  1. The queue system in this game is horrible. I would rather wait longer and have fun fights than get in quickly and then get stomped because I've been matched against randoms that all have Plat or similar when myself and the team are completely unranked.

It's discouraging and makes me go, "Yeah, I never want to PvP ever." The matchmaking is killing the system to satisfy a small portion of the player base, which ironically means that they'll have to wait even longer in the end as they chase all new players away due to being a wall to their enjoyment. Care less about the veterans and focus on the new players who are the ones that will "inherit" the system once the veteran players leave it and they will.

If the veteran players have to wait for half an hour+ to fight the same team over and over again, good, get them out of Unranked for a while, it's only benefits the system as right now their presence actively discourages people from ever advancing from Unranked to Ranked.

This is a controversial statement, stop pleasing the veteran players, they talk a lot as they often make for a vocal minority due to their engagement being higher, and in a year or so when they no longer play then what? A system is roughly said to be self-sustaining if two people enter for everyone who leaves. Right now that one person discourages the two people from entering, and then they inevitably leave anyway, entropy is a constant of everything after all, there are no two new people to take their place.

I'm loath to say this and I think this is actually the one time where I would suggest taking business advice from Games Workshop. Forget veterans, they already have all they need and they have sunk cost investment in this. They're no longer where the revitalisation of the hobby comes from. That comes from new players. Ease people into the system so they can become veterans by excluding the veteran base from being a wall to their progress. This matchmaking is killing the mode faster than anything else. During the PvP rush, I had matches I enjoyed as there were enough new people in the system that I could easily have fights against my skill level rather than being constantly either paired with or placed against extremely experienced players and either noob stomping or getting noob stomped myself, neither of which are that enjoyable for anyone.

As explained by The Zone of Proximal Control theory, people want a challenge without it being too big to overcome. Too easy and too hard are both things that people experience respectively as either too boring to continue doing or too frustrating to attempt.

Versatile Rage has a CD of 4s. So, you aren't getting it every weapon swap. I would still recommend Relic of the Warrior at the time though, since it is stacking incorrectly with Fast Hands. You can camp Staff as much as you need, go into WH for 2 casts, and then get back into staff promptly.

I know. I still get the five Adrenaline and I can swap back immediately. For what reason do you assume I'm unable to see things happening? And no, if you do that you still have a lag where you can just sit there as using the two warhorn abilities takes a combined 1 second. Having to wait 1½ seconds is a lot smoother than having to wait 4.

This is the build I've created to play around with and test out. So far I really like it.

    - Minstrel Gear: Obvious.

    - Rune of Altruism: Gives additional healing power, the boon duration is great for all the Boons you can push out, you have more than enough of the other stats, and the Citality is just a bonus.

    - Sigil of Transference: This one explains itself.

    - Sigil of Life: The added Healing Power stat affects Regeneration, Barrier, and direct healing.

    - Skills: "To the Limit" is a shout so get healing power benefits from traits. "Shake It Off" is good for general utility. "Banner of Defense" also provides good Boons and some Barrier. The empty slot can be whatever you or the leader need. I prefer to run either "Signet of the Dollyak" or "Featherfoot Graze" depending on the circumstance. "Battle Standard," good all-around utility.  the

    - Relic of the Warrior: This one will be controversial. I have this because of how smooth it makes the build feel. Other classes usually used for support have both X and Y that can be used for Z so, switching to Y from X means that you can still do Y just differently. Warriors only have X as such, you need to be able to access it when you need to. The build is at the same time starved for Adrenaline for use in Bursts, I get Adrenaline when I swap weapons, and with the combination of Fast Hands and Relic of the Warrior, I can access that Adrenaline in 2½ seconds. In that time I can get Warhorn 4 and 5 off and after that switch back to Staff and continue delivering support. This makes the build feel fluid to play and while I'm sure that other relics provide bigger numerical benefits being able to access your only tool for Y when you need it is a lot more beneficial to me for playing a Healbreaker.

