rev and thief the safest bet

ranking in terms of meta up time/ being relevant

    thief is S+

    rev is S

    engi is A+

    guard/necro is A

    the rest doesnt matter.

    war is F-

only play war if you want to be meta for 2 months and be completely irrelevant for 3 years after and repeat.

also don't believe anything about thief is not good outside of proper team, not true.

thief easily one of the best carry classes.

    nope.

    this is a lie.

your best bet is guard or necro.

I hope it does well with Steam and they hired a good marketing team. Sending out press releases and knowing gaming website editors (most likely advertorial) is not legit marketing especially with all the channels available for word of mouth viral campaigns.

I am curious to know what players will rate it out at.

The only meta guard build is support.

Support, on any class (its the same for tempest, healbreaker, anything), sucks for solo play. If your team are useless, you can't carry using a support build. You need a high damage build that can quickly secure kills and snowball.

And its the same with necro and thief. If your team doesn't move around you or make space on the map for you to get stuff done, then you'll find that there's just nowhere for you to go. If, as a thief, your team is constantly getting steam-rolled in teamfights, then you'll find that the enemy team can easily dedicate 2 duelists/bruisers to prevent you getting any decaps or ever finding a favourable +1.

To spell it out again, we're talking here about what allows you to carry when playing solo in ranked. Not what is best in an organised tournament team. These are two different things. When playing solo, you need something that can secure kills even if your team sucks, and which can take 1v1s against most opponents. Just like how some classes don't really perform so well in organised tournament teams (eg. Ranger) there are other classes that don't perform so well in solo, while still being great in organised tournament teams. Do try and distinguish these concepts.

Guard is the best solo class.

You outlined nothing that is better than it, and CLAIM that guard has only one meta build.

The reality is guard is just META.

Most of its builds, even wonky custom builds, are viable into platinum even in a hodor's hands.

A DH is way better than players like you are letting on, and it can 1v 1 and secure kills and be difficult to kill.

A carrion support can 1v1 and chase away enemies.

Support guards can turn fights around, even outnumbnered fights.

A burn guard can get players through the lowest shittiest tiers with ease, most people don't know how to condi cleanse.

Guard is the best solo class to climb on as they do/can do great dps, they can even support incidentally when not even built for it, they are sturdy.

Mobility and kills are important if you coordinate, as you already broke down why.

Guard is the best SOLO class, the goat.

Necro would be my second pick, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was tied.

The meta build may change for guard, but there has NEVER been a time when guard didn't have a META build that was solo/duo goat.

For solo play, avoid necro, guard, thief, although they're very good in a proper team, they can't carry solo if the team don't work with them.

Engi, Rev, Ranger have been for a long time the best solo performers, because they've quite self-sufficient. They dont "need" someone else to do something for them to work. Mesmer used to be a strong solo performer, but that hasn't been true for a while now.

Ele, the less said the better. Prior to EoD I would also have put warrior in the garbage-tier, but bladesworn is actually pretty good, so, not sure where it goes now.

Guard is the best solo class of all time, wtf are you talking about.

If you remove the - do not fight off points.  Then others are fine.

Its even contradicting your own advices...

For example, fight on point means likely to eat all the aoes and die.

Kite around for survival also means you need to be off point.

ranged dps if on point, become less ranged.

Also, if the low enemies have some iq, they are probably kiting off node, so you need to also finish them offnode...

What if fight on point just means being within a reasonable area and not far off in dickwood bleeding out after a foolish chase?

What if it means, commit to the fight that is most important?

Though, it could literally just mean die in aoe on point.

I don't know why, but for some reason GW2's PvP community is just irrationally angry and judgmental about people experimenting and learning the game at their own pace.  No one is good at something before one is first bad at it, and nobody is going to get any better at a structured activity if they are gatekept away from said activity (i.e. "Go play unranked first before you dare step food in my hallowed ground where people at least attempt to establish and propagate a certain level of perceived structure and strategy").  I mean, GW2 doesn't even feature a super high skill ceiling anyway; and most people are pretty capable of figuring something of this level out pretty quickly and judging for themselves whether they honestly enjoy the experience or not.  However, considering the game's stagnant, post-expansion population, you have to accept that there is probably more an fundamental issue with the game itself rather than overall player skill level.

But seriously, GW2 is like a bizarre, FGC community except that there's nothing but tantrums and the game isn't even that complicated.  Like, what the heck, dude, just let people play the game.  None of it matters.  You can't push yourself in GW2.  Stop pretending.

When sound advice is bad, and asking players to practice and  learn new builds in unranked, one as a courtesy to the community, and two, to save your own rank...

I'm half convinced this is Grimjacks attempt at sarcasm, sometimes he has a brain.

