the price, which is steep if you want to be sure to get the skins you like, but really that isn't the primary issue to me. The primary issue isn't event the gambling, I've indulged in Black Lion chests now and then. The primary issue is the medium to high possibility of being stuck with something I will never use. Too many of the new skins are in the 'meh' to 'ick' range for me, and since I can't even toss them on the TP they are utterly useless. I won't stop supporting the game, but the release of these mount skins is just a fail in my book.
  14. Given that I only have interest in 2 or 3 skins, and have active dislike for about twice that many, I dislike the gambling aspect heavily. If they had released non-RNG unlocks at twice the price per I'd have almost instantly gone for that. If they're married to RNGsus on this (corporate meddling?) the price per should be lower (which is just common business sense, you want your pricing to encourage impulse shopping.)I'd also settle for the consolation price of the skins being tradeable. Then I could more reliably farm my way to a doge jackal.
  15. I was just doing the original personal story on a toon, and ran through the Cathedral of Eternal Radiance. It reminded me that I've been hoping for a Risen Priestess of Lyssa outfit in game since pretty much launch.

  17. The main sticking point to me is the class imbalance on this. Staff Ele, GS Mez, etc? You're golden. Melee spec? Sucks to be you. I dread this fight on my holosmith, the quick breakbar will make PF5 and PLB usless (cast times on CC skills, ugh,) I have to hope shield 5 will work. Or plink away at him with the minimal range tools holo provides and make an already lengthy story slog (with no checkpoints, which is the -other- sticking point for this instance) even longer.