Note: I know you can only get he Adrenaline for swapping weapons every four seconds and the 2½ second swap feels a lot smoother and more natural in gameplay.

  4. Tone the fog around this boss down. it's really difficult to see what she's telegraphing in the din of combat and that's with fields from players outside my party turned off as well as post-processing and all options disabled.

When she does her pushes. pulls, and knockback there are no warnings as you're unable to see the ground. When she does her blast you really have to focus on the direction of her horns to see what way she's turning, and even that's sometimes impossible as it coincides with you getting caught in her various fields.

Hell Sister for me feels about as frustrating as Sorrow though for other reasons. At least I can play around Sorrow with skill. There's no way to do the same with Hellsister as you're incapable of seeing what she's gonna do due to the fog surrounding her.

What a monumental hurdle for someone on a PC in the year 2024 to overcome.

I've seen some wild non-issues being argued on the forum but this actually might take the cake.

You have to understand that when expecting the average level of performance you have to set the expectations low even though it sounds insulting.

Not moving anything, this is what I said since the start. Understanding how a cursor works is a basic computer skill and if you don't know how to use it, you won't be able to play -or even get- the game anyways.

That has nothing to do with the functionality of the mouse cursor. Getting additional information by mousing over something depends on how the interface works. I can easily find an interface with no added. If I mouse over an icon in my windows I only get the location of the executable. Getting the dropdown where there's some meaty stuff requires a right-click.

How are you installing, launching and playing a game without understanding how a cursor works?

The information about currencies is readily/snappily available, mousing over things is an obvious, basic element of using computers. You're actively trying to invent a problem that isn't there.

    16 hours ago, kharmin.7683 said:

What does installing GW2 have to do with this argument?  Once the game is installed, there are many things in the game that show more information when they are hovered over with the mouse pointer.

    16 hours ago, Danikat.8537 said:

The point is this functionality is not unique to GW2, it's used by many, many programs (including Windows) so someone who is capable of installing and running the game will likely know that's one way to get additional information on something in a computer program.

More importantly the text comes up immediately so the only way to open the wallet and not see it is to avoid moving your cursor over any part of the window, except the scroll bar. Even if you do it by accident the first time you'll find out it gives you more info on each currency.

Now you're all just moving the goalposts as "understanding how a cursor works" has nothing to do with knowing how to get additional information by mousing over information. The cursor in itself does nothing unless it's moved over an interactable object and interacted with.

Not really, if you're able to download, install, launch and play gw2, you're bound to be aware of the way cursors are used. Not sure why you're so set on inventing a problem here. And such a ridiculous one -like people not being aware of how to use mouse- at that.

What information do you get from mousing over anything when you install GW2?

Mousing over is "snappily available", it's fast and easy while not cluttering the ui. It's not an information you need constantly reminding yourself -but if you do, mousing over something isn't an issue at all.

Yes, and it requires you to know the information exists. All information is useless unless you know it exists. The same goes for all the QoL additions that have been added to the game over the last couple of years. When I see people trying the game on stream or in videos they often ask for things that already exist that are communicated horribly or completely lacking in information.

  9. For the Weekly Festivals collections increase the count for activities so if you have to do so if you do a full round of them you get at least 50 points. The old cou8nt, here using The Lunar Festival where if you do a round of the Celestial Tournament, adventures, and the time trial you only get 25 points. Before when this achievement only went to 100, 25 points would be 25%. That's fitting. Now it's only 12,5% of the total you need,m which requires you to make an, IMO, soul-crushingly amount of effort.

Nah, it requires mousing over the description. The information needs to be snappily available. When people open the Wallet they should be able to see instantly the short info of where it comes from. Then you can also have the mousing over information if people want to go into it.

I don't understand why devs haven't thought of this. New players are super confused by all the currencies in the wallet. But this is mostly a UI problem.

