Inner Keep Re-runner Bug?

Myself and a Guildmate have just tried to do the Inner Keep Re-Runner achievement as part of the Return to a Star to Guide Us in Jahai bluffs.

We arrived with 1 minute to spare for the race to start. Both signed up to it and both were in the starting square at the start of the race. Knowing how laggy things can be, we both held back for a few seconds  before moving so we werent disqualified. We both ran the race and got to the chest and looted it.

Both of use did not get the credit of the Inner Keep Re-runner achievement, despite being able to open the chest and loot it.

So bug? or is there something to this event that isn't apparent?

Update to the above - We both waited in the area following this race and 30 minutes later the race repopped. Signed up again, both were in the square when the race started, both waited a second or two in case of lag and then ran the race. On reaching the chest we looted and both got the achievment.

Very odd. Other than waiting in the area for 30 minutes rather than signing up at the last minute as in the first attempt, nothing else was different.

Happened to me. Going to try again later. Signed up, waited, got chest, took Portal back,waited for timer and just received the reward for doing the event. It didn't progress the meta chieve.