  7. I bought expac cause cantha was always my kitten.

But I noticed in the blog post pvp was only mentioned in terms of a balance pass, with nothing about mode changes, additions, or seasons, or rewards.

Full auto pilot, no longer a concern?

At least it was open and clear that there is zero intention of developing pvp.

Anyways I haven't found spectre to be fun enough to stick it out, and playing my old builds sent me on loss streaks into oblivion.

So, for now, I'm playing a core guardian hybrid like thing with more success.

Still, not with the addict level of play before.

    So, thanks?

Oh, and vindicatir is pretty funny lol.

  8. I think just tenure and addiction keep around hard heads, including me.

But, it's old, its the same old thing, same op classes, and no reasonable amount of balancing frequency.

There is not really a point to this thread, but I do realize that the devs do not read it, at least with an unbiased view.

How things are balanced, don't align with what is on the forums nor reddit, so I honestly don't believe it's read for value.

The balances seem to favor the big 3, sometimes the big 4.....those classes players flock to.

Thing is the reason why players flock to then is because they are always strong and effective from level 0 to infinity.

Sad thing is players of those classes are often campaigning for nerfs to others, and often successful, even though those other classes require more skill l, iq, and practice.

Another thing this causes infighting amongst high skill floor class mains.

Sob stories from newbs and perma bronzers dictate the direction of the human versus human competitive portion of the game.

Drunk nights, work breaks, afks mid games, and potty time have all been filled with visits to these forums.

No more. I've wasted too much time screaming into the emptiness.

    I am banning myself.

To be fair he must have full shroud life left. Seen this Bug that you can see if he is in shroud or not very often now.

Also @Crab Fear.1624 i wouldnt say thief does too mutch damage. Would more saying it got too many defence options (stealth dodge ports blinds) for what dps it allready do.

I'd recommend you play the class, get about 100 games on it, and then formulate and opinion.

Actually I challenge you to play thief exclusively the rest of this season, only thief, and report back the results.

They should redesign the spec. Oh wait, ain't gonna happen bois.

They may very well remove the breakbar and take away blind immunity.

They have made major changes to elites before.

And people be really complaining about thief dps...lol

anyways, shallow grave activated on the "death hit"

looks like he had the heal while taking condis from the tethered ally just on the point

and the shroud percent was not displaying correctly, just a bug.

  12. Virtuoso needs to learn a little more music to be jamming.

Willbender ain't bending anything but raging frustrated keyboarders.

    Untamed needs to be unleashed.

Catalyst needs to increase something, right now its only increasing the rate at which players stop playing ele.

One more thief meme spec. Pretty decent at memeing thieves and some of the above classes, trash everywhere else, hardly noticeable in a teamfight even if they are "hard to kill".

You got the usual suspects as the dominant picks.

You notice how no one, literally no one is crying about the above?

    Ever stop to consider why?

You got to do something for these, or totally rock bottom out the other 3.

    SO?

  13. I experienced some lag, and of course when you are in the game you just let your imagination run wild.

I "felt" that every time I was near two certain players I was lagging, and my latency would spike and rubberband, but everything outside the game seem unaffected.

The spouse experiences no lag in their games either during this time

    Tin foil hat goes on.

    Anyways.

I went ahead and ran the website latency test before I did anything.

    https://testmy.net/latency?gID=ewckkwwhqb

I decided to go ahead and restart my gear, reset my gear, and refirm my gear.

    https://testmy.net/latency?gID=lm0ou1w4jz

Overall, decent improvement according to the test, and way less deviations, so less rubberbanding....

Now, Ill go back into the game and report (here back later...lol)

Maybe there are many players online at the time not in your region, and the latency can increase, but it seems some (preventative maintenance) PM can reduce some of the problems.

Make sure your gear is not hotter than it should be, nor covered in ballsack hair. Clean it off, give it some space away from the stuffed anime waifus.

anyone who put bladesworn higher then C, plays only low tier ranked pvp.

this spec has 0 place in any organized 5v5 high end tournament

Vaanss has been playing the bladesworn in PvP. I saw him in probably 4 matches today, for and against, and he was playing bladesworn on the sides.

It really is too early to call anything yet.

Some things are broken, or low key broken, but it ain't as obvious or as outrageous as POF release.

  16. they should ride out the season, because a few days in and its not enough.

they can't knee jerk now because there are strong kitten builds, that YOU haven't discovered yet.

one season is okay to burn, perhaps two while the theory crafting and use of a spec (in the pvp sense) is forumulated.

at the very least, it gives many players time to decide the "ifs"....

the "if this was this" then it would be balanced or strong "ifs"

    relax.

honestly, with so many people, if you are title hunting, play a gank build that you know well and do well....so many people in pvp right now, you can't even be q sniped.

this is the season to get that title