If you just hide the currencies until a player either 1) gets some of it or 2) reaches the map that uses it, this would make it so that new players only see the new currency when they have reached the point in the story or map where they will find it useful.

Instead of being hit with "here's dozens of currencies, fresh lv1 noob" it will be "you discover 1-2 new currencies each time you enter a new map" which is a much easier learning curve.

It would be enough to add to their description where the currency is from with this format "Currency" (Expansion/Living World - Specific Map - Method of Obtaining). An example would be "Airship Parts" (HoT - Verdant Brink - Airship Cargo). That would be infinitely more useful for new players.

Also, a search function in the Wallet would be golden so you can easily locate that one currency you're looking for.

  12. I think 2 and 3 could be merged and just be Open-world PvE and then come in the sequence of release. It would help people to see where things happen chronologically. Delete the WvW section completely off the LFG, it literally does nothing as you can only play with people from your server, which you gather from WvW anyway making the section superfluous.

Thank you all for your participation in the world restructuring beta event. We’ve been keeping an eye on your feedback throughout the beta and would like to follow up with some specific questions now that we're at the end of the event. If you’d like to share your thoughts, please leave answers to the following questions in this thread:

    • Do you play on NA or EU?

    EU

    • What team were you on during January 12-26?

    Dragon's Claw.

    • What team were you on during January 26-February 2?

    Reaper's Corridor.

    • If there is a day of the week and time of day you usually play, what are they?

    That changes with my mood.

    • Did your world restructuring matchups feel more or less balanced than your regular WvW Server matches?

It would be unfair to judge this since there are too few data samples to make a appropriate pairings.

    • Did you select a WvW Guild for the beta?

    I thought I did 😞

    • Was your guild part of a larger alliance guild?

    No.

    • Were there usually commanders around during your normal playtime?

    No.

    • Which week felt most balanced and enjoyable for you?

    The last week.

    • What part of world restructuring felt the most well executed?

    The no more servers thing.

    • What part of world restructuring feels like it has the most room for improvement?

There need to be language-recommended combat groups. People play on language-recommended servers for a reason and suddenly dumping them into environments where people are unable to communicate because of a language barrier is a really bad experience.

Dragon's Claw died in activity since half the group was people from France largely unable to speak English and the other half were people who could speak English and only rudimentary French. This meant that improvised activity was virtually dead since a squad without voice comp and such gets run over by a squad that has those things. This resulted in activities being insular as the French half had little desire to include the English-speaking-only crowd. They signed up to be on a server where people are expected to speak French.

Reaper's Corridor had similar issues with desegregation, though here, I would guess, roughly 25% of the group was from Germany and had better English speaking skills. Still a similar issue of insular content though there was some mixed activity, People from Germany tend to remain on TeamSpeak while people who speak English tend to use Discord. My guess is because they're used to mingling with other nationalities.

  14. Make the "Well Rested" possible by logging out in the Core cities as people are inorganically funneled toward Arborstone and The Wizard's Tower to get the "Well Rested" effect.

The "Pact Mentor" Mastery could give it, instead of, Swiftness as with the access to a level 10 Raptor the Boon is superfluous outside of Home Instances since it's faster to go around on a city with a mount rather than on foot.

    On Stealth:

A few things need to be adjusted.

    • If you appear close to the target a noise and/or indicator should take place (Like the noise WoWs rouge gives off when your being stalked)
    • If you appear in front of the face of your opponent a shadow image should appear to give the opponent time to counter (also like WoWs rouge)
    • Big damage for thief and only thief should be a thing from stealth but if you miss you should be reavealed (Not the weird mechanic we have now) but you should be exposed and open to a counter attack. Forceing the thief to re-stealth and regroup if their opponent misses their opportunity for counter. This is engaging game play each side has a chance to capitalize on the others mistake.

Stealth is already ridiculously good and there's no situation where it should be better or more complicated to use.

The only two things Stealth needs to make it good without making it stupidly broken.

    1. Stealth breaks on initiation of anything so, no more stealth channeling of attacks and no more stealth stomps.

    2. Applying Stealth gives you a Grace Timer (Duration dependent on the length of the stealth effect) that, while it lasts, makes you unable to be affected by a new stealth effect. No more chaining them to get in and out. Remove NPC auto reveal, like the Sentries in WvW. Player Reveal abilities now give Grace Timer instead.

Compensate Thieves with more health since Stealth is their primary method of offense and defense after all, and they would be left dry with it getting a much-needed reduction in power and efficiency.

    Hello,

Im one of them players who starts and stops and usually comes back when an new XPac is released, play then stop.

Ive played reaper since HoT and wanted a change so i created a Ranger, got all pets and joined a HP train to get soulbeast and druid..

While traversing the world, it kind of feels.... less populated that usual. One thing ive always felt with gw2 is that it has always felt populated. however now, even in Lion arch it feels less dense of people.

Is anyone else feeling this? maybe im just delusional and its busier elsewhere i am not hanging out at?

I kinda felt since the story wrapped up with EoD it died a bit. Is AnEt working on any new mmo? Gw3 🙂  that'll be fun, start a new story now dragons are dead.

Gw2 is and always has been my fav MMO of all ive played so i'd love to see it populated, maybe i just need to find some populated guilds to feel alive

There are more maps people can spread out on and that will delude people. You now also get an XP buff for logging out in The Wizard Tower and Arborstone, something that makes people less inclined to go to LA or any of the other core cities other than to show off.

Just came back after a 6 month break trying to do events in Amnytas.

The map is dead. There's nobody joining events required for mastery points. The event with platforms where the game's pretending to be a badly done first person shooter is impossible to solo. Mapchat is dead. Tagging up does nothing. LFG does nothing. The bugged pre-event with clueless people upscaling it is frustrating. I tried for 3 hours and just alf f4'd in the end, this isn't worth wasting my Saturday for.

Bonus shout-out to that one idiot in chat telling me to quit the game if I'm not enjoying it. Well, I guess I will. Ironically enough, at least this explains why everything's deserted.

That's one event though. If you want Masteries then Inner Nayos can give so you can fill out all Masteries and still have a couple of points to spare and I miss the Mastery Point from getting gold on the Wizard's Trial. If it's a completionist thing then it's a you-thing and nothing can be done about how you feel. Objectively though, we have the exact same potential of Mastery Points total.

    Hello,

Wouldn't it be cool if we had PvP / WvW events in the game ? ( Like convergences in PVE ).

Maybe it would push more people to try  and engage more in Pvp during these events and after continue to the regual pvp mod ?

I was thinking about " big " events like we had in guild wars 1 , Alliance battles or Fort Aspenwood .

It would be only three or four times a day and not allowed in private instance ( so as not to remove players from regular competitive game modes )

The problem with PvP is the mechanical system rather than spice. Due to how Boons work the difference in performance between a new player and an experienced one is a complete roflstomp. To make PvP and WvW a better experience that many people want to engage actively in Boons needs to do way less, like, 1/3 of the current effect less, and Quickness and Alacrity need to be utterly removed from both WvW and PvP.

Saying that it's skill that matters the most is a bit duplicitous since what's a high multiplier to that is the amount of Boons any given Profession can push out.

You ran into the 1% and are making a thread as if every ele is like that. This is why #ITSNOTOKWHENELEDOESIT. It's ok when any other class can do it, but if elementalist can, IT MUST BE NERFED!!!!!!! immediately!!!

If the skill floor and skill ceiling are that different then Elementalists should be nerfed so the ceiling was lowered and buffed in a way so that the floor was raised. This sort of difference is bad for the health of any competitive play.

Since when has "I need to know everything about something before it releases" become the baseline?

I mean in the end, you'll know ahead of time anyway due to datamining of game files. Still doesn't mean the developers owe you any info. 🤷‍♂️

It does change the context of what you said since it was a strawman as that was never even implied in my original post.
